Plog = picture blog, like a WIP thread.

Huh. Always thought it stood for painting log (where as a blog is a written log). Don't let it be said that you never learn anything in the B&C!

And I always thought it was short for project log!

Boss as always, Luther!

Besides the brilliant contrast of the BA red vs urban blue/grey cloaks, my favorite detail is the muddy bottom of the camo cloaks. Definitely looks like it got dragged through the mud.

Thanks Indy! Yeah I'm quite pleased with the cloaks. I was going to use weathering powder to make them more dusty looking, but in the end a quick drybrush of brown worked to make them look muddy instead.

On the subject of Scouts, I'm planning to do a CC squad next, but does any one know of a kit that has smaller knives than the combat blades that come with Scouts? They look more like swords!

Gods I'm so jealous of your skill LutherMax, those scouts look so damned good ugh!

Anvil Industry has the Regiments Weapon Accessory pack, which has lots of 'scout' looking bits and something that might work. You get 2 in a set and they're pretty cheap.

Looks like I have a surprise 2000 point game tomorrow, which means I'll finally be able to try out the AOIF! I originally was going to to go for the Angel's Blade with an archangel demi but I just don't feel like I have enough transports to make that work, so I'm doing a Lost Brotherhood instead, possibly with a BSF or CAD added on. There's still so many units or formations I haven't tried yet that I think I've made 4 different lists so far and none can cram everything in, haha. I'm trying to decide if I should add a Storm Raven to be a nuisance, or if I should get Dante into here somehow (really the only reason I am considering the CAD).

Dante works so well with Golden Host it's 'almost' an auto include when you take him. Though Emperor knows the re-roll reserves for your Raven is priceless. Can't wait to hear how your AOIF works for you. I've run it a few times with mixed success, in fairness the only time they underperformed was when they were fighting the new death guard and the beggars get t5 and a fnp, meaning fnp against thunder hammers :(

Reeeally interested in this method, anyone have any experience with it? Any tips?

I will tell you that you really want to shake the model to get excess off. I don't know that I have any pictures of using it though.

This game went a lot better for me!  It was originally going to be against SM but he changed his mind and brought Astra Militarum instead.  I opted for the Storm Raven over Dante so I didn't have to fuss with bringing a BSF and the game was over before it came on, so I still haven't gotten to use it, haha.

I brought a LBSF with a second DC chap as my command, one dread in a pod.  Then I had three units of 5 TH/SS terminators in an AOIF, one meltassault squad in a rhino and the SR as  dedicated trans for one DC squad (though they started on the board with JP).  One DCC had guardian blade, the other had the 2+ armor.  He won first turn, and I really hoped to seize, but failed, leaving all my DC more exposed than I'd have liked.  Vanguard deployment, 3 obj a turn mission, lots of ruins on the wings with a rather open killing field in the center.

T1 he almost ended the game with pie plates everywhere.  My rhino lost 2 HP from glances, one squad of DC was down to one guy and another had just the DCC left, but one made all their 5+ cover saves.  It was brutal, and I thought I wasn't coming back from it.  I did manage to open up some chimeras and get locked in combat with the occupants, though, since he had to move up a little to get shots at my DC.  DCC with guardian blade just chopped a demolisher in half though, and was left standing completely open in the center of the board.  Meltassault squad took out his Pask (warlord).  DC dread dropped in directly on an objective and ran towards a demolisher, melta wrecked the demo so he was sitting pretty.

T2 his shooting was uneventful since most of my DC was locked up.  He tried to tank shock the assault squad but I stopped him with a melta bomb.  His demos took out the assault squad but scattered onto himself a little and dinged up his battered tanks.  Rhino took a ram like a champ, though.  Terminators all came one and 2/3 successfully charged and wrecked vehicles, DC dread wrecked another and charged the vets inside it, DC finished off a squad of vets in his turn and finished off another demolisher and a chimera.  DCC with guardian blade dodged everything thrown at him, even tanking two pie plates on invulnerables.  The AOIF and remaining DC tore his spine out, leaving him with a bunch of wrecked or almost wrecked chimeras, no demolishers, and I think 3 more squads of vets, maybe more than that.

T3 he killed a couple terminators with weight of fire, and then gave up at the start of my turn.  I was way ahead on points (almost purely by luck) and everything I had was in easy charge range and I still had the empty SR to bring on.  He didn't have much left that was a threat to anything I had without some luck.  He had originally wanted me to bring my new knight but was glad I didn't.  I would have liked to keep playing but I think he was probably right that my win was inevitable.  I really love the LBSF!  It makes everything I love about BA better and minimizes the things I don't.

I will say though, next time I play Guard, I need more bodies in my DC squads and I need to be more conservative with them.  I could have had a lot more still alive if I had held back and stuck to cover and been okay with not getting a first turn charge.  But even knowing that I probably won't, haha.  It's just too much fun tearing into their front lines!

Also, even disordered charge out of deep strike is pretty good.  Yeah, I'd like it if it wasn't, but I will definitely be using the AOIF again.  I might try to squeeze in more teleport homers though, as two of the three squads scattered a lot (just happened to scatter towards each others targets, meaning the same stuff still got wrecked).

Mostly done with this guy... great model but so much dang bling. What do you guys think about the Blood Drop, probably would be better purple or blue right?

Fine as it is, there's not a ton of red on the model as a whole so it helps emphasise who he belongs to. Of course if the other blood drops in your army are purple or blue you should probably go with that just for uniformity.

I know it's really early, but has anyone else started putting things aside for the ETL?

I've got my bikes which will take priority but I'm still looking for something suitable for my second vow (other than my event kitbash of course).

I am positively spoilt for choice :biggrin.:

@ Tyriks, nice summary report, sounds like that DC Chap was tanking like a boss! Congrats on the win :smile.:
