Looks good. It's a bit different but blends well with your normal style.

My little Helfrost Vindicator got shelved for a bit. My idea for exhaust didn't work out as the bits were too short. I found an RC shop in the area and they may have plasticard and tubing as they carry aircraft kits. Need time to get in there though, they close when i get off work. It's hard to find materials around here.

Guess I should prime and paint the Razorback and the Kill Team that goes with it while waiting on bits and stock.

Liking the new design.  Are you going to shade and highlight it like the wolf head on the side?  Whatever you did there, it really adds a lot of interest to the gold color.

PS.  This is really adding fuel to my desire for a land raider + terminators/blood claws!  Feel like it'll just be handing the game to my Eldar friend with all his D-weapon spam, though.

Thank guys, yep much happier with the new design... I am glad of everyone's feedback. This could easily have needed up as something I lost heart with and got dumped never to see the light of day again.

Ambrosius, I am glad that I am helping you get your mojo on for a terminator/ Land Raider combo. Go shield bros with Arjac. I heard it is a devastating unit. And yes the designs will get the same treatment as the wolf designs on the side panels, should look pretty good when all is done.

Vyk. Hope the exhausts work out, I am dying to see what you do with the Vindicator.

Hi Furstyferret Thank you!! Yeah it is a lot easier, although with intricate designs a lot can get lost when you shrink the designs down, so it is a balancing act as to how much to add without getting messy and still having a good visual impact. The plus side is I now have a cool collection of hand painted shield designs kicking around which are unique to my army. Also once I have a design down, I can duplicate it as much as needed across the army. For example. Wolf Guard will have individual shields, but all use the same colours to tie them together, whereas the assault and breacher teams will all have the same shield design, barring the sergeant. They might have the odd spot of individualism such as runes but the design will stay the same.

Plus my eyes aren't what they used to be for painting at that scale. Terminator and breacher shields are 1p coins, shields on Herja are 2p coins.

Wolf at the door describes the 13th Company Wolves as removing all pelts totems and affectations of civility behind and then blackening their ceramite with soot to hide any shiny areas, before entering battle.

Well things have ground to a halt. The schools are off till Tuesday, so looking after the wee man.

Reinforcements are inbound though

Trying to work out what I should make from the boxed set, 2 10 man tacticals and a veteran squad, 2 15 man tacticals, or any other combination.. Ideas please?

So what to work on when Herja is finished off??

Well I asked and you answered, so This is going to be the Spartan project running concurrently with the Achilles

Got a different knot-work idea for the behemoth.

Gold knotwork commences on the Achilles, while the tracks are getting don on the Spartan.

Looking good Dantay. The left wolf needs a new muzzle, it's more round than triangular like the other head.

Good to see your with us for a bit again. Been waiting for your return to ask about your hybrid marine/dwarf arms. I've tried it on 2 models and 1 came out alright. How are you splicing them together?

Bladewolf, you should totally get one.. A great way to get your warders/ breachers around (breachers can get it as a dedicated transport I think) And with it rocking your black scheme it will look pretty dandy.

Capt Sabby. The Tartaros are actually really nice models to work with, much better in real life. I brought them and Angron with me incase I get really bored, however, me & painting gold/brass, Angron could push me beyond the edge of sanity :D

As I can't have storm shields, I have armed them all with storm bolters and I will still eive them shields as a decoration/ combat shield, so all is good there. I am debating on getting rid of the yellow on the fist and replacing it with black or dark red

Vykryl, Yes, it was bugging me, looked more like a buffalo than a wolf. I am glad to be back and I posted in your thread about the arms.. I am gonna have to do more of them now too :) I feel a bits order coming on..

How does it look now?

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151216_222202.jpg

Silly light glare.

Anyways got the knotwork tidied up.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151216_222254.jpg

Quick ideas have been, some knotwork in front of the heavy bolters, maybe a stylized hammer like Mjolnir, around the edges of the Spartan all the way round a thin knotwork like a frame, a bit decorative. A bit like:

celtic patterns 2 prev

The one at the bottom or the right most designs...

For the top in front of the heavy bolters something along the lines of this

 or

or

And while the tribal and knotwork has met with some success, I was thinking of taking it back a bit to a norse/saxon flavor to shake it up but still tie it together
So something along these lines for the flanks.

What do you think? Too much?

Or tie it back to the Fire Raptor and do something along these lines.

Okay so did some doodling on Herja and gave her this:

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151219_124409.jpg

She is now officially named :)

Should I tint the runes blue, or just leave silver as-is?

I also started a little dry-brushing of the armour, because the mix I made was a bit dark, even though it matched up well to the Mech standard grey. I used a new pot and even not drybrushed it was a good bit lighter, not sure if my mix was off or the colour changed slightly.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151219_124423.jpg

Still looks okay though I think. I am about to make a very dilute wash with Abaddon black (nuln oil ran out) to go over the recesses and then give it another thinned coat of grey and see if it helps make it look a bit better.

I have also commenced work on the Spartan. Drybrushed the tracks and put the black wash over recesses etc, so I can do the armour before the knot work. Want all but knot work done for Christmas Day, so I can spend one straight day blitzing it.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151219_124444.jpg

The other rason is because I recently got myself Horus and Angron... I use a lot of gold on the knotwork and it gets wasted, so if it happens while doing the Spartan I plan to work on Angron's armour at the same time.

Anyway let me know your thoughts..

I am procrastinating!!

Staring at the wall of grey which is the Spartan and Achilles, I am trying to summon up the fervour to highlight all the grey.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151222_091221.jpg

I did drybrush to get a sense of where the light and shadow should go, but blending highlights is causing me to pause a bit. I am finding excuses to do other bits instead.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151222_091232.jpg

The hatch is not crooked, I just got a bit overzealous and trimmed off a bit too much on one side when cleaning the kit up

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151222_091245.jpg

I am quite liking the look of the black guns, but worried the tank will start to look dull and monotone, should I stick with the black, or do a dark red like the assault bolt pistols? Or should I put a shield on them which will alleviate the problem?

LAst thing. Need to choose a Valkyries name... Any thoughts?

I'll think on about the lascannons... Tonight no phone call to the missus, so peace and no distractions. I'll try to get all the grey done in one sitting :)

As for names:

Name is in Gold, description in blue and name meaning in Red

Thrudshe may or may not have been a Valkyrie, but there was a Valkyrie with the name Thrud. Thrud was the daughter of Thor and Sif. She is the half sister to Magni and Modi Strength or Power

I scored through the names already in use for other vehicles. I was thinking Kara, Sigrun, Skalmoid, Herfjotur or Geiravor. I had also considered Thrud or Trima.

Hrist Shake, Quake, The Quaking one

For me - it's going to make a lot of rumble and make the enemies of the Allfather quake in their boots!

Definitely more fitting for a Typon... in that case,

Sveid Vibration or Noise

I quite like both... Someone has also suggested Geironul, which is charging forth with a spear. Their reason being that the Spartan would be the spear tip of any assault and would be the driving force of the van guard.

So lets start a poll, which will end on boxing day evening UK time.

Most votes decides the name:

Hlökk Noise, Battle

Sveid Vibration or Noise

Geirönul The one charging forth with the spear

Cast away! PS It will be open on the AoD & WIP forum too

3 votes for Geironul

1 vote for Hlokk

1 vote for Sveid

GOt some of the wall of grey done, overall not too bad. Sort of lost my way a bit and over diluted the paints. 10 layers of grey.... I nver notced quite how crooked the chassis was until I took these pictures.

Back to resin straightening school for me :D
