OOOOOOOOOH I LOV ARMOUR MASH UPS AND KIT BASHES!!!!

Your green is wonderful

Peace, Grizzly :P Thanks man.

So many flames. Remember kids, fire is good, fire is your friends.

He looks great, man!

When in doubt, apply fire! Thanks for the appreciation brother.

Those are absolutely beautiful man. THOSE FLAMES DOH!!!!

Haha thank you very much!

I wouldn't have known he had a golden face plate if you hadn't written it. Even with photoshop's autocolor I couldn't see it. The issues of being in a sandstorm I guess. tongue.png

I like him.

Thanks KOTR, I see what you mean, maybe one day I'll get a better camera, or at least the weather will improve ;)

Amazing stuff man! Like many said before, the flames are just awesome! thumbsup.gif

Many thanks Leviathus, dead chuffed the flames are a hit with people!

He looks awesome dude! Loving the static menace.

Cheers brother, you have taste in marine poses! It's all about the calm with Salamanders.

In other news, will be ordering some lizardman bits after seeing a very cool sallies army at wh40k open day. The firedrakes are getting some trophies! (not all of these will be used, just the jaws haha)

Hi guys, so as promised, the flames tutorial, featuring my next devastator marine.

Step 1. The armour is painted as normal. In this case, as the bolter was painted separately, I have painted the right hand orange, as I have attempted to paint this and his lower arm with the flame pattern.

Step 2:

Using a fine brush, paint thin lines of Jokaero Orange from the tip of the flames to the base. Slowly build them up until you have a reasonable flame effect.

Step 3:

Highlight with Iyanden Darksun (ochre). Paint the inner portion of the flames with this colour. Finally, an edge highlight of Pallid Wych Flesh finishes the effect.

So quite a simple method - the key is making sure the flames are nice and flowing, and to ensure that you always start at the tip of the flame and work towards the base. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello all!

So here are my latest additions, rather slow week hobby-wise as had a few family/work commitments to attend to! But managed to build up some Devastators, meaning that I'm a paintjob away from a completed squad at last.

Also built another Firedrake with some of those nice Temple Guard bitz that finally arrived from the USA. Cameraphone quality I'm afraid but such is life!

Hopefully get these painted up before christmas (ho ho ho...)

Trying to think of some sort of backstory for this guy so he can be put onto the Vega III thread. The inspiration for the bone trophies on this terminator came from seeing a staff army at warhammer world when I visited for the WH40k open day. Shamelessly pinched - whoever did that army, thank you for the inspiration! :)

Thanks for looking!

Thank you for the kind comments guys! I wish I could show you the army I saw, was a thing of beauty.

Nice work, he looks a brighter shade of green then the others, or is that just the picture?

I know what you mean - I remember thinking the same thing! It's just the picture, I think it might be the background that's changing the green slightly. It's the same colour scheme as the others.

Nice ork nob you got there, Stoneheart. tongue.png

Haha, I don't know what you could possibly mean :P

That's funny tyranid you've painted there bro

I'll PM you brother, the horde is growing I assure you ;) The Norn queen is just having a Christmas break then she'll be back to the birthing chamber :P (They have a rather powerful union unfortunately)

Typically excellent paint job. The trophies aren't what you usually see on Salamanders, but it definitely works. Helps to make a relatively stock tactical Terminator look much meaner. A pose that has him in a combat stance helps.
