  1. Unfavoured son. Mortal herald of nurgle. Host of the destroyer hive..... Typhus is a lord of contagion Plus. He is a pysker and has a shooting attack from his destroyer hive Also has a lead role in the Terminus Est army list. So plague brethren - have at him!
  2. Grandfather's blessings! I'm trying to decide on how to handle a conversion; The goal is to put a nice gut plate on my bare-bellied Lord of Contagion from the Know No fear set, as well as a bunch of flies. One of the options I'm considering is getting a Typhus figure, or parts of him. Can anyone tell me if he's the righ size? Looks like quite a large figure. I've noted that even my Deathshroud models are a little bit larger than my LoC or my Blightlord termis.
  3. http://i.imgur.com/wZmqKWE.jpg In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death. Kulvain Hestarius of the Death Guard The Dead Walk Among Us… (hyperlinks to finished models in here…when that happens) Greetings! Some of you might have come across my Night Lords WIP, Yes, shameless plug, while they will still be my main focus, I figured now would be the best time to start a little idea I had. I plan to make a small force for each of the Gods, sooo, First up, Papa Nurgle and friends! With the Death Guard in full swing for 8th edition, I’m going to start building a few for myself. If that wasn’t enough, I’m going to be fiddling around with “True Scale”; I want these guys to stand out a little more than the obvious Blue and Green contrast they will have when on the field with my Night Lords. For now, I’ll just be cutting legs and adding a bit of plasticard to make them taller. The fluff for these guys will be that they are part of Typhus’ Plague Fleet and are nobody special. That might change as things in the Galaxy change and ramp up, but only time will tell… (I know, sounds very Tzeentch…but “only death and decay will tell” didn’t sound right-ish…) Typhus: I’ve had this guy painted for a while now. The struggle will now be trying to remember how I painted him for my future DG. http://i.imgur.com/hFrFtRd.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/pnDmpym.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/jGA2eFB.jpg?1 Some quick work on a Squad Captain: http://i.imgur.com/YyWlMZX.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/Ho4OXgE.jpg?2 http://i.imgur.com/5A2e2yv.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/GoY9Sx8.jpg?1 I have this guy named and I’m really giddy to explain how I came up with the name (it’s nothing special lol)…but I feel like once I share I’ll have zero interest to build/paint this guy. So for now his name will be, B3th. Well. That’s all for now, CC always welcome and thanks for stopping by!
  4. So I've gone far enough I think it's fair to start an official BnC Hobby Thread! http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/gallery/album_14016/gallery_2760_14016_63226.jpg Without Further delay, it's obvious what this is for, so let's get into it: Links to Pictures: + The First 5 Plague Marines with my new scheme: +LINK+ + The next Batch of WIP's, including Typhus, and a couple of characters, also some vehicles in this picture: +LINK+ + Blight Haulers finished! +LINK+ + Poxwalkerd done, and some Blightlord WIP's: +LINK+ Links to Battle Reports in 8th Edition: + 2000 points of Death Guard featuring the new Myphitic Blight-Haulers going up against Tyranids in Maelstrom of War: +LINK+

  6. Long story short, I'm -still- in the process of assembling two opposing forces, which will exclusively be played against each other, and as such I'm handling the official rules more like strong suggestions. Death Guard, and as of yet unnamed Primaris chapter. I have made several modifications along the way - I wouldn't mess with stat lines, but I merrily swapped, or added extra weapons the little plastic fellows strictly speaking, should not have. The latest mod I've set my mind on involves my Lord of Contagion; Terrifyingly resilient, with an axe that equals a warcrime, yet after what I've done to my Gravis Captain, I feel like he deserves some attention as well. I was thinking; Hey, Typhus is basically a LoC himself - identical stats& rules - except he's also a psyker and has the Destroyer Hive weapon and rule in addition to his schyte. What if I endowed my LoC with the Destroyer Hive as well? He could use his ranged attack and it'd be interesting to see him buff his 40 poxwalkers that shamble around him. Lore wise, I think it's plausible because in the HH novels there's at least one more fly-infested marine (someone from Garro's old squad, I can't remember his name), so it's not exclusive to Typhus. Of course stat wise it's either best treated as a decoration or a counts-as-Typhus model if the figure would ever venture to other battlefields besides my board, but that's unlikely anyway. I'm curious of your opinions on the matter, but even more so, I'd love to hear some suggestions on how to acquire sufficiently swarmy bits to visually indicate this power on my model? I was thinking e-baying the flies from a Gellerpox Kill team, but maybe there are better -and more economical- options. Or maybe get a Typhus figure just to butcher it for parts? I guess I could use the gut-plate too.... I wouldn't want to use him as-is; He's a cool model but there's something awkward about him, and I prefer my LoC.

  9. Hey guys, As I started my Death Guard I got pretty sick... laid up in bed and I thought I'd slowly re read Dark Imperium. The first time I went through I whipped through it pretty quick upon release and it was definitely from an Ultra angle. I wanted to slow down and absorb the Death Guard aspect. Aside from the fact I tried to ignore it was at times geared towards a very young audience, I really liked how Death Guard gelled together until it got to the big three... Mort, Typhus and the Great Unclean dude. So here's my question... in all the Heresy novels it's almost repetitive that the Primarch comes off a little slow, and the first captain is usually the smart one, and naturally at odds with his Primarch. With Death Guard I did not think that was the case. But.... SPOILER ALERT: Right before the attack on Ultramar Typhus is chastising Mortarion claiming he is too late, and foolish for waiting for Guilliman to awaken. In fact Typhus makes it sounds like they could have wiped or at least put a very critical amount of damage on the '500' if they'd simply not waited so long to attack. This makes it feel like Mort has a personal vendetta... which I suppose is fine and it's usually why the good guys win. But beyond this first headscratcher the turmoil brewing between Typhus and Mortarion gets pretty bad. It seems Typhus accuses Mort of not fully accepting Nurgle into his life (like it's a cult or something). You get the sense Typhus wants Mort to feel second to him.... as in Typhus is the chosen of Nurgle, and Mort is just witness to all of his discoveries. Typhus also mentions discovering Nurgle first, and bringing it to Mort's attention. It's a weird scene and you're left with Mort feeling like he's got bigger problems on his own end then with Guiliman. I really don't understand it to be honest. Can anyone fill me in on this internal vendetta? They actually have a disdain that I think runs deeper than Ahriman and Magnus (though they seem to have buried the hatchet.)
  10. I've come into a free older Typhus model today, and I'm wondering how actually good he is compared to a standard Lord of Contagion. Is the Destroyer Hive plus the Psyker abilities really worth it, or is it better to go with a basic Lord of Contagion? I haven't actually used a psyker before, and I've only fought against one. I got a Helbrute at the same time, which I know is good (because Dreadnoughts are good and Helbrutes are just faster Dreadnoughts) but while I'm definitely going to paint Typhus, I don't know if he's actually good.

  12. From the album: Humble beginnings

Used parts from a Dark Imperium box Lord of Contagion to spice up a Typhus figure; Helmet and axe head were easy, cape took some carwing and will need a little greenstuff to pretty up the connections.
