Guest
Hello All, Ive just received a set of DV characters via Ebay purchase and have started converting them for use in my DIY Space Marine chapter. I wanted to get some feed back as this has been my first major conversion attempt. First up is the sergeant, which I plan on using in an HQ role, probably as a captain, all I've done here is swap some hands, and add a bolt pistol holder http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/mgm6241/BF7A7D0D-2DF8-4D82-BDD4-0E86D15C03FA_zpsmweef6is.jpg Next is the Libby whose force sword i swapped for a force axe and repositioned the arm, as well as removing all DA symbols. I had to use a little bit of GS to cover the DA symbol on his bib. http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/mgm6241/66E9463E-E9DF-4B9E-983C-EC7E48226729_zpsgdiszfgp.jpg The Captain is the most serious job of the three and is my primary concern. I want to know if my GSing looks good and how i could improve it. Ive totally rebuilt his upper body and a significant portion of his cloak to facilitate the change of weaponry from the relic blade to dual Power fists. Im thinking that some liquid green stuff will help make the cloak folds look a bit smoother. Can any one confirm or deny this hunch? http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/mgm6241/223EC89E-8481-48E0-AE0C-1687B1930B75_zpsi1qnfj8z.jpg http://i840.photobucket.com/albums/zz322/mgm6241/4DAD5E68-FC3C-47DF-BC52-5F45E29EA8F2_zps5h4wjjfi.jpg Thanks for looking and please leave some feed back, I would like to really nail this project and your help will be invaluable. Squeaky
Don't use liquid green stuff on the cloak! It actually has a fine grit to it. Not sure what making your own is like, or how you do that (helpful I know). What's better is glass paper/ultra fine sand paper. This isn't a bad tutorial on cloaks: http://fromthewarp.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/how-to-sculpt-greenstuff-cloaks-and.html?m=1 hopefully it gives you some tips that help. But I think all you need is a bit more practice it something you can't pick up straight away. One thing to remember is that green stuff doesn't support its own weight so sags as it hardens :) Anyway love the dual power fists! Lol 2 is better than one. Also the sergeant/Captian is cool. I know he is commanding his army but on a slightly more comical note, kinds looks like he is going to throw his thunder hammer XD "Go long!" Grand Master Caloth
*quotes Thor* You want me to put the hammer down!? Lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/292757-dark-vengeance-da-character-conversions/#findComment-3724924 Share on other sites
Hyaenidae
Double power fist dude is pretty cool, man. The cloak definitely needs a bit of work, but I think he'll look awesome in the end. Captain Juan Juarez
I like these Marines - Dual Power Fist guy is particularly awesome - but although the GS on the last dudes cloak looks off to my eyes, I can't really comment properly as I've never used it.
