P3 paint, to me, has the best range of unique tones on the market... every color has an interesting undertone, like the blues or browns in the greys... when you mix a bunch of water a drop of the paint, and let it sit for a bit, you will see the undertones clearly... Greatcoat Grey, for example, has a lot of blue in it, while Bastion Grey has a lot of brown, and Cryx Bane Base has a lot of green, yet they are all greys... this runs through the whole line... also the basic liquid pigments in the paint make for a very smooth paint, with awesome coverage... carrying on, i got the wings nearly done... i just need to tweak the little shadows on the feathers a bit, and get the last layer of pure white down... next i will be doing the step-by-step for the skull and base:)... http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/jah-minis/wips/Sangwings1_zpse70285f9.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/jah-minis/wips/Sangwings2_zps7f35dd83.jpg thanks for looking, and taking the time to comment... cheers jah Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jah-joshua Posted September 29, 2014 Author Share Posted September 29, 2014 hey B&C... i got the skull for the base done... i went with the browner greys, so the color would not compete with the white on the Sanguinary Priest... step one was the same as the whites, with a basecoat of pure P3 Greatcoat Grey... http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/jah-minis/wips/skull_zps94864e1a.jpg step two was a coat of pure P3 Bastion Grey, leaving a bit of the basecoat showing where i wanted to define the recessed areas... http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/jah-minis/wips/skull1_zps7dd0ea5a.jpg step three was a layer of pure P3 Trollblood Highlight, covering a little less area than step two... http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/jah-minis/wips/skull2_zpsa546a185.jpg the final step, number four, was a 1-3 mix of Trollblood Highlight and P3 Morrow White... http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/jah-minis/wips/skull3_zps8e469f50.jpg and that's it, a well defined skull, that is not too bright, so should not draw the eye away from the helmet of the Priest... next up, the base, and then final pics!!! thanks for looking... i hope everyone had a good weekend... cheers jah Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Sang Priest has an astounding level of detail, yet the way you've broken down the steps make it seem like we could all do it. Kinda.... :D So, when you paint your armies, do you do each mini individually, or do you batch paint? Cos I imagine an army of guys at this level of detail would take quite a while to complete.
