Is it too late to join?

If not, I, Gab, poor of time and lacking in painting skill, do solemnly pledge to complete an Imperial Fists Contemptor.

Starting off small, I have more I could pledge but the above pledge is going to be a stretch as it is.

I promised pictures, but I’ve been too busy working on my squad :(

Finished all my acrylic highlights. Seems like it took me forever, but here I am! Now I’m adding chips and scratches. Tomorrow is a holiday so I plan to power through the weathering, varnish them up, and then throw some pictures onto here. Past that it’ll be time for trasnfers, oil washes, and pigments (the fun part!). I doubt I’ll be able to finish by the end of the Month due to Thanksgiving, but I will give it my best effort! Everything is coming together really well right now.

Finished building the dread, hopefully get the basing and undercoat done today!

I'm not crazy about the IW contemptor model, but I gotta say, you made him look mean as hell. Looks great!

@Brother Vidius - That Contemptor is looking immense! I think I'm in the minority of having liked the IW Contemptor since it came out, so I'm really keen to see what you do with it.

@Thunor - I really like that alternate scheme, and the use of the blade is way better than the empty hand. Good stuff!

I've been crazy busy this month, which sucks. I've managed to built, undercoat and ink my Tac squad, which is good, but I still feel like I'm running out of November. Anyway. WIP shot for the week!

Ignore the guys at the back... They're... something else. biggrin.png

Also, I saw this in FW's video for the special edition of Conquest, and it totally made my day!

Pretty happy about that... They didn't get it totally right, but it's pretty close... msn-wink.gif

Snapped some quick n' dirty pictures. The guys are really coming along now, but are still very WIP. Just finished the chipping on the armor. Next step is varnish, decals, and the copper armor color, oils, cleanup, and finally pigments. Getting to the fun part!

Hey guys,

Sorry to have been quiet - been in Berlin for a while, but back now and hopefully ready for a little bit of painting and updating. I'll have an update ready at some point tomorrow.

Great to get back and see all this progress!

November – Week one and two

First up a quick apology for being slow in posting this update. Despite my absence, and March of the Legions kicking off, things have been ticking over nicely in the casual challenge. Initially the vows poured in for the loyalist cause, leaving Atia a lone but exceptionally defiant traitor. However, in drips and drabs the traitors have appeared, and have begun handing out a bit of a beating to the Emperors sons!

The Traitors - followers of Horus - the heretics, followers of the warp (7 members)

Atia (aka: The Loyalist’s Bane) – The XIVth legion astartes, Death Guard: Spartan and Dreadnought

Thunor’s Hammer – The Infernal Guard (alt heresy): 10 Promethians (Pyroclasts)

Slipstreams (October’s loyalist champion!) – The XXth legion astartes, Alpha Legion: Contemptor

Brother Vidus – The IVth legion astartes, Iron Warriors: 10 man support squad and contemptor

Gizur – The XVIth legion astartes, Word Bearers: 10 Despoilers and a Javelin Speeder

Bulbafist – The IVth legion astartes, Iron Warriors: 23 Breachers

Excessus – The XXth legion astartes, Alpha Legion: Sicaran

The Loyalists - beloved of the Emperor - the loyal sons (8 members)

StruManChu – The VIIth legion astartes, Imperial Fists: 20 Tactical Marines

Gab – The VIIth legion astartes, Imperial Fists: Contemptor

Castiel – The XVIIIth legion astartes, Salamanders: 6 Breachers and a Praetor

Mind of Metal – Mechanicum: 6 Thallax with two multi-meltas

Kor’Vesh – The XVIIIth legion astartes, Salamanders: 2 Pyroclasts and a Praetor

Leoric – Mechanicum: Knight Errant

Barabbas Sogolon – The XIVth legion astartes, Death Guard (loyalists): Contemptor

Frozenfoods – The XVIIIth legion astartes, Salamanders: 5 Firedrakes and a Whirlwind Scorpius

So it is seven Vs eight – unless Chaplin Mortis would still like to play, in which case, just let me know how many infantry you are pledging!

Pledged Score

Traitors 89 points Vs 80 points of Loyalists

Yep, its an even battle that we have set up this month. We have a very even number of pledges between each side, but the tatiors have the edge; however the current score tells a very different story…

Current scores

Pledges – Traitors 1 – Loyalists 0

Score – Traitors 23 – Loyalists 0

Yes. You read that right. The traitors are 23 points ahead, as the loyalists have not yet completed a model! Shame on us all! In fact the only reported progress from the Loyalists has been StruManChu’s courageous effort in base coating his 20 tactical marines. Credit to Stru as ever.

Due to this sorry state of affairs the progress section of my report will be a homage to the followers of Horus!

Progress

There has been progress from 6 of the seven members of team Horus. Gizur has made the biggest impression on the team, completing his vow of 10 Word Bearers despoilers and a Javalin Speeder inside the first two weeks. The paint job is excellent, with a great deep crimson colour and some nice scripture details. 16 points and a pledge complete.

As usual Atia is a strong performer again, having completed a delightfully weathered Deathguard dreadnought. Just a Spartan to go for last month’s star performer. Thunor’s Hammer has also progressed nicely, with a fantastic red colour scheme for his first company promethians. One is complete and two more well on the way for this excellent alt-heresy army. Both Excessus and Brother Vidus have been busily building their pledges, including a sicaran, an impressive Iron Warriors contemptor and a MKV tactical squad. Finally Bulbafist’s on-going Iron Warriors breachers project has moved forward massively, with some serious painting progress. These beautifully converted marines will look excellent when done.

Well, that is the state of play guys. I’m off to hang my head in shame and plan some painting time. I will complete my vow this month – in Vulkan’s name!

Bloody hell, I think I ruined my models with all this black paint :(

Just kidding. I love oil washes. These are just quick dirty pictures, but I'm really happy with how these shields are turning out.

Thanks gents. It's been a lot of work. I'm pumped to get them done sometime soon.

Those shields.... they... they are beautiful ohmy.png

Awesome work Bulbafist. What inspired the bright green bolters? Will we get some hazard stripes on the chainblades smile.pngsmile.png

You bet! I'm going to add stripes to most of the yellow bits. The green bolters are a bit of a throwback to 2nd edition, when everything was a primary color and ultramarines had bright red bolters :) I needed a contrasting color and green just worked well.

So I've made some progress finally. I managed to get hold of an airbrush and have now sprayed the green onto all of the breachers. I've done the detail on 1, who is just awaiting the final wash, then i will tackle the final 5. However progress has been slowed by the arrival and assembly of a few new models, namely 10 Pyroclasts and the big man himself, Vulkan!
