I've been waiting to make actual lists until battlescribe was updated lol. I didn't know it was kind of a community thing someone needed to take charge of...

If you are willing to do that and it isn't too much trouble that would save a lot of time, I think I have everything I'm missing back a page. I'll add 'Terminator Captain' to that list now that I think of it. You can message me or whatever's easiest.

Am I being too picky wanting to see the words myself that I'm putting into it? This game has such a subtlety to the wording that it wracks my nerves otherwise, regardless of the source. Otherwise it could be no rules in Battlescribe and just units and Formations.

You also have to bear in mind that Battlescribe will be going to a subscription model sometime in the near future.  That being said, I've messed with adding things to it in the past.

There's always been a paid version and a free version, do you have any details on this statement? If I can effectively make this big 'ol edit happen I'll gladly buy in; I use the damn thing enough and it's a couple bucks really.

So is there like no one person or group that created/updates Battlescribe? It's just kind of like a community thing? I don't get it lol

Yeah i'll take some pics, it's really not much i don't think. I don't think you are being too picky.  You are putting a lot of time into this, better to make sure you have the correct info

The need section fully up to date?

I'm excited to tell people in my group that i helped(barely) with this in a bragging manner lol

Battlescribe makes the program, the people make the content/files. Very similar to Kodi (formerly XBMC) and streaming video.

My 'need' section should be up to date I think, though if you see anything in the book that I don't have in the list feel free to send it over. I don't need the whole page just the bottom where its got the meat of the matter.

As for the time...lets just not think of that (probably already been a few hours figuring it out, not including my previous attempts) I used to make good money doing data entry/management but quit because it crushed my soul. I'm getting through this solely on my love of Blood Angels and desire to have a functional repository of information.

PM sent. I really appreciate you doing this man, as do a lot of other BA players i'm sure.

So when a new dex or edition comes out, does the community have designated people somewhere that update each or is it a free for all so to speak? Someone just updates it and thats that i guess?

Edit: let me know if you need more!

A million thanks fine sir! Once I get a roll on this it would be really lame to have to stop and look for pics like those. I'm not sure I can commit to a timeline for this but I'll do my best and keep you updated through this thread.

Winning:

I posted in spoiler tags due to points cost showing, will delete if it violates B&C rules I'm just happy to be making progress after a couple speed bumps *coughaccidentallycorrupteddatagladIsavetomultiplefilelocationscough*

Now that I'm getting used to it...

Finished:

-DC Chaplain

-Relics of the Lost

-Golden Host

-Orbital Intervention Force

-Devastator and Assault updates

-Vehicle squadrons

-DC Strike Force

-Battle Demi-Company

-Chapter Ancients

-Archangels Demi-Company

To Do:

-super formation bonuses and compositions (can't do these until I have Formations complete)

-Lucifer Armoured Task Force

-10th Co. Ambush Force

-Stormraven Squadron

-Terminator Captain

-DC Warlord Traits

So. Much. Clicking. No keyboard shortcuts when you're doing stuff like this, it's all right-click this and right-click that.

EDIT: I guess I should do Stormravens in squadrons a la Death From the Skies, eh? Maybe make it possible to make a Flyer Wing in an Air Superiority Detachment..though I think I'd rather take my Flyers in the Formation from Angel's Blade.

Keep up the great work man! Let me know if I can help out any more!

I have no opinion on the SR squadrons, so no help for you there I'm afraid. I ignore flyers and the new rules for them at this point in time.

This is where I saw the info: https://www.facebook.com/notes/battlescribe/battlescribe-20-is-coming/1142517079152504

For those not on FB:

I wanted to give everyone a heads up and get some feedback. It’s a bit of a long post, so hold on to your hats! Please have a read through and let me know what you think - good or bad.
Update: I posted an FAQ about the yearly pass system: https://www.facebook.com/notes/batt...
BattleScribe 2.0 is an (almost) complete re-write of the app, and has been my main focus for the last year or so. The target for the first release is to have all the same features (Pro or otherwise) as before - so there won’t be any big new features right away. That said, the user interface on mobile has had a huge facelift and looks much nicer now.

The main changes are a huge overhaul of the data file format and editing tools. This should make the lives of data authors much easier, leading to better data files for us all. The re-write of the app also leaves things in a much better state going forward, making it much easier for me to build upon with new features and updates in future.

Suffice to say, this has been a huge effort. BattleScribe’s core systems have been completely rebuilt to enable a brighter future for the app and it’s ecosystem for years to come. If you’d like to give it a go, you can find the Alpha version here:

Desktop: https://github.com/BattleScribe/Des... [https://github.com/battlescribe/desktop-alphas/issues/1&h=caqhesq0s&s=1_hackersafe]
Android: https://github.com/BattleScribe/And... [https://github.com/battlescribe/android-alphas/issues/1&h=waqfmz2i7&s=1_hackersafe]
iOS: https://github.com/BattleScribe/iOS... [https://github.com/battlescribe/ios-alphas/issues/1&h=saqev9o4q&s=1_hackersafe]

Now the hard part. BattleScribe 2.0 is going to be a “new” app, separate from the old one, and will require you to pay again to unlock Pro features on all the various platforms. This update truly deserves the “2.0” name though. It really is a completely new beast.

Of course this brings with it some issues.

Existing Pro users who’ve already paid for the old version may well be upset, particularly if they only recently bought the previous Pro version. And justifiably so - I completely understand why you might feel this way.
Some time in the future, there will likely be BattleScribe 3.0 (followed by 4.0 and so on), which would again require a new purchase. And we will have to go through all of this again. Essentially there is some amount of uncertainty about how long your purchase will last (at least going forward).

So the plan right now is to move to a “Pro Pass” model for BattleScribe, where you would pay to unlock the Pro features for a certain period of time. Your pass/time remaining would be associated with an account you create on the BattleScribe website.
Don’t panic! Let me clarify and lay out my thoughts on how this would work.

The “Pro Pass” for one year would be priced around $5 per-platform. You would get a discount for buying a pass for multiple platforms. You would also have the option to purchase passes for different lengths of time (1 month? 10 years? etc). There would be no automatic renewal of your pass - you would choose when or if you want to buy a new pass.
I should be able to implement a system where existing Pro users who have bought the old version of the app will get their first year pass for free or at a heavy discount ($1 for example).
It removes the uncertainty about when/if a new version is coming. The app will just continue to be updated and you will always have access to it. You can purchase a Pro Pass as and when you want to, and the app will just revert to the free version when your Pass runs out.
With an account, it would be possible to extend your Pass across platforms - Android, iOS and Desktop. This opens the option to have a “Bundle Pass” that unlocks Pro on all of your devices/systems, for a discount.

Essentially, BattleScribe’s development is an ongoing process that never really ends. Any veteran BattleScribe users will know how much has changed and improved over the years! And it will continue to do so as I work on introducing new features and improvements over time. I feel that a time-based system for purchasing BattleScribe Pro would better reflect this continuing work.
What about this “account” business? I guess some of you might be uncertain about this, and to be honest I was very uneasy about the idea at first too. So let me explain.
Firstly, BattleScribe would use a “login with Google” (or Facebook or other trusted third party) system that I’m sure you’ve seen before. BattleScribe would only have access to your email address and name (so you can be contacted in case of a problem - it would never be shared with anyone else, ever). This is just a way of confirming that you are who you say you are so that BattleScribe can securely look up the Passes you have purchased.
An account brings some big benefits.

The passes would be stored in the BattleScribe database, outside of Google’s and Apple’s (restrictive) store systems. This gives a huge amount of flexibility over how they can managed. For example it allows me to extend passes or gift them to people.
Passes could be shared between all the devices and computers you are logged in on. This means that you could buy a pass that unlocks pro on all your devices at once (for example).
It opens up a lot of options for future BattleScribe apps/sites that may come along. I don’t know what those are yet! But being able to bring your data with you between apps is very powerful.

OK I’m done now! Here are some questions.

What do you think about having an “account”?
Would you buy BattleScribe Pro on a yearly basis? Are you an existing Pro user? Or someone who was thinking about buying Pro? Does this change things?
Do you buy “consumable” in-app-purchases in other apps? For example currency in-game-currency?

That all sounds quite fine actually, I'm totally willing to pay for this app and if it gets easier to use? Aw yiss. A couple bucks ain't bad considering the hours we spend each year poring over our lists and agonizing over how to make that crucial last few points. Not to mention those who rely on BS for rules as they start out or expand an army before buying the relevant books.

Bring on the advancements!

Ps. I got the Scout Formation done, but screwed up the Chapter Ancients one so one step forward one step back? At this rate I'll hopefully be done and all will be happy by the end of the week. Hopefully. Just realized I still need to make 'super formation' choices even if they aren't Formations unto themselves so there's a bit more to add to the pile.

I think the only thing I don't have is the point cost for the Terminator Captain now that I'm hunting through my pic folder. Aside from that I'm pretty sure I have everything I need, and I only need that if it's different than it is currently.
