Thanks Jim, I have got to admit, my Bikers are my favourite unit(s) in the army so far, I think it is down to their humble beginnings as most of them are eBay reclamations, chopped up and re-converted and repurposed in the name of the Despoiler. They see a lot of play time :) I also have 3 more built with the Forge World Berzerker upgrade kit for another Melta squad, but they are further down the production line!

EDIT - need to learn how to type....

No worries glad you like them. There is a link in my sig to a tutorial I did, but if you use the mobile version (like me) then you won't see it. Here you go -

Tutorial:Glowing Eyes/Power Weapons

"I am the Archfiend, the Despoiler of Worlds, and by my hands shall the false Emperor fall."

Abaddon the Despoiler, Warmaster of Chaos

Finally, after three years of having him, finally, FINALLY is he finished! I know I am always guilty of converting, kit bashing and never getting round to paint them, but he has been around for too long. He was a present from my brother when he heard I was starting a Black Legion army, but I needed to get the colour scheme down and I kinda felt he needed something to lead first! Well, he is ready to lead my Black Crusade now -

Thought about a freehand Eye of Horus on his cape, but as he is already a busy model, decided against it.

At some point I will also complete the rest of the diorama with Abaddon facing off against a Blood Angels Chaplain based on Loken during the Battle of Makan. In the meantime time, my Call of Chaos part 1, is complete! Now time for some Bringers of Despair.....

C & C welcomed

Well... That was definitely worth the wait :tu:. The red glowing from his gorget up his face looks brilliant and all the little chaos bits you've added really make it something special. Great paint job as always :)

Nemac

Thanks Bio, glad you like :)

I tried to stick with the cannon colour scheme mainly, with just a little or the orange spot colour to tie him in with the rest of my (his?) boys. He is a busy model, so with all the different colours could have went a bit too Slaanesh!

The Warmaster's looking fantastic, mate! I especially love the red glow around his face and the pop provided by his sword! And that Sanguinary Guard helmet that can be glimpsed right behind his head just seems like a lovely touch to me for some reason.

I do have one small gripe, though: the mud on his feet and cape. I think the effect looks a bit too forced, espeically since he doesn't even seem to be standing on anything particularly muddy ;) Now this is clearly a matter of personal taste, but I think it would look more natural to leave more of the feet in black and to carefully brush some of the basing colour over the feet (with very little paint on the brush to allow for the effect to gradually build up). Right now, this feels like a minor distraction on what is an otherwise spectacular piece.

But in any case, keep up the fantastic work! :)

Cheers for the comment Kraut, glad you like :smile.:

RE the mud, I was a rather slap happy with it this morning! It should be easy to fix however as it is weathering powder, and a little rub should remove it. I do put more on as when I seal it, it tends to lessen the effect

EDIT - so I lightened the effect on the cloak and feet, and off he went on a Black Crusade with his friends to murder up some corpse worshipping fools:

Kraut, Nemac, Vairocanum, Jim; cheers guys  it did turn out rather well, didn't it? I am not photoshop whizz though, so no glamour shots like Krauts, I just used the inlay in the Codex as the background! Thanks for the kind comments, I really appreciate t; I am pleased at how he has turned out - he is going to be leading a Black Crusade near you as our club campaign, "The Sundering of the Gate" kicks off proper tonight, so feel free to check it out in the Club website linked in my sig :smile.:

Next up will be Terminators for my Call and I need to build the Rapier crewmen.

That guy looks awesome. I totally forgot to ask last time I saw him, how did you do that paint job on the sword and where did you get it. I think it would be perfect for Counts as Mephiston. Similar shape but less silly. Edited by Quixus

Funny you guys should mention that, because I was frankly so inspired by your latest picture that I just had to tweak it a bit -- I hope you don't mind!

Hi Quixus, no worries thanks for the comment. The paint job was using my usual technique, there is a link to the tute in my sig and also further up this very page :)

Here you go -

Tutorial:Glowing Eyes/Power Weapons

When following the tute just use Troll Slayer Orange instead of the green, though any bright colour can be used to good effect :tu:

The actual sword is from the Chaos range out of Fantasy, but I can't remember which kit! I think it was either the chaos warriors or the marauders?

My word, that is exactly how I want my Black Crusade portrayed; warms my cold heart to see them in action against the lackeys of the False Emperor! Looks so awesome!! Of course I don't mind! Thank you so much for that :tu: if you don't mind, I would dearly like to put it pride of place on the front page of this thread :)

Again, thanks so much; it has made my day :tu:

Well, I am just glad you like it! Those are some kick-ass models, and they were already looking awesome before I started touching up the picture.

Speaking of which, seeing how you're using the picture as the splash image on the first page on the thread, maybe it should feature the title of the thread as well? So, just in case:

On a related note, man, I just can't get over how awesome those swords are!

Thank you very much. Have you got any tips how to make the lightning sooo thin.

Of course, I am really stoked with it :smile.: Front page edited; thanks man, it is very much appreciated.

Glad you like the swords also, I do try to make them 'pop', especially from a tabletop distance  I always try to squeeze a few Power Weapons into squads when playing, just because....

As far as the lightning goes, it pays to have a really good brush and a steady hand, as well as YOU MUST WATER THE PAINT DOWN, especially when using white. I am guilty of not always doing this myself, but for fine detail work you just hab=ve too. Always make sure you have some of the previous colour showing (in this case the orange) as it helps give the lightening the correct hue. Sometimes, I do put a glaze of the original colour over it if the white is too bright too; Abaddon could do with that really over his hand actually. Hope that helps :smile.:
  • 2 weeks later...

Okayyyyyy; so the next part of my Call is three Terminators. Thing is, I wasn't happy with them so I have had a bit more of a play to make them ready, a little tweak here and there and some added spikes etc to make them a worth bodyguard to the Warmaster -

Better view of the combi-plasmas

Made using loyalist ones with chaos terminator bitz. I do have the FW Khorne Termi kit too, but I am going to use that with my second batch, as game wise I don't want these ones limited to one mark. I do have the odd mold line to remove to by the looks of things, maybe add a few skulls and some rubble to the bases to keep them inline with their boss.

As always, c & c welcome :tu:
