Thank you so much for the comments and the likes, I thought this thread was never going to have attention again. smile.png

Which areas would you darken, helterskelter? If you mean the white, I did the same I did on my Vior'la tau; Nuln Oil only in recesses, which is why there's no dark line between the two layers of his breastplate but there is between his knee pad and shin guard.

Incidentally, the white was done with Army Painter matt white, not even diluted at that haha. Though it was on a white primer.

Oh, yeah, that.

I don't remember whether the specifics were along the lines of 'the boots are too close to the base for me to have enough control on my brush' or 'forget this, this is the tenth night I can't sleep and dawn is breaking and I'm sick of painting all night to kill time,' but I recall it being a deliberate decision. I'll try to correct it once my circadian cycle deigns correcting itself. Because I'm really not in the mood to hold a brush without stabbing something with it right now.

As for blood splatters, I prefer my models without, or only on the most obvious areas (like severed limbs/heads and the blades that severed them), such as on my War Hounds praetor and delegatus.

Yeah, I probably picked the wrong legion if I'm so fussy about blood. tongue.png

Glad to see the much overlooked Warhounds getting some love keep up the good work they look awesome

Thank you.

your undercoat looks grainy. Sanding helps after basecoat toothbrush aswell. Terms look good.

Thank you. I'm not very lucky with undercoats, especially with the winter's cold.

I'm not very happy with this model's white, but he looked even worse with Nuln Oil lining.

I think white models really need the line work to pop - have you considered thinned down drakenhof (for a cold look) or agrax (for a warmer look) washes instead of the black? I use badab black myself, but some think a black shade on a white model is too strong a contrast.

GW has put up some really nice tutorials on painting white scars and such.

Try thinning nuln or agrax. Applying it "neat" does look awful, but heavily diluted you retain the white but gain refess shading.

I used a 50:50 mix of nuln and drakenhof on my Terminators, which you can view using my sig links.

I'm not used to so many replies. Thanks everyone.

Looks strong!

Maybe do a full wash in Agrax to get all those recesses then go over in some white!

Slap a few blood/ dirt splatters too and he'll look battle-worn in no time biggrin.png

Thanks. I want minimal blood splatters (yeah I know, wrong Legion for that) and no weathering on my models, and I usually use only Nuln Oil for my Warhammer 3/40,000 models.

Those severed heads are delightful!

Thanks. They come from the skaven stormvermins I believe.

World Eaters have always struck me as oddly classy when they're not covered in blood and battle damage like they are all roaming around in white tuxedos

World Eaters have the best color scheme of all Legions, it'd be a shame to cover it with uncouth blood and dirt.

Thanks for the tips.

I tried nuln oil once, just once...

It worked well on my Vior'la fire warriors, but they have more recesses to put Nuln Oil in.

I never thought of thinning my shades but I did so and it worked much better.

Check the XX plog in my signature. I have a white marine shaded with black wash. It looks ok. The key is to paint it into the recesses, don't actually wash it.

Thanks for the tips.

Oil washes work best. You can go in after and tidy up too but generally varnish first and they flow really nicely

I like acrylics better but thanks for the tip.

So like I said I've followed The God-Potato of Mankind's advice and I feel the model looks much better. There's been no sun today though so I couldn't take new pictures, I'll try to take some as soon as the weather allows it.
