jaxom
Yes, I think I agree with your analysis of the highlighting style on the blue. To be fair though, he's such a busy model, that I don't blame you for trying to paint him like a regular 28mm technique-wise. I agree and because there's so much going on, the small areas of blue on the chest don't draw the eyes, but instead they work the triangle of Hand of Dominion, head, and Emperor's Sword. The Traitor
Guillimans is looking great, your crisp painting style fits him perfectly! You've even made the face look good!!! :P
Tzen
Ta Traitor. And I think now he is done (just about) he has worked out okay Jaxom. I still need to clean up the sword and that whole arm completely but I am dying a little bit! http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rbg35.jpg I have moaned a bit about this chap, but considering he's taken me just over two days so far he's turned out okay. I need to finish his base and then take a proper picture. Hopefully tomorrow!
Dantay VI
I absolutely love LOve LOVE that sword!!
Tzen
Thanks Dantay, glad you like! :D
RedFred
That looks hella fresh! That blue is intense, just what he needs to conflict with all that gold. Man I wish they allowed him to be flat footed so you didn't have to base him leaning on a rock like that.
Sagentus
The darker tonne of armor and sword colour have made this figure look great. The face is done perfectly too. Great work all round imo
Tzen
Ta chaps. The base is going to look a bit weird I reckon cos it will have to match the fairly light tone of the rest of my Ultramarines. Been ages since I painted a base like that! :D
Major_Gilbear
Very nice - I think the sword may be favourite part!
StraightSilver
I think he looks fantastic, the sword is awesome but the face is actually my favourite. Restores my faith in the model, really don't like the box art one.I also saw your Guilliman on my Facebook feed but it felt weird commenting on there for some reason with my real name, lol... :)
Zhul
Very nice looking. The blue is fantastic!
Tzen
He's done! http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rbgfin1.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rbgfin2.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rbgfin3.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rbgfin4.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rbgwbfin.jpg I am happy with this chap. He only took a little over three days from building to completion and I think he turned out okay. I phoned the base in a little. The marble head looks cool, but the rest was a rush job. It was 11:30pm, and I just wanted him done. I may return to the sword and the flames in the future, just to sort them out, but now, it's time for Cypher! Sagentus
I think he looks awesome all round... again better than how GW have painted him. I look forward to seeing Cypher :)

Sagentus
I know you said it took 3 days from start to finish, but how many hours work was that roughly?
Tzen
So, I'd say about 5 hours prep. Building and so on. I then spent about 30ish hours painting him. Once I have sat down to paint for the day, I have the luxury of being able to sit right through. I have a really good desk lamp and no other commitments! :D I need to get some decent photography lights next. I just got the new camera, now I need the lighting to go with it. Dorn Lysander
He looks awesome man, very inspiring, I can't wait to paint mine but I want to get a bit practice in on some regular Ultramarines first.
StraightSilver
That marble is phenomenal tbh. Really looks like stone. And he looks awesome. :)
brother tycho
if you set out to emulate the gw studio paint job, you've failed, rather i feel you've slightly exceeded it. fantastic work
deathspectersgt7
CYPHER !!!! Great job on ole Rob .
Tzen
Haha. Thanks man. I'm not sure it's better. But i will say that I prefer the face on my version the model than theirs. However I think that's because they have an early resin version of the model and it hasn't worked or something. Not a comment on the paint job per se. CYPHER !!!! Great job on ole Rob . All being well he is next! :D Although new plague marines do have me inspired to finish my Thousand Sons in time for them... :p

Tzen
I took some pics today on my phone. The quality isn't great, but the "awesome" is still there! :D http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/mp1.jpg http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/mp2.jpg Just building Cypher at the moment too... :D
Brother Callidan
I wonder what he thinks of how big his brothers got in the past 10,000 years. Great job on the G-Man
Corswain
Those are awesome pics. Thanks for sharing! Despite being on a phone they still look better than some of the photos GW produces. Out of curiosity, did you paint Guillimans helmet too, or just the bare head?
