Cometh the Red Angel

And the sky burned, and the stars fell from the inferno, and with them came the angels.

And they were armoured and arrayed for slaughter, and their rage howled across the ashes of the realm they had destroyed.

And with them was one greater than all the rest, they his dead children and he was their maker.

And those that remained amongst the ashes looked to the sky and knew that death was come upon them.

On Saturday I played two Istvaan 3 themed games against a friends loyalist Sons of Horus and we had a blast! Here are some impressions:

He insisted to play against Angron.. I never played a primarch outside Apocalypse, in 2000 points it was just brutal. Angron won me both of the games.

Jareg is a charcter from the book Khârn: Eater of Worlds from Anthony Reynolds. Represented by me of course during the early Heresy.

He is the jailer of the Caedere, the Red Butchers. With a remote he can imobalise the Cataphractii Armours so he can chain them to the walls of the Conqueror inbetween battles. He also has a close look to the Rampagers, where he gets most of the new Butchers msn-wink.gif

I think he would make a great HQ for a Red Butcher and Rampager themed army..

Incredible stuff! you can't help but feel sorry for your friend though, you just know with Angron on the table that everyone wearing green (heck even some wearing white!) are gonna be turned into dog food!

Paint work A+

Originality A+

Style A+

You sir are an art-eest!

Awww yis

Much awesome - and kudos for creating a perfect role & backstory for him thumbsup.gif

Thank you so much!

He is excellent. What are your plans for the other one?

I am not 100% sure jet. This Delegatus guy has a lot of bling for World Eater.. so I thought to let him represent like a super popular gladiator from the fighting pits, similar to the facemask guy from the movie gladiator:

gladiator-tigris-of-gaul-e1297257581462.

So like a Legion Champion Consul or something.. and then armed with some gladiator style weapons. I like for example the classic combination of trident and fishingnet. Maybe this will be the chance to represent that throwing spear World Eater relic?

Thanks guys!

So I started to work on the new game board. Like mentioned before it will be Istvaan 5 themed, just like my World Eaters. But as I also play Bolt Action and other historical tabletops I want all the themed terrain to be modular.

So the board is based on the Citadel table with two extra tiles from Forgeworld, the crashed thunderhawk and the big bunker representing the traitor defenses on Istvaan 5.

I want to represent the aftermath of the battle, most traitor legions have already left the planet, only the Wolrd Eaters are still there in full strengh to hunt down Corax. So the Urgall Depression is full with wrecks, dead space marines and even somecrazy ossuary-cairns:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Urgall_Depression_Aftermath.jpg

As for the color sheme, I will have to make a compromise. The urgall depression, where most of the battle took place, is described in the books as black vulcanic ash. This will not work for me, as my world eaters and the modular terrain I already own have a brownish tone. So I will keep the brown sand but paint the bigger rocks in a vulcanic black/grey.. So I guess it will be a combination from both FW Istvaan 5 tables: the sand color from the first and the rocks from the new one.

So I started by casting two rocks from the Thunderhawk tile to cover up the skullpits from the citadel board and also to have as a modular terrain piece:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Hugel%2007.jpg

I then put sand on all the tiles and undercoated it:

The tiles are now ready to get some paint.

I also build more fortifications and some rocks and fuel dumps:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Fotifications01.jpg

For the wrecks I start simple and small with tree rhinos:

Nr. 1

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Rhino01%2001.jpg

Nr.2

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Rhino03%2004.jpg

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Rhino03%2005.jpg

Nr.3

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Rhino02%2001.jpg

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Rhino02%2003.jpg

Like with the rocks I made a simple one-part mold to reproduce them. This is alle three casted up:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Rhino03%2006.jpg

For now I want to build two from each. Three will be painted in world eater colors to be wreck markers in games and the other tree will get some dead space marines and stuff to be themed terrain.

Sorry guys all those castings are only for my private use..

I started to paint some of the terrain:

The first Rhinos will all be World Eaters to use as tarrain but also as wreck marker in games. The next batch will have some dead marines from different Istvaan 5 Legions and will be purly terrain.

Also I have been building some more World Eaters:

Do you remember my Rampagers?

So I finnaly build the last two guys for this squad, one more with a Excoriator Chainaxe and a sergeant with fist:

http://i420.photobucket.com/albums/pp282/PoomW/Apo03_01.jpg

Also a medic with magnetised special weapon. So this guy just removed the Pragenoid Glands from neck and chest of a dead World Eater, those are the organs containing the Legion gene seed.

Next up a new Contemptor with a Chainfist:
