Taking stock. Going to try and cut down on my pile of shame.

Initial thoughts: Build Primaris captain, 3 units of Intercessors, 2 unites of interceptors, 1 unit of aggressors, Repulsor, redemptor, chaplain and lieutenant.

Then it was all the space hulk minis, + 2 units of assault TDA, plus 3 razorback/Rhinos and a drop pod.

Third was fancy characters, Company Banner Bearer, 2 lieutenants, possibly Emperor's champion as a BA repurpose.

And I'll probably fall somewhere in the middle.

Here's a WIP of my current priest I decided to do on a whim. Only downside is he had flash on his helmet I missed. I believe his name will be Alucien, Alister, or Jalen He will also be equipped with a counts as chainsword (combat blade) and Storm Bolter.

Scorpius?

So I've been planning this entire time to include VAT taxes into my equation. Turns out, since I'm in the US, they shouldn't be charging me that tax. As such it looks like I'll be grabbing a bit more than that.

Thinking about the following:

Sicaran

Leviathan (Storm Cannon/Grav Flux)

Scorpius

Doredo (lascannon arms because it's cheaper)

MK4 command

Ryza lascannons

MK3 shoulders (for my prospero guys).

If I can sell one more thing, I may also drop in the siege drill or siege claw arm. Ideally I would want to include a xiphon but I won't have nearly enough for that.

I know people say the fire raptor is a better item but I've heard sooo many people talk about how much of a pain that kit is to assemble. Not that the other one's here are super easy but when a kit supposedly makes a grown person cry, that's a bit too harsh.

Jumping on the bandwagon, here is yet another Captain Smash taking shape. I have magnetised both arms so I can vary him but I think Thunder Hammer and Storm Bolter is likely to be standard loadout.

Another WIP to the Carmine Blades. I've been toying with the idea that the former Swords of Haldroth were many in their tribes, and thus I have decided to do a variety of skin pigments. Hope you folks enjoy, cheers!

This is half the same pieces I’m planning on using for mine... just holding off for the zeal event to see what the rules are before grabbing glue. :-)

Not much, hobbywise. Lorewise I did get back to reading "Devastation of Baal" finally and got stupidly excited when I discovered that there's actually a Flesh Eaters character named, even if he's barely in the book and doesn't survive it's still something! *laughs*

Something I want to try is bring the DCD and Forlorn Fury him into my opponents deployment and then wreak havoc. 8"+D6"+8"+2+2D6" = Dead Tank +6" consolidation.

Sadly this isn't possible as they aren't Infantry :(

Oh I thought it was just death company key word. Oh well.

Yup. Imagine my initial disappointment when I realised DC in tanks couldn't do it :(

Thinking about it though, you could probably start in a tank/Stormraven and disembark to get an extra 3" movement...

So today I got run over by the Death Guard. I helped them win.

Of note:

If you put Capt Smash and Mephiston together onto Morty to be sure and kill him without using so many command points because Mephy is such a beat stick...

Morty will interrupt and kill Mephiston DED dead before Mephy throws...

Ooops...

Don't do that folks, ruins a possible victory. *nod.

Yesterday my Librarian Dread was having a weird day.

Taking away 7 of his 8 wounds with two perils (playing a scenario with +1 to casts, denies and mortal wounds from perils) and losing his last wound when he was in the middle of basically everything that was still on the table at this point, explodes and the only thing it kills was Wulfen from my teampartner (everything else either had enough wounds to not die or managed their FnP rolls).

At least he killed a whole unit of Blightlords effordlessly the turn before with Wings of Blood and the Red Fury Stratagem. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bolter Inceptors and Intercessors did a good job as always. I also realised how scary Gaunts are. They surrounded my partners TWC with their huge movement range and he then activated a Stratagem that makes each model in a unit within 1" of an enemy deal 1 Mortal wound on a 6. That was half of the TWC unit gone before he even rolled to hit ... with his Gaunts lol

Had a very similar experience with my Libby dread against Eldar, he failed Wings so he couldn't charge this flyer, then perils, then also exploded putting a wound on Captain smash and killing a bunch of my infantry.

Usually he's decent though haha.

A little picture of my painted infantry models and dreadnoughts now that I have enough worth sharing :)

Looks good! Nice work and nice collection.

I’m in the process of getting rid of all my old tactical marine models that were released before the BA specific box. I’ll replace them with a couple of those boxes and some Intercessors. It’s all good because I haven’t painted them since I stripped them down last year. I’m looking forward to having less unpainted models in my possession for a while.

thanks i'm quite proud of the collection, i'm looking forward to playing multiple fully painted lists. got a bunch of vehicles that can just about pass for painted but I really enjoy using painted models (more than i thought I would).

I'm probably going to get the forgeworld transfer sprue for the leviathan dread tho as he seems quite bare, and i'm sure it will also make my vehicles better.

I've got 6 games and I am batting .500 with it (win 3 lose 3). My losses are from insane numbers of assault cannons (which eat CQC Scouts like popcorn) and going first, but failing to do any meaningful damage. That is almost worse than going second. Wins are from:

A. playing smart

B. playing aggressive

C. playing smartly aggressive

D. playing aggressively smart

E. lightning striking my opponent

  • Killshot is disgustingly good....but if you don't get Turn 1 you're probably not going to get to use it. Been in 3 Killshot shootouts....whoever goes first gets to use theirs and that's it.
  • Never underestimate the power of Hellfire Shells....both giving and receiving.
  • Standard of Sacrifice is worth its weight in gold. Where it really comes to shine is with units like Scouts...takes them from mild speedbumps into spiked speedtraps
  • The psychological value of a large unit of Sanguinary Guard kept in reserve does wonders

Back me up on this one: the extra Relics Strategem is used "Before the battle begins." The "Battle Begins" when the first player's first Movement phase begins, right?

...therefore, if you deploy a chacter with the Veritas Vitae onto the board....then at some point during your Deployment phase pop the 3x Relics Strategem, you get to roll to see if you get a CP back.... right/wrong?  I thought that was wrong, but a club officer who knows his BRB/FAQs said that is how you play it.

And in other news, despite every fibre of my body saying NO, I have been considering Intercessors. Not a fan of Primaris in any way shape or form, but can't deny 10W 2+ in cover 30" AP-1 TROOPS units is none too shabby at all.
