Reyner
These look really good - my Fire Raptor hull is exactly the same too and I have washed it loads but the residue just returns a few hours later! I might have to give them a ring.
poom
Thanks guys! Some great little touches on those thralls! Will we get to see your interpretation of Vel Kheredar at some point? Pretty please? Maybe some day..I was thinking about it, but have not jet found the right bits to make his spider-legs.. Simply amazing, well done for a spot on representation of the World Eaters! I'd say more but I think I'd just be repeating what others have said Can't wait to see the finished Warhound in its entirety. Would you mind explaining how you got the grid effect on its armour? I've seen that effect before and would love to have a go at it myself. Keep it up! I used this stencil from anarchy models: http://www.anarchymodels.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_new.tpl&product_id=176&category_id=27&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 I just put the stencil on the black primed part and sprayed mephiston red from a can on top. ______________________________ I started painting today: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Tech_Thrall_1_17.jpg The metals will get much brighter, but you get an idea where this is heading. Even if the Redjak Cult and the Crimson Brotherhood both have red in their names I will fokus more on black, silver and copper. I realy want them to look dark and evil. As for the bases I am still very undecided, for one part it would be great to have the same desert theme like the World Eaters, so that they look great togeather on some larger games. But on the oder hand I can imagine them very well on some Sarum themed bases, that would look like this test pieces I did earlyer: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Base01.jpg Any thouts on that matter? Oh and by the way, not sure if somebody noticed, but I could not resist to make a little Terminator reference on the Thralls: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Tech_Thrall_1_08.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXk7TuxrDBI

Maybe the vestigial arms from the Talos kit Cerebralerebus used on this - excellent - model? That's possibly the closest any model has ever come to capturing how I imagine Vel Kheredar (who, if you ask me, steals every scene he's in during Betrayer). Battybattybats
What did you use in that base experiment? That's very fine-sand realistic looking effect and i'm looking for something to give me that martian sand look for a special project for my House Cydonia Mechanicum Knights force. That's possibly the closest any model has ever come to capturing how I imagine Vel Kheredar (who, if you ask me, steals every scene he's in during Betrayer). Ah yes, a very nice model. But to be honest, I imagined the legs to be much longer. What did you use in that base experiment? That's very fine-sand realistic looking effect and i'm looking for something to give me that martian sand look for a special project for my House Cydonia Mechanicum Knights force. The sand is Chinchilla bathing sand I bought at a pet shop It is the finest sand I could find. Also I used some plaster pieces for the big stones and GW agrellan earth for the cracked earth. ___________________________ Little update on the Thralls: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Tech_Thrall_1_19.jpg

Anyway, next up will be the Thallax.

The_Chaplain
God Emperor, those thrall skull heads are so cool looking. That technique would make a good basis for an eversor or culexus assassin head. Well painted Poom, looking forward to your next update!
poom
Hey guys, I have an uptate on the Redjak Cult: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Thallax01_10.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Thallax01_11.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Thallax01_12.jpg And a Tech Assassin: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Assassin0109.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Assassin0111.jpg She is from Blight Wheel Miniatures and I just love how similar she is to this John Blanche Artwork. http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Assassin0103.jpg Also.. did you already check the newest article on the Eternal Hunt blog. KrautScientist takes an indepth look at Khârn the Betrayer and also shows his newest version of him, very cool and interesting! I am very honored that both of my Khârns got mentioned there, yay! https://eternalhunt.wordpress.com/2014/12/12/on-Khârn-the-betrayer/

poom
Thanks! The bright red on the Thallax heads was maybe a bit to much, I am waiting how the bigger automata turn out and maybe change it to a darker red or a glossy black. Speaking of bigger ones, Castellax will be next: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Castellax01_02.jpg
poom
Sorry for the lack of Marine Stuff, but at the moment I am realy into Mechanicum This will be my Magos Prime on Abeyant: http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/MagosPrime01.jpg http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/MagosPrime02.jpg Not finished jet, but with the legs finally on, he is at least presentable. The_Chaplain
Very creepy. Cool, but creepy. Where is the magos model from? Necromunda?
KrautScientist
That is an excellent Magos model, and far cooler than FW's slightly strange "Magos in a floating DJ booth", if you ask me! If I am not mistaken, the Magos model is one of the rewards from the "Skullz" collector's programme of yore, right? On a semi-related note, you wouldn't happen to have the head of that Blood Slaughterer as a leftover and be willing to part with it, would you? ;)
poom
Very creepy. Cool, but creepy. Where is the magos model from? Necromunda? KrautScientist is right, this model was sculped by the Perry brothers around 94 and was only available as a reward for 'Skullz' program. I was looking for ages to get my hands on it and finnaly a view month back I was lucky to get him alone and for a reasonable price. Usually only the complete set of all the Skullz Magos and robots gets sold together. Yeah I am also not to big of a fan of the FW magos'. The fact they don't have legs is weirding me out. Love the animal head on Draykavak though. Sorry but I will keep the Blood Slaughterer head for a while. I saw here on B&C somebody converting a Knight Titan with this head and I might try this some time..
