That leviathan is so boss.

I'm also digging the drop pods. I am thinking of running my eaters as an orbital assault list. Do you have any tips for applying decals? I'm about to start that phase on my test eater and its been a loooooong while since i've embarked on transfers, lol.

It helps alot to use a decal softener, I have the micro set and micro sol from microscale industries. Especially when applying decals on curved places like a shoulder pad. Also, after it is applyed and dry I seal it with varnish from a can, so that the washes later will not flow under the decal.

Any varnish in particular you like? I decaled up some of my tac marines uses microset like you suggested and they great aside from being a little glossy. The microset made it stupid easy to apply them.

Great looking pods! I like the bases, how did you paint them?

Are you using pigments to get the dusty effect, like you do on the orange sand on your Mechanicum?

Thanks man! Yes I used pigments for them, but way less then on the Mechanicm modells. I used them more like a final highlight on a finished painted base.

Is the middle dread claw a nodded anvillus? All looking superb!

It is a Kharybdis Assault Claw, the dreadclaws big brother biggrin.png Only thing I did was to leve the missilelaunchers off the, I think they look out of place on this model..

Where's the base face from?

It is from Scibor:

Purity Seal from GW, it is not 100% matt but enogh to get rid of the super gloss from the decals.

Now onto painting the Leviathan..

Very nice work. I know it's still WIP, but I think the brass would look great if you made it look a little brighter.

It only looks so dark because of the bad lighting, in reality it is bright as the top parts.

The Leviathan is very close to be finished, but today I want to talk about my Rhinos.

I started this army when FW first released the older armor sets, back in 2010. There were no FW rules, no vehicles, nothing. So I build them as a Khorne Berzerker Chaos army, with mostly mk3 armor. To also have the Heresy flair on the vehicles I converted Land Raider and Rhinos based on the Plastik Kits to look like the older variants. The two Rhinos I am playing with today are still those old conversions:

When FW released WE decals I added them to the old vehicles and when I lerned to use oils and pigments I also took the vehicles back on the painting table to add the effects. But even with these alterations they never looked like my newer vehicles. I now decided after long and good service to replace them with the Deimos pattern:

One of them will also function as a Command Rhino:

It is a bit sad to let them go, but the Deimos fits better in the established vehicle range and this will give me a chance to paint them also fitting the newer vehicles.

To a later date I might also retire my old Vindicator and Land Raider conversions..

Can't wait to see the Leviathan man! Those tanks look bulky, like even more bulky then normal. Have they got extra armour or something?

EDIT: I think the bulky look is coming from those dozer blades and them sitting so low, effectively making the Rhino look squat. Where did the blades come from?

I can't believe I didn't read the whole thread, I totally missed all the sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet Mechanicum stuff! Gah.

Need more...paint...more.

Also could you please share your weathering tips for WE vehicles? I'm about to do my Spartan and would love some tips as I've never done a tank before.

As a very old question, how did you play your Brass Scorp? As a counts in, or do you have it for Rule of Cool ont he shelf? I reaaaally want one and always have :|

The white is done alle with oils. I undercoat the model in a nice even white. I then wash it with a selfmade oilwash (a bit of brown and black oilcolor mixed with a lot of odorless solvant) after aplying the wash you have a few hours to modifiy the result. With a clean, soft brush you can make streaks, with a brush with solvant you can erase. It is hard to explain but very easy and intuitive when you once try it.

If you don't want to mix it yourself there are also premade solutions, this video from MIG Jimenez shows some of his products:

"Filter" is basicly the oilwash I mix myself, the "steaking effects" is a oilwash with less solvant.

There are also some nice special effects from AK Interactive, like the glossy engine oil I love to use.

After applying the oils it needs to dry at least 24h and then I add some dry pigments to represent dust and then spray seal it with Purity Seal.

I never played the scorpion to be honest. But when I do some day I will use his original rules, I think they fit very well into existing age of darknes superheavys.

You guys remember Jeddek? Well I finally painted him up, took me only close to two years...

"Jeddek was the Standard Bearer of the elite 8th Assault Company under the command of Captain Khârn. At the time of the Horus Heresy, Jeddek was one of the oldest living World Eaters. He’d crusaded across the stars from the Legion’s founding, long before they rediscovered the Primarch’s homeworld, or started recruiting from worlds beyond Terra. He was one of the first successful volunteers to under the implantation of the Butcher's Nails neural implants. Having worn the Nails longer than anyone, Jeddek felt nothing outside of slaughter -- no smiles, no tears, nothing. He possessed a dead-eyed glare, murmuring to himself in a low monotone between battles, until he was once again turned loose upon an enemy. Only then could he feel, experiencing a palette of emotions beyond staring at everything and nothing with his face twitching in pained distraction. Jeddek was eventually killed upon Angron's homeworld of Nuncia during the Shadow Crusade by the avenging Ultramarines Legion, who had been tracking Lorgar whereabouts for the atrocity committed against the Imperial world of Calth."
