LutherMax - those are typically gorgeous additions to your army. Shame to see the Sicaran  'splode on its excursion to Warhammer World.

Jump Packs, thunder hammers and other stuff arrived today from spellcrow. Ordered the first time.

My order first got lost in the warp and as i cleared things up they where very friendly.

I´m excited if the jump packs fit my Sangguard which came without jp.

SUPER interested to see how Spellcrow parts look on the kits! Get some pics up, I find that the painting on their site makes everything they have look horrifically garish and awful but I assume this can't be the case!

I agree their painting is pretty meh. However the bits itself are really nice. Got 20 heads, 21 Guiter Blaster and 20 Shoulderpads myself recently. :tongue.:

How good are the heads? Was looking at the ones with long hair earlier ... or maybe I'm getting 3rd party builders mixed up

Played against an Eldar Corsair list and almost won. End of turn 6 I was ahead but unfortunately we rolled to keep playing and he was able to contest all of my objectives with jet bikes and his warlord was able to come back (from ongoing reserves due to perils), so I ended up losing by 2 vp. Still felt like a victory though cuz that was a hard list and my dice were crap.

I ran Lost Brotherhood, 10co, and OIF. As much as I typically get frustrated playing Eldar this was a fun game.

Yeah well the Eldar Corsairs list, like regular Eldar, do everything well (better than us), but it has one weakness - they break fairly easily. So if you keep forcing leadership checks you can get real lucky. Two of his units fled off the board and one off of an objective (though they came back on final turn to contest it).

I know termies in general are not nearly good enough for the cost... but I've been running my OIF as 2 Shooty and 1 assaulty for a bit now. Mostly because, while assault out of DS is amazing, those assaulty units were stomping around the rest of the game looking for something slow enough to assault. Nothing is that slow in a Corsairs list hah.

The double shooting termies was awesome and the cause of the 2 units that fled off the table. He used a Corsair psychic power that put my units back into Ongoing reserves, got my DC dread before he could assault and my assault termies after they ate a unit, neither were a factor in the game afterward.

The two shooty termie units buckled down on objectives and held out. I successfully failed every Feel-no-Pain and the DC didn't really last long. Still if the game ended turn 6 I would've won. His psyker/warlord was placed in ongoing reserves (due to perils) but was able to come back turn 7 and contest too.

My sniper scouts with camo cloak and formation stealth in terrain and on objective, didn't kill much but he spent a lot of shooting trying to kill them and never did. Anyway fun game.

I find the jumppack a bit smaller than the packs from the sanguard also missing wings on them. Well it will do it at first. http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag185/Slaughter3000/IMG_20170117_205421_zpse3vcdhre.jpg

1st guys pretty much done ... C&C welcome. Paints weren't thinned enough :/http://i.imgur.com/NOlKFky.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/v3ZiTzo.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/jqJGw0D.jpg

Yeah the paint definitely could've been thinned more. You nailed the eyes though. I noticed he is wearing the wrong shoulder pad? :)  There are some good Lamenters painters in this subforum. I did an Imperial Fist for my local store and I know yellow isn't easy!

Yellow is tough to shade, so I did the basecoats then glossed the heck out of it. Then washed with red, and again with brown more carefully. Then Matte finished it and painted the rest of the model.

Good thing about yellow is it's super easy to weather/chip, here is mine:

Those look pretty amazing. Would agrax make them look better? Or a different wash?

Sounds like an interesting game. But there's not a lot you can do with that kind of rolling, really.

Well there are definitely some other folks here who would be better to ask, but I think Agrax would work, or even Reikland Fleshade for its redness. The reason I glossed first was so the wash would slide easily into carcasses and leave my nice flat yellow areas basically unharmed. Then of course you'll need to Matte varnish it though if you go that route.

Not gonna lie though, I'm quite disheartened, I didn't expect my first guys to be amazing but still ...

It's pretty annoying because it makes my mind drift to other ideas ... a successor chapter entrusted with the duty of finding the remaining Lamenters ... To be honest even if I do get the right yellow and the techniques down to a T I do feel like down the line I will make my own successor chapter.

I was thinking of doing 2 other test models tonight.

1. zandri dust, agrax, casandora yellow all over & lamenters glaze.

2. primed averland, based yriel & highlights in flash gitz or dorn.

The models above were based averland, drybrushed Yriel & Flash gitz with casandora yellow wash.

Also, make sure you let each colour / coat of paint dry completely before moving on to the next. It looks like the colours are 'bleeding' in to each other in some places (e.g. where the yellow and black meet on the shoulder pads).
