deathspectersgt7
Did you decide what color you will use for the wings? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3646271 Share on other sites
Armond
Not done, just getting an idea of what I like/dislike. I think I like it. No metallics as of right now, for now it is basically base colors. Does my blue make me look Midnight Clad to you? ;) Anyway, enjoy. C&C always welcome, He is maybe 50% done in terms of overall. Just a guess though. https://fbcdn- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3646429 Share on other sites

Molokai
The paintwork on the helm faceplate is awesome. Great blue too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3646532 Share on other sites
Armond
Awesome! Praise coming from you guys pretty much cements my thoughts on the color. I actually had an even darker blue, but I couldnt even tell it was blue at all, so I had to use something a tad brighter. I tried a tiny bit of lightning, I didn't want him covered in it and the faceplate I figured to keep it simple. I will keep going in this direction and see what I can come up with as I progress on the NLs. Balthamal
What colours did you use to achieve that shade of blue if I may ask? deathspectersgt7
Looks Good are you using GW paint or Vallejo? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3646714 Share on other sites
Armond
Vallejo/Game Color, imperial blue specifically. I think the number is 20. This is over a black primer, slightly watered down, no washes. Armond
You have a good eye deathspectre, dead on. I have been a part of the family for a long time, at least in my heart, I just didn't invest in them money-wise because of the high cost. But now, I have plenty to work on and will hopefully be meeting heathens and his Iron Warriors on the field one day. I just wish I had more time to invest in them, but my wife and kids deserve my time as well. So I have to divide it up smartly. I will try to put together the rest of the 13 members of this first tactical squad sometime this week or next week. I put the coat of blue on the Sgt, and will start messing with him a bit too. Plus, I need to figure out what basing scheme I want to use. Should be easy enough. Armond
Figured heck, why not start on the Sgt of the same tactical squad as the Vexilla. Enjoy, C&C welcome. He is NOT done, plenty left to do! Balthamal
It looks excellent. Only reason I'm shying away from using game colour is the need to splash matte varnish over it to get rid of the OTT gloss effect Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3647328 Share on other sites

Armond
That is correct, anvil industry, I like it and th quality is great, almost. I clean up required. Not sure about the gloss you are talking about, it seems pretty matte already. Are my eyes deceiving me? Anyway, this guy is not totally done, just wanted to post this and pretty much decide I am sticking with the scheme. Thoughts on the Legion symbol being white/offwhite skull with grey wings instead of red? Secretpaintgeek
Looking good! Like the blue and the legion emblem looks cool without the usual red wings. Balthamal
Oh might just be me then, I used Night Blue on my test model and it was about as glossy as could be expected. No idea whether that was due to the paint itself or some other reason. Re - Legion Symbol. Go with whatever you want. The elite in my particular collection are going to have the symbol in a black and cobalt style since I liked how the description of it sounded in Void Stalker Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3647470 Share on other sites
Armond
Did you shake it up/open it up and mix it? It seems to separate inside in the paint container and the part that comes out of the nozzle is only a partial mix. I do like that darker legion symbol, and it fits with the specific mission these guys are tasked with. Balthamal
Yup made a special point of having it on a palette especially to mix but no matter, I've got another test model to do anyway because I want to try other highlighting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288067-executioners-1850-points-completed-100915/page/4/#findComment-3647531 Share on other sites

Armond
Thanks Tavrik, I tried to keep it minimal and no too cluttered with lightning! Glad you like! Sorry to hear Balthamal, but glad you have another plan of attack! Yea death I think I am liking the dark wings. I am going to darken them and only highlight the upper Kat raises sections of the wings though!
