+ The Jericho Crusade + Sword Brethren Cometh!

Acebaur

Thanks guys, glad you are liking it! So I decided to go with the red tips on the missiles because I can't make up my mind and don't want to waste time worrying about it when there are vows to finish!!!

So here is an update.

Here is the one side of the Eagle. You'll notice that there is space below the Suffer Not. I got this idea that I want to have this vehicle keep track of kills like a WWII plane.  However, since that could get ridiculous over time with the amount of games that can be played I think I'm going to make them "ace" kills. Usually an ace pilot has at least 5 kills so I'm going to add a tiny cross for ever 5 kills the ship gets.

Here is the other side. So I was going to put those 3 crusade badges on the top like you see there, but I was wondering if that might leave the other side to "bare" if you will.  Or do you think once I get some kills with it that that will make up for it?

And the base is done!

That base looks awesome.

I like the 3 badges, but maybe you should keep some room for your own? (unless that's already in those 3. So many badges around these days, I get confused....)

The ace-kill tally is a cool idea. What do you plan on using as killmarkers?

I think the idea of the ace kill markers is a fantastic one.

Quick question, and I'm sure I will catch flak for this, but what transfer sheet is that that has the "Suffer not the unclean to live" and "lead us to his strength and an eternity of war" on them?

Thanks guys!

The decals are indeed from the FW sheet. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/SPACE_MARINE_TRANSFER_SHEETS/BLACK-TEMPLARS-TRANSFER-SHEET.html If you zoom in you can see the block of writing on the right side.

Which is also the answer to Andhil's question. Underneath the script section there are a ton of tiny little crosses. Those will be my ace kill markers.

I will the keep 3 badges on the one side. They are in order oldest to newest going from left to right, the Vinculus Crusade, the Second Purging of Lastrati, and the Armageddon Crusade. Since the Eagles are generally old(sometimes thousands of years) I wanted to incorporate some of the older crusades.  I went back a couple hundred years and kept to stuff in the same region of the galaxy to make it plausible(not that anyone besides me really cares though :laugh.:)

As for leaving room for my crusade badge, I'm putting it in the as yet unpainted shield on nose area. Since it has a sword going through it, I thought that badge would always be the "active" crusade the Eagle is currently a part of.

That makes a lot of sense! All of that. :laugh.:

That's a tiny shield though. I know, I put one on my Talon. Thank Dorn I chose a simple badge. :tongue.:

Yeah, you mean for painting? It's not much smaller than the one on the door, so I think I'll be ok ;)

You know, suddenly I feel like a bad BT. I literally read C:BT yesterday, including the Crusade Badges Ace's using. I can't believe I missed the Armageddon one. The entire time I kept thinking:" I know these badges. Who here uses them?" :wallbash:

EDIT: That's true. It's definitely doable. Looking forward to the end result!

So I finished the Storm Eagle! Here are some pics under different lighting(fluorescent and incandescent) as I don't have a light box and I'm no good at using my wife's badass DSLR camera. Apologies for any quality issues, I'll see if I can get my wife to take some better shots to replace these with.

Hope you guys like it!

I don't really need to see something as awesome as this. I really don't.

I just love that model and seeing it in Templar livery is so painfully temping. You did a wonderful job and it appears that you overcame the modeling deficiencies to produce a real winner.

Wow.

Thanks Brothers, I appreciate the compliments. They fill me with ZEAL to finish my LRC so I can start on some infantry. I'll eventually paint and finish the other weapon systems that will allow it to work as a Stormraven as well, but since they dont' count for the ETL they will have to wait.

So the main chassis of the LRC is glued together. Here is a shot.

Why is only one track on you ask? Why great question! Let me explain :laugh.:  I wanted to make sure the door mechanics worked properly before covering them up. Turns out they didn't and so I had to do some work on it. But it's much better now.

Also thought I'd share this. Painted the inside of the upper door. Here's a question

What comes out of a LRC?

Answer

Why nothing but pure ZEAL of course! http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k48/Acebaur/40K/20140512_213822_zpskalc2a0a.jpg

That's really funny, I'd love to see your opponents face when you start popping termies down under that on the assault ramp. Nothing but Zeal, baby.

"This is sword brother Zeal, and his close friend brother Zeal, along with reclusiarch Zeal."

'...?'

"Yeah, it gets pretty confusing when we do squad role-call."

  • 2 weeks later...

So I'm sorry for the lack of updates on the LRC but I've been working hard on it and wanted to get it done before the ETL update this week. So without further adieu, I present to you, the almighty Land Raider Crusader! (Note that I'm now using a lightbox that I recently built, still just my camera phone but much better lighting I think)

The side door here had a huge shield so since vehicles almost always have a red or white cross(for me anyway) I decided to paint the shield white so I could go with a traditional black cross
