Today i took delivery of my squad of Reivers and my squad of Chaos marines let the kitbashing begin first call of business is to remove the skull and dagger logo from the primaris chestplates if i knew how to share photos i would post some up ..

Oooh, for the Malmö Wargaming Weekend 3? :biggrin.:

Yep! Bringing the Alpha Legion with aspirations of doing well! List is currently:

Battalion (Alpha Legion)

Exalted Champion

Sorcerer

Winged DP of Khorne

2x40 Cultists (MoS)

10xCultists

20xKhorne Berzerkers

Battalion (Red Corsairs)

Huron (Warlord for +1 CP)

Sorcerer with jump pack and Red Bull

3x10 Cultists

10xWarp Talons (MoK)

Patrol (Khorne)

Bloodmaster/Herald

30xBloodletters

It still depends on whether I can get that much painted (I need to paint 40 Cultists after stripping 80 or so, 30 Bloodletters, and 20 Khorne Berzerkers), but it is feasible. It also depends on whether I can manage time- and money-wise.

You going?

I return to share, my fellow Legionnaires. Let it bring inspiration to us all for the quickly approaching ETL. First, my Possessed.

They're mostly done, like all the stuff I've been working on lately. Final touch-ups and decals will all come in one final batch with all the rest. What I found, though, is that the DV Chosen make a perfect starting point for 'better' possessed. They're all bulkier than the Mk. III and IV Marines, so it really helps them stand out. The fact that the models are already dripping with daemon-tainted goodness only makes them that much better.

And then something I just put together: my new Assault Lord.

I don't know why it hit me, but one day I suddenly had the thought "I wonder if I could put together a jump pack Lord posed mid-stab?" Well, with a fair application of a spare Guardsman, some Raptor bits, a XXth torso, and pieces of a Raven Guard Dark Fury, I learned that yes, I could craft such a thing. You could say that Deliverance Lost some equipment... heh... heh...

Still have big plans for more to come. I've got plans for a jump Sorcerer, just need the bits for 'im. Same for some kitbash Obliterators... I reckon after a bit of light de-Nurglefication, the bodies of a trio of Blightlord Terminators will make for a great starting point. From what I can tell, they're already a bit bigger in size than the regular Cataphractii, so it should provide that heavy, swollen Oblit look well. Some other bits to taste, a healthy application of greenstuff, and I'm thinking spare Helbrute heads/faces if they'll fit, and yeah. We shall see what magic I can weave.

Blightlord terminators are taller than normal Cataphractii by at least a head, and quite wider. If you want the "heavy and swollen", the Deathshroud are even bigger than the Blightlords.

I can also confirm the Helbrute faces fit, they just need some trimming of the excess fleshy stuff.

Thanks for the confirmation of Blightlord sizes and Helbrute faces, Gederas. Cheers for that!

With the Deathshroud... yeah, I looked at them too, and they are beefy. Plus, those, uh... "insect hive" things on top would easily convert into the "smokestack" that the actual Oblit models have. Trouble is finding bits for just the torsos/legs. Granted, I haven't tried super hard, but cursory eBay and Google searches always turns up nil.

I know I want a few of the Blightlords for myself but have yet to see any in person. However, I know the Deathshroud are huge in comparison to most marines and do make the plastic cataphractii from BaC look small. If you get some to convert please post!

Iron Father Ferrum, I will have to check out the report. Always good to see things go as planned. *Steeple my fingers, whisper 'yes' a few times.

@hushrong: Don't worry. Once the process begins, I'll be sure to reveal how well the conversion idea pans out. You'll all see every gribbly detail unfold.

@Dr_Ruminahui: Thanks! They served quite poorly on the tabletop, sadly, but at least they looked good doing it. Still, Mech T'au is hardly an idea match-up for Possessed. The eight lascannons and Defiler I brought, however...

Glad our deployment stratagem is immune to the "no first turn deep strike outside of deployment" restriction, although only one time use of Tide of Traitors hurts. I wonder if that means if Vect's Agents cancel it out you're out of luck, or you can use it successfully once per game.

Anyway, the new Chosen rules are pretty cool. You can have 5 plasma guns in the unit plus I guess a combi- on the Champ.

Oh man. That looks goooood!

*Is that a tiny conversion Beamer being toted around?

Yup!

"The Lernaean Terminators kit is perfect for making a worthy bodyguard for Alpharius, and has a range of tactical roles in your Alpha Legion army. It also features a Terminator-mounted conversion beamer – a rare weapon that transforms the squad into a long-ranged firebase! Even if you don’t use this weapon on your squad, it’s ideal for converting a Master of the Forge in Terminator armour."

I like the new chosen, going to try a unit with 5 plasma, 1 combi plasma and 5 power swords

Gedera, So if I buy this unit not only do I get a sweet looking terminator unit I also get a mini conversion beamer? That's a friggin win-win! I already have 10 terminators for Alpha Legion but five more won't hurt, right? And that conversion beamer would be nice for another warpsmith conversion. I have one already that I do not use on the field anymore...so he needs a friend!

adreal, Let us know how they work out. I like that they can have that CQC weapon to use with their attacks. I just wonder if it makes them more worth it after spending more points.

I agree adreal, something about chosen just makes them sound like the sneaky snakes the Alpha Legion would use.

Excessus, after seeing and reading about micahwc's use of a scorpius I wanted one. More often than not I will roll and get a ton of shots but whiff on 90% of them. Or I get just a few shots and wreck face. I did use the hunter (?) to build mine though before knowing it was an anti air tank. I do like the look though and want to get one more.

I have yet to play against nids. What was pumping out so many shots?

I'm looking at chosen as slightly more expensive Havocs who can fight in melee if they have to, free Chainswords for everyone is nice for this. Alternatively, Havocs but in an elite slot for help fill out a Brigade with even more command points!

Some big monsters with big guns did some horrible damage to my tanks, but the guard dudes that don't have to see their target did a loooooot of damage as well...and a million shots by the termagaunts and warriors slaugheterd my forward operatives... :(

Nids can build pretty shooty lists with double shooting Devil Gaunts, Dakkafex, Guards and Warriors, yeah. Also Biovores launching Mortal Wounds from 48" away and when they don't hit create a Spore Mine.

They got a great Codex with lots of options.

Fellow Heads of the Hydra, in the name of the Aleph Null, I seek your counsel.

I find myself in a fortunate position. I have a full squad of mk. IV Marines just dying for assembly and painting. Plus, there's no shortage of armor/weapon bits available to mix and match. But, I have one of those problems that isn't a problem: I already have enough rank and file bodies for the XXth. So I come here for advice.

My first idea was Chosen, given the new changes, but I already have plans for that (which means getting another Deathwatch squad and converting it), so that's not an option I'll pursue. Havocs are already set - while they are not yet fully painted, I already have four of each heavy weapon, and that's enough for me. I have Lords, Sorcerers, and Champions a-plenty as is, with plans for more once future bits are ordered. Thus, I come here. I think it's time i try out some new paint. And I'd love to maybe add an extra bit of power armor to my upcoming ETL vow.

What Legion and/or Warband should I assemble to add to my forces? Granted, as it stands, I already have a couple thousand points of Scourged (shocking, right?) hanging out in my display case... so I'll go ahead and rule them out. But who, then, should I add to my forces? Iron Warriors? Black Legion? Red Corsairs? The Purge? This is why I come to you all, my fellow operatives - I need suggestions. As of this moment of writing, my aspirations are really only for painting. My battle plans still remain pure XXth, or possibly including a patrol of Renegades (how about a Scourged scourge-brute, eh?). But, knowing me... whatever I start painting I'll want to keep painting, so who knows...? Or, to put it in a more meta way... which paint scheme would look best for Chaos on a set of mk. IV marines, with maybe some Chaos arms and heads and shoulder pads?

Which sorry lot of Legion/Renegade forces will blindly swear their allegiance to the Hydra, whether knowingly or not? And how shall they be armed? I look forward to reading your dead drops from an undisclosed location free from the prying eyes of our enemies... and our allies.

Do you have any lore written up for your Warband? That could serve as inspiration for them. HH: Extermination puts the Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves as their closest friends, alongside the Iron Hands and Dark Angels. There were issues with the Fists, Thousand Sons, Night Lords, Death Guard, and the Ultramarines. Apparently, the Emperor intervened personally to stop two high-ranking officers of the Fists and the Alpha Legion from "blood being spilt." In 40k, they fight alongside the DG in the Konor System, ally with Fallen, and aid the Black Legion with gene-seed.

My Harrow's history places them alongside the Sons of Horus/Luna Wolves at the start of the Great Crusade, then with the Dark Angels and Space Wolves during the Rangdan Xenocides. During the Heresy, they're back with the Sons of Horus and Tiger Eyes Titan Legion (having fought at both the Isstvan Beach Party and Paramar). During the Scouring, they helped a company of Thousand Sons, whom were attempting suicidal attacks against the Space Wolves as vengeance for Prospero, annihilate a company of Space Wolves.

To me, this translates into allies within the Sons of Horus (NOT the Black Legion), Thousand Sons, Tiger Eyes (my goal is to have several Chaos Warhound Titans), some Fallen, and since they operate in the Galactic East/Macragge/Ghoul Stars, the Red Corsairs at times, in addition to Renegade Guard Regiments and whatever minor warbands I might like painting up.
