rumor alert: sob model shortages expected

Recommended Posts

Gw is sold out in parts of Europe and Africa. I'm talking almost completely. Considering gw isn't making metal models anymore you can expect a possible shortage in other nations in order to cover their bases such as the usa or Canada.

This was an unconfirmed rumor started at dakka dakka's general discussion sub-forum I can't link right this minute sorry

This may result in sob moving to resin thought don't quote me.

I hate to rain on your parade but we've heard such things before and they amounted to nothing. Plus Finecast is almost certainly dead - especially for new endeavours. I'd take this with copious amounts of salt if I were you, it sounds like an old rumour recycled (perhaps even a third time?).

Here in the hallowed cloisters of the SoB we learnt many years ago to do no more than take note of new rumours. What will be will be - in the meantime carry on purging in the name of the Emperor as it's business as normal :)

This seems to be a recurring rumor.  I wish I had a model for every time GW ran out of SoB and quit making metal models.

If you email GW, they can give you estimated dates on when sold out models will be back in stock.  They are not desigining models for metal nor are they producing any more molds but I can assure you, they are still producing metal figures on limited runs and as demand warrents.  As long as the model is on the web page -- even if it is out of stock -- it is still in production.  It takes some time and effort to start up a metal productions line and break it down again once it is done so they have to wait until the stock is low enough to warrent the effort.

I don't want to sound jaded or like i am trying to put you down because I really like to keep an eye on these thinngs.  Thanks for letting us know.  It might not be anything yet but one day we will see models running out of stock world wide and being removed from the pages.  That's when you know the end is nigh.

Yeah, I look forward to the day we all think "here we go again" and then some leaked pictures of new models creep out... Whether I still give a damn about what GW is doing by then is another question though ermm.gif

Maybe ....

Most of the missing models are showing as "No longer available" instead of out of stock.  Others, like the plasma pistol Seraphim Superior, are no longer listed at all.

These are listed as "Temporarily out of stock."

Adepta Sororitas Command Squad

Uriah Jacobus, Protector of the Faith

Missionary with Chainsword

Sisters of Battle Hospitaller

Here's the list of models "No longer available" yet still on the USA web page

Retributor Squad

Adepta Sororitas Dominion Squad

Sisters of Battle Superior with Power Maul

Missionary with Plasma Gun

Battle Sister with Storm Bolter 1

Probably just more site shenanigans as we've seen many times before. If I remember right, the old site didn't have "no longer available" as an option so it could easily mean nothing? Hold on to your Sabbat helms and wait and see... as always! :P

Are we about to get elevated to the tier of specialist games?

Spoken in hushed tones when discussing the ages past when everything was better...

I don't think so.  Not after the amount of coverage Sisters got in the 7th ed books.  But there are few models on the site then there have been.  Battle Sister with Storm Bolter 1 may be listed as unavailable but #2 is not there at all.

Unless I'm imagining it, didn't someone post somewhere about GW making new molds and such for the SoB and for a short time people wouldn't be able to pick up any? I am fairly sure the post I'm refering to happened, so maybe it is just that, but I have genuinely been hallucinating lately too.

I'm not speculating on anything here beyond what is on the web site.  Some models are there, some are pulled, some are labeled out of stock and some are labeled no longer available.  No salt required for that part.

What you infer from there is your own business.

HAHA to the link. We've been hearing for years now from the phone boyz that plastics are coming, emphasis on years. As for looking in the new rule book, the only new model I found was the new ork dread big thingy. It will be nice if and when it happens but, until then....

If Sisters go plastic, I'd start an army of 'em on the spot.

However, I can't help but feel it's highly unlikely. The GW store site often seems to throw wobblies, and several things have disappeared from there, inciting a furore of speculation, only to reappear as usual...

Aye, I buckled and bought a few of the metal models recently, but they're so darned expensive. Just for a small troops choice and a Canoness cost me nearly £60. I'd love to have a full Sisters army but at the current prices that's not gonna happen. Unless I'm really lucky on ebay. Problem is sellers see how much these things are worth (can't blame 'em) and price accordingly. I'd like to think that GW are finally going to make plastic Sisters a reality but I'm a pessimist when it comes to GW these days.

I know what you mean. I got lucky and bought my Sisters army a bit at a time starting in 2nd ed., and have over a hundred models and fourteen vehicles. If I were to try and get that army now, I would have to basically sell my house.

I think that one of the reasons GW keeps pushing the plastic Sisters back is because of low sales of the metal models. Not too surprising, considering the cost. sad.png
