elmo
Thanks Capt. I have a bottle of Typhus too but I will be sticking with the oil paint as I think I have enough left in the tube to last me 2 lifetimes and it works sooo well! Looking forward to your WIP @WF: as soon as I work out how to add the badge it will be Edit: Done it Do I get further promotions if I manage to finish the Chimera before the deadline??? CoffeeGrunt
What Oil paint do you use out of curiosity? I've been debating adding it to my repertoire. My own Vendetta has received glorious basecoating in preparation for weathering, washing and highlighting. Pics are in my thread here. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3802328 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
I'm afraid only one completion per challenge Elmo. If you want further promotions you'll have to wait until the next one ;) Keep up the great work everyone, this is demonstrating the might and devotion of the Imperial Guard! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3802613 Share on other sites
Sviar
Progress at last I did a few touch ups after these pictures. Sadly I can't retake the photos, becuse the gunners are already enclosed in the birds belly The Gunners Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3802973 Share on other sites

lionofjudah
Nice decking!! Are you going to drill the barrels? The wife is out of town tonight... I'm going to finish assembling chimera, prime it and hopefully base coat it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3803087 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
Patience is a virtue, we'll have more painting to be done soon enough ;) Looking good Sviar, seems like despite being the more work all the flyers are getting done first! lionofjudah
Lil bit of progress today as work got in the way last night. http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/4D57FFCA_zpsd8d5c602.jpg http://i1094.photobucket.com/albums/i444/Default75/Snapbucket/6F824D6B_zps0ace8c38.jpg Believe I am going to make a big tarp roll for the styrene track cover... otherwise I am going minimal stowage on this one. Will be drilling a hole for the antennae on the turret but thats how she will roll. CoffeeGrunt
I like the additional detail on that one, plus the Autocannon turret looks pretty boss. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3804391 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
You'll have to name this pattern of Chimera, it's looking very cool :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3804430 Share on other sites
Reyner
Do you guys paint the interior of your Chimeras? Any advice for doing so? WarriorFish
I'm not sure what you mean? There is no interior to the Chimera kit, aside from the inside of the rear hatch which will always be glued shut and the cupola hatch assuming you have the tank commander visible? elmo
Personally I don't as I glue the ramp closed. It would be possible, if the urge took you, to make your own detailing for the interior along the lines of the rhino with bench seats etc. If you do plan on painting the interior then check out images of how real tank interiors are painted for ideas. Reyner
Meh I'll just glue it, was building the tank last night and thought about it but on reflection it's only a mesh floor nothing exciting. WarriorFish
It would be easier with an old Chimera kit as the door on the rear hatch was separate, but as you'd not be able to see much of the interior it'd be more work than it's worth. Reyner
Sucks that the latest sets don't include track guards aswell :( I liked those. WarriorFish
Yeah, it's a bit rubbish but all it not lost - the old sprue is still for sale. Forge World also sells a fancy pair, I've got a set but I've not used them yet. elmo
Or you could try to make your own with plasticard. ;) Edit: that reminds me.. I must buy some plasticard. Kierdale
I often order myself one of the IG Tank Accessories sprue now and then. The bitz are always useful, and I like that you get a full crewman out of it. All the fuel cans, barrels and ammo boxes...great for stowage on vehicles, making objective markers or using on dioramas. CoffeeGrunt
I left my Valkyrie open and even added a tail gunner. Despite all that work, it's only visible if you hold it at just the right angle. captain sox
Here's a progress pic on my Valkyrie: http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a496/Odogg242/photo_zpsac23fe5f.jpg It's to go with my Scion Squad who will look something like dis: http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a496/Odogg242/photo2_zpsddbcb430.jpg I don't airbrush, so it takes me longer to paint. The coats are thin right now, but they will be filled in nicely. I'm also searching local hobby shops for appropriate nose art... otherwise I'll just make up one myself. I should have her done in time Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3805096 Share on other sites
Kierdale
Beautiful work, Sox! What's her name going to be? Over here in Japan hobby shops sell a lot of decal sheets for doing up mech models with extra detail. Some sheets include stuff which could make for nice nose art. I'm not sure if you can find anything like that in your area, but it's a suggestion. captain sox
Thanks for the compliment :) I have a friend who is big into Gundam, and he has some cool stuff. I haven't named her yet, but I will try and be creative! The nose is painted Dawnstone, though it looks like bare plastic Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295292-regiments-of-the-bc-treads-thrusters/page/5/#findComment-3805217 Share on other sites
