No disasters yet, but his is where I am at with the Atropos:

Trying to work out how to pose the arms.

Traditionally it is CCW on the right arm and gun to the left, but not sure if I should stick with this format.

Apologies for the dodgy pictures

Last one looks a little knock kneed, but I am hoping that with a bit of torso swing and arm movement, he will look a lot less static.

Of the other 2, 1 will be rocking the classic Captain Morgan pose, the other will be leaning a bit forward ready to crush something.. He is my "Hulk"

A bit of hairdryer to the hoses and it s on the bench to get a coat of matte varnish, then primer

In case you are wondering, even though I have scrubbed the resin, sometimes it does not remove all the release agent.

By sealing the model, you give the primer a much better chance of sticking to the model and giving your other coats a good foundation to build from.

This is especially true if you use cheaper primers. I have been told it is not required with GW primers as it has a chemical in it which will dissolve or allow the primer to adhere to the release agent

Went hillwalking with the wee boy up Bennachie.

Just a 500 metre ascent, but loads of fun

Not 100% successful

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking

Much clearer now. Apparently I'm just blind ;) Was trying to see a sword that isn't there. I like the sword still down from a killing blow and gun pointed, calling out next victim poise.

Looks like a nice place for a walk. All we see around my home are aabandoned rail trestles and logging gear. Is kind of cool to find a relic from 1800s era operations on occasion.

Hahaha.. No worries Vykryl.

Yeah, I am angling that way too, plus it fits in with the other Knights, as they have ranged weapons on the left arm too.

It is lovely, we actually went up there a month ago, but without Ben.

He enjoyed the climb and he was super tired afterwards. A coupe of times we said that we could go back, but he was determined to get to the top.

Only funny part was that as we got near the top we got showered in dust and stuff then there was some clapping. We thought it was od, but realised that the group were scattering someone's ashes.

The wife didn't realise or she would have freaked out. Still haven't told her.

There is also the Caterthuns, and other great walks

I am going to use the pictures again in the future, hopefully with a wee story involving the Wolves.

Walking around your home area must be cool with all the abandoned stuff. You should get a metal detector and go treasure hunting!!

Old steam donkeys and spools of rusty cable aren't worth much and are rather heavy to lug home ;)

Edit: one summer while I was still in the CCC, a crew kicked up a load of old dynamite buried in the duff. Their supervisor nearly had a nervous breakdown.

Edited by Vykryl

Lol, but there could be some pocket money in selling the scrap metal, no? Besides you might find some cool stuff, old tools buttons, engine plates and the like which could be worth some decent money, or look nice in a museum?

Dynamite.... Yeah could imagine the gaffer having a meltdown over that one

I think it got forgotten about because it is not 40K compatible & ETL was running

I am looking forward to painting it.

However airbrush issues just now, mine is stripped down in a wee tub until I get home. Tried thinning some regular GW paints and mixing it with air paints. Was not a success. The heavier standard paint sunk & separated.

After a bit of cleaning, the airbrush was not working right... Only air coming out or gouts of paint. The only time paint would spray was as I stopped spraying and just a tiny puff.

Took it to bits and gave it a quick clean, but will give it a good going over when I get home.

I actually thought you were referring to the spare knight pilot.

Am debating putting him in the Acheron or Castigator as they are pilotless just now, although I have some sentinel driver bits I could use... Either that or make a more mech looking knight pilot?

Thoughts?

For the airbrush. I've learned over the last 2 weeks with painting the knight that sometimes mine creates a vacuum and will not spray constant paint. What I end up having to do is loosen the main nozzle tip (not just the very end piece) just a smidgen and it will allow my paint to flow through just fine.

Edit: for the gdubs paint mixed with air paints have you tried air brush thinner with the gw paint prior to mixing with the air paints? It should make it lighter prior to mixing and may not separate and sink as much.

A mech pilot or.. if you have ever watched evangelion.."dummy plug" with cables intergrated into the control systems would be pretty sweet

Edited by lovesmuffins

So a giant brain with cables?

Hmmmm...... Will think on it. was more leaning towards a hooded head, scion torso ad robed legs, A bit like a warrior priest, but the idea is creepy enough to have merit.

Kind of? Like a mechanical brain though... as if the imperial knight became sentient. But now you have me thinking krang from tmnt. Which is also pretty creepy... lol Edited by lovesmuffins

Thanks guys, latest wee project.

In 2 minds as to whether I should keep them and use them as Custodes or to sell them off and buy more Wolves stuff

They are close to 60% done

Like Lazarus this thread rises from the dead!!

Apologies for being away for so long. Working on other projects and also something for the Colours Of War!!

So a few folks have asked about the grey.

It is very very easy to do.

I use only GW paints so far as they have been the only ones I have managed to get offshore so far"!!

My models start primed black

And that is the armour pretty much done!!

Hope you like :)

Christ almighty brother, I was wondering where you went. That chap looks ace, the only thing that feels out of place is the metal skulls across the chest. Everything else is gold, so it just looks unfinished. Maybe do the framing gold to help tie it in to the same thing on the shoulders? Edited by codyrstuart

Lol,

I am like a sneaky Wolf Priest, you may not always see me, but I am about, the only problem is that I am trying to keep my banner bearer for Colours of war a secret, now that he is re or less finished.

Plus I was working on my Grey Knight army that I am planning to sell off.

Nice to be able to bring something back to the SW forums though...

As for the chesticle thing. The metal was a rough idea, but it is far from done. I will keep the skulls in a steel/silver colour but the infill part will be a dark almost leathery brown like a strap, the outer edges gold.

I have so far on the gold areas I have only laid down the first coat, it still needs washes and highlights. You'll also notice a very rough area on his right leg. That is needing a side-arm attached as the last one snapped off.

I also need to decide if I want to keep Jorgmundr as a ginger or not, so far the hair is just Averland Sunset with a Reikland Flesh shade wash/

Lastly I want to do a leather cloak, but not sure if using charadon granite as the base was a good idea. Also might do some freehand on it.

got a technique in mind that I m keen to try out, but need to get to the PVA glue first. If it works it could be a game changer for me ;)

What are your thoughts? (everyone not just cody)

Nice work as always, Dante. Very impressive collection so far. I like your kids swift claw, at least he likes the Wolves. My fella has given up and left me with a heap of Nids to finish off. With regards to the Grey Knights, the hoarder in me says never sell anything.
He's getting there man. I think the cloak could use a little lightening up, but I like the brown over red. As for the Swords, I think the blue like you did on your assault squad's axes would give it a nice pop of color.

Mactire: Sorry to hear your boy left you with a xenos infestation problem, however on the bright side. You an do some cool Lone Wolves style basing and dioramas etc.

Ever thought abut pulling him back in with kill-team, some quick and fun games t rekindle the interest??

Nobody has bitten for the Knights, so I may end up hanging on to them. Shame as it was part of my Stormbird fund :sad.:

Cody: The cloak will get lightened up, but it is going to be the last thing I do. I have a theory on cheating freehand for cloaks and flappy things, but I want to see if I can make the theory work

As for the swords.... You read my mind, I debated a blue metallic and a red metallic, like fire and ice, but in the end stuck with the blue.

http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/untitled_1.png

How's that? Not sure if the blue is too dark or I should put a little lightning through it.

Thoughts??
