Ive decided to join the sons of lorgar instead of becoming one of the new kids on the block (crimson slaughter) heres a bit of fluff for my forces

Word Bearers 115th host The Exalted Sons Chapter

Led by: Chapter Master Lord Arkyrial Chosem of the Gods

The exalted sons are a chapter of word bearers who can trace their liniage back to the days befire the heresy. Even back then many joked that due ti their rather concieted nature they should of join the Emperors children. The reason for this apparent concietedness was simple. Arkryrial demanded that his warriors were as well trained as the marines of the sons of horus

Once the word bearers had begun the pilgramige this became more apparrent due ti the chapter recruiting more and spreading the word of lorgar. When the legion began to worship chaos the Exalted Sons accepted this with enthuisism and with a fiery passion. Its said the chapter earnt a great deal of respext from the other legions even several ultramarine commanders praised them.

This is all ive got so far

Last Spring I started working on some Heresy-era Word Bearers, but as per usual, I got side-tracked. But the memories stayed. I remember being outside in the middle of April, enjoying the cool, but nice New England weather painting Tamiya Clear Red onto models, and it has ranked in my top 10 list of favorite hobby seasons. This spring I want to repeat it.

I've grown increasingly interested in the scorched earth tactics of the Star of Judgment Chapter, and while there's very little fluff about them, it just means that I have more room to invent!

Expect to see a lot of Lord Akrid Shankara, Chapter Master of the Star of Judgment Chapter, and commander of the Gloriana-class battleship the Downfall of Heaven and his merciless band of murderous fanatics.

Hi everyone, I'm not a WB player anymore, but I did have a large stint in them and I DO do have something to tell you guys which I hope you'll like.

I'm starting a new B&C event soon called Augustus' Arena: the B&C Inter-Frater Hobby Challenge, the purpose of which is to strengthen the bonds between B&C frater through friendly hobby challenges. The intent is that any frater can challenge another frater to make one legal unit within a time frame set my the challenged, while the challenger acts as a coach and motivator to the challenged, with feedback and encouragement on the updates of the challenged of his/her progress. If enough frater join in, this will create a dense interconnecting network of challenges that will yield a ton of fun, banter, and hopefully excellent miniatures. Of course there will be cool banners, medallions and awards in the end. :tu:

if you preachers like the idea, please let me know and I´ll post an invite here :d

I am going to have to get my Anointed force up here.  I have been building and entire anointed force since reading the Word Bearers trilogy about Marduk.  I currently have about 40 termis plus hq built, on top of 3 land raiders and a dread.  I even have a Darioq-Grendal in the works.  I have plans laid out for the last 60 termis.

Will post a bit of fluff for one of my squads

Rapherials Crimson Angels

Rapherials crimson angels are a squad of specialist assault unit from one of the Exalted Sons assault company. Before the heresy these warriors were feared due to their zeolot nature they believed themselved to be manifestations of the Emperor. While all of the other legions assault marines genetlrally wore the same colours ss their legion the exalted sons assault companies wore gold helmets.

As the word bearers began the pilgrimage after the events of monachia the crimson angels became more feared by their enemies due to them becoming more vicious. As the word bearers changed their armour colour to the dark red and the heresy began these warriors became more feared and the entire assault compsny took the name of the crimson angels.

As the heresy went on the company began to fall to the blood god while most of their brothers shunned them Lord Arkryial allowed them to stay part of the chapter due to them being excellent warriors.

To the modern day when its rumored that the exalted sons chapter can match in size some of the largest warbands this company has grown in size ti the point of it numbers 400 marines. These warriors prefere the short ranged weapons like the melta gun due to them prefaring to take on what appears to some people yo be suicidal missons. Due to this they are most commonly fielded in 5 man teams

Greetings brothers of the Word.

I will introduce you to my Host;

Chapter of the Unturned Page

The Unturned Page is an ancient chapter composed from the remnants of several companies of the Word Bearers legion. It was Lorgar in his drive to expand his legion that was the main reason behind the creation of the Unturned Page. Foreseeing a decade or more of ruthless combat between the astartes legions and the needs of his crusade in the Ultima Segmentum, the Unturned Page was created in order to provide warriors willing to fight and die for the Word.

The Chapter of the Unturned Page came to existence as a premier formation for Planetstrike missions hence the expendable nature of its warriors. Harvested by thousands and turned into astartes in the Harvesting Stations on blessed Colchis, the space marines of this Host were expected to descend onto a planet in waves of Dreadclaws, brave the enemy guns and wreak havoc on the ground. It was this callous nature of their calling which led to the name of the chapter. The Unturned Page is a page which will never be read, never its mystery will be divined nor its potential will come to be, that is what a warrior of the Unturned Page was and still is, expendable, simple, devoted to the Word. Death was expected in the dire descent on the planet, perhaps one out of three astartes squads making it to the ground, staggering losses were already planned and the commanders were asked to concentrate solely on their duty and mind not the warriors in their charge. An astartes of the Unturned Page knows that his life is a brief and finite one, either snuffed out like a candle in the wind by the enemy defensive guns or terminated by the hostile battlefield in which they drop, still never in the history of the Unturned Page a single warrior reneged his vow to his legion and his primarch.

During the Heresy the Unturned Page has fought in the Shadow Crusade, battering themselves against the mighty bastions of the worlds held by the Ultramarines. Following the Scouring the Chapter of the Unturned Page fled to the Empire of the Eye and since that day it was reformed seventeen more times, the Dark Council always eager to vouch for this clique of elite planet raiders and experienced drop troops.

The nature of the Unturned Page is callous and methodical. Every warrior is trained in several aspects of legion warfare, he is expected to fill in for the losses sustained in the planetary drop assault and survive on scant resources for the duration of the campaign. This focus on Planetstrike missions has molded the astartes of the Unturned Page into a spirited group of warriors with a survivalist streak and of dour character. Not prone to words or even cognizant of their role in the Word, each astartes of the Host is a warrior who expects nothing other than a brief life filled with surmounting challenges.

Known by the rest of their brotherhood as the "Corpse Eaters" since usually the warriors tend to feed on the remains of their cultist cohorts if the campaign proves to be a protracted one, the astartes of the Unturned Page are a breed apart but deep down they are some of the most fervent believers in the Word. After all, one needs to be either mad or disregard his life in order to actively pursue what is effectively the most dangerous method of astartes warfare, planetary drops.

This specialization forged the Unturned Page into a chapter which favors shock warfare, which relies heavily on infantry and which is often considered one of the many terror weapons employed by the Dark Council to either claim the dominion over enemy worlds or to sanction rogue chapters and hosts. It is the expendable nature of the warriors which has let to a particular interpretation of the Word which is very puritanical in its nature.

A warrior of the Unturned Page is quickly recognizable. Clad in unadorned battle plate, rugged in appearance and void of the devotional symbols so often displayed by the warriors of the Word Bearer, the astartes of the Unturned Page are indeed singular. Every drop assault is preceded by elaborate ceremonies which last for days on end and a ritual called "Walk to the Wall" is sacrosanct. In this ritual the warriors place their oaths of moments, seals of purity and devotion to the Octet as well as the vows to their legion on the "Wall", a towering adamantium wall aboard their cruiser. Here the helots enclose the papers in liquid gold to enshrine them for eternity. This ritual is completed before the drop takes place so even those warriors who died blasted in the sky during their descend are remembered.

By the time the Warmaster called for the 13th Black Crusade, the Chapter of the Unturned Page was ordered to participate in the war effort and to their name many atrocities are attributed. Consisting of around three hundred warriors of various gene lines, reconditioned legion traitors or captured enemy astartes, the Unturned Page is indeed a diverse group of astartes, but their vocation is the same as it has been for the past ten thousand years. To them falls the duty to crack open an enemy planet, to seize it for the Word Bearers legion at all costs and to prevail even when the odds are stacked against them, or perish for the Word.

Ruthless as this method of warfare might be the warriors of the Unturned Page know that it has perks too. They have earned the right to be reinforced by fresh warriors from blessed Sicarus and they know that after a planetary drop there will be many openings in the chapter's command. Rare are the Aspiring Champions that have lived for long in the Unturned Page, but those rare few who survived thousands of years and thousands of drop assaults are surely one of the most frighteningly lethal warriors of the Word Bearers.

Dark Apostle: Toren Mar "The Weeping"

Coryphaus: For Geran "Master of Cohorts"

The corridor echoed with the dull thump of ceramite on marble as he strode in to the main sanctuary. The chains lashing the thick grimoire to his waist clanked with each step. Dust hung heavy in the air, dislodged by the destruction the planetary assault had caused. His passage kicked up a cloud of particles that settled on his crimson warplate.

Once the sanctuary had been immaculate. Once this chamber had stood as a glorious shrine to the magnificence of the Emperor. The famed stained glass windows were shattered now. The gold and marble statuary was smashed and marred. Shards of colored glass and plasteel still marked where the windows had displayed images from the great crusade. Millions had journeyed here each year to see the scenes of glory. Fools.

Huddled by the High Altar was the prelate of the city. Ash soiled the purity of his regalia just as scrapes and gashes scarred his solemn features.

"You had no right!" Some fight still burned within the prelate and his words gave life to the outrage he felt at the city's desecration. His will was unbowed even though his body was broken. Glorious. The prelate finally focused on the intruder. One eye swollen shut, one blue eye staring in horror at the Dark Apostle standing before him.

"What care I if a hundred of these false temples burn. A thousand combined would still pale in comparison to the Perfect City."

"They will come. We will be avenged..." the priests voice trailed to a whisper as looked out at the ruined cityscape. Plumes of smoke and flame dotted the city like pox marks on a dying victim. The Chapter of the Sundered Veil had been thorough in their attack. Meriden Prime had been a city full of life not two hours ago. Now the citizens fed the ritual pyres that had been carefully placed about the city. It would not be be long before the Neverborn manifested.

"Let them come. Let them come and see this message. Your Imperium may have forgotten the wrongs done to us....but we have not. I was there. I was forced to kneel after Monarchia burned. When his lap dogs marred its memory. You hide behind your rhetoric and corrupted view of history. We will provide illumination. We will show you the true path. And when all is done and we stand once more on Terra...we will have vindication. And you, you will be one of the heralds of our coming."

The hint of an ominous smile, more cruel than anything, crossed the Dark Apostles face as he watched the prelate began to crawl away. Eight steps were all it took to close the distance between the two. The bruised priest wailed and began to shake as damnation reached for him.

The journey to select a primary 40k army has been a long one and I've bounced between loyalist and heretic quite a few times.  Time and again the Word Bearers always bubbled to the top of the list only to be pushed aside.  No more.  In the end it was the 30K story that really helped cement my decision and thus the idea of the Sundered Veil chapter was born.  I don't play very much these days so the hook for me is really more on the narrative, modeling and painting options.

My part of the long war will be tracked in my Dreams of Heresy thread.  Let the fun and games begin anew!

Anyone looking forward to the release of this awesome corrupted Word bearer contemptor?

The marines and the terminators. They're useful for any conversion and can be used to build any decent CSM unit out of the codex, while the possessed are more limited both in terms of kitbashing and in terms of gaming.

Good points plus i dont think the possessed would fit with how i tend to run my army couple squads of cultists rhino mounted csm unit and either a 2nd rhino mounted csm unit or 5 chosen in a rhino

You could probably make better looking possessed using the CSM box with a little bit of kitbashing/greenstuffing.

So is the Word Bearers Omnibus a good read?

YES! You'll go through it like a hot knife through butter. Guaranteed satisfaction and great for your understanding of the XVII legion.

It has certainly shaped many opinions on how a word bearers warband looks and feels. Enjoyable read with a consistent style, some neat interpretations on the mechanics of how the host work together and against each other.

Ok thanks I'll pick it up, probably won't get round to reading it until I finish the Heresy books I currently have (All of them). Currently on Fulgrim and it's a drag at the moment, I just want to read more about Erebus being a royal :whistling:

If you are finding the heresy hard going in one hit breaking it up with the word bearers stories might help?

Well I just need to get past my least favorite of the Legions. Deathguard (my least favorite) and Emperors Children (second least favorite) back to back is just frustrating, luckily only 4 pages to go.

Also going to break it up by focusing on making my Sorcerer for the event thingymajig, I'm all for shiny Sig badges. :cool.:

Brother Tikhunt

So what are my fellow Sons of Lorgar looking forward to doing with their Hosts in the near future?

I personally am looking forward to getting a Word Bearer Contemptor, Word Bearer Dreadnought and 3 Hellbrutes to try out the different formations. Am definitely going to be adding a Possessed Contemptor at some point after its release.

Also Gal Vorbak.
