knife&fork
As some of you already know Mantic games released a sci fi themed zombie sprue not too long ago. http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/pre-order/deadzone/product/sci-fi-zombie-sprue-5-figures.html Since many people (including me) have been interested in building plague zombies for a nice diorama/displayboard or a nurgle army this could come in handy. Unfortunately you don't know how they stack up in size compared to GW models, and Mantic frankly aren't that good at bringing out the best of their product. I have some of their fantasy undead range and it's not difficult to make these models look far better than the assembled and painted models you see on their home page. Make no mistake though, you don't get quite (but almost) the detail of a modern GW plastic. GW kits are also packed with extras compared to the Mantic boxes that provide you with just enough bits to keep every model from looking samey. For massed infantry and other rank and file I honestly don't mind. Cleaning and assembling 40 skeletons for instance took very little time and I didn't end up with any clones. Overall I find that Mantic provides a very reasonable product for their asking price. Oh well, enough rambling. Let's look at some pictures! http://i.imgur.com/o6pXL4o.jpg?1 (Yes mr Sergeant, we know there's a double heresy next to you. No need to point fingers) Above you see legs and torso compared to an AoBR space marine sergeant. Legs seem to be roughly the length of cadian legs, but less bulky. Torso is slightly longer. A completed model will be slightly shorter than a marine holding the same posture, close to a cadian. http://i.imgur.com/scQnCPf.jpg?1 As you can see the helmeted head is very close in size to a guardsman. Mixing GW cadians with this kit will take a bit of work but give good results as body parts are not too different in scale. You can also mix parts from Mantic fantasy zombies and ghouls for more variety. Mantic has a special deal on a zombie horde (last day is today, sunday) with 60 plauge zombies + 9 fantasy ghouls and 6 fantasy zombies. Might be worth it if you want plenty. If memory serves me right you can get quite a few extras out of all these sprues, specially if you mix with GW parts. Hope this was helpful!
