Yes, I think I agree with your analysis of the highlighting style on the blue. To be fair though, he's such a busy model, that I don't blame you for trying to paint him like a regular 28mm technique-wise.

I agree and because there's so much going on, the small areas of blue on the chest don't draw the eyes, but instead they work the triangle of Hand of Dominion, head, and Emperor's Sword.

Ta Traitor. And I think now he is done (just about) he has worked out okay Jaxom.

I still need to clean up the sword and that whole arm completely but I am dying a little bit!

I have moaned a bit about this chap, but considering he's taken me just over two days so far he's turned out okay.

I need to finish his base and then take a proper picture. Hopefully tomorrow!

Ta chaps.

The base is going to look a bit weird I reckon cos it will have to match the fairly light tone of the rest of my Ultramarines. Been ages since I painted a base like that! :D

I think he looks fantastic, the sword is awesome but the face is actually my favourite. Restores my faith in the model, really don't like the box art one.

I also saw your Guilliman on my Facebook feed but it felt weird commenting on there for some reason with my real name, lol... :)

I am happy with this chap. He only took a little over three days from building to completion and I think he turned out okay. I phoned the base in a little. The marble head looks cool, but the rest was a rush job. It was 11:30pm, and I just wanted him done.

I may return to the sword and the flames in the future, just to sort them out, but now, it's time for Cypher!

So, I'd say about 5 hours prep. Building and so on. I then spent about 30ish hours painting him. Once I have sat down to paint for the day, I have the luxury of being able to sit right through. I have a really good desk lamp and no other commitments! :D

I need to get some decent photography lights next. I just got the new camera, now I need the lighting to go with it.

Haha. Thanks man. I'm not sure it's better. But i will say that I prefer the face on my version the model than theirs. However I think that's because they have an early resin version of the model and it hasn't worked or something. Not a comment on the paint job per se.

CYPHER !!!!  Great job on ole Rob .

All being well he is next! :D

Although new plague marines do have me inspired to finish my Thousand Sons in time for them... :p

I took some pics today on my phone. The quality isn't great, but the "awesome" is still there! :D
