varchilde
Any tweaks you would have made to your list based on the event? Good question. The Hydra kept the Necron Night Scythes honest in game 1, but was fairly meh the rest of the day as I didn't meet any other flyers (although to be fair the KDK player admitted he kept his thirster on the ground to avoid the Hydra, thus letting me kill it with the massed plasma and melta). There were a few other lists with flyers, so luck of the draw does matter. Wyvern was definitely MVP of the day, so much I'm considering getting hold of a second. Mortar on the PCS was garbage; didn't kill anything all day. However it's 35 points and is ObSec so can't really complain. A Vox might have been a better use of the points. TLDR; would consider swapping the Hydra for a second Wyvern, and using the spare 5 points for a Vox on the PCS. Swings and roundabouts. duz_
2 wyvrens in any competitive situation is kind of mandatory Wyvrens also do a better job than motors these days I like loading my PCS up with flamers I find it amusing they were more concerned about the Hydra than massed melta and plasma Whens the next event? varchilde
Greetings fellow guardsmen! I've got some leave over the Christmas period so I've decided to use some lovely hobby time to try and push through some of my back log of models. I present my 2nd infantry platoon: please excuse the chicken tray! PCS with mortar and vox. 3 IS with vox and las cannon teams. I'll post progress shots as I go. varchilde
Happy New Year! I've been making slow but steady progress on the platoon over the holiday; heavy rain today meant a cancelled trip out, but a bonus hobby session for me :) Fingers crossed I can sneak a couple of hours in tomorrow; really hoping to get most of them done before I go back to work. Pics incoming, promise! WarriorFish
The Emperor moves in mysterious ways. Sometimes it's the rain, sometimes it's the commissariat breathing down your neck... My progress hasn't been as good as I had hoped over the break, but isn't that usually the case? As long as something is done you're going in the right direction :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298770-cadian-82nd-special-operations-group-a-plog/page/5/#findComment-4608889 Share on other sites
varchilde
WF speaks the truth as always :) I had a push on the painting today and got to a point I'm happy with: PCS: All done bar basing. 3 IS: Sarges, Vox and Riflemen all done bar basing. The 3 Lascannon teams didn't get touched. Didn't feel the weather was good enough to prime them over the break. No pictures yet as the painting took priority; I'll try and grab a pic or two at the weekend. Actually really happy: nearly 30 models done in a relatively short amount of time. My quick and dirty paint scheme is paying off. varchilde
Pics brought to you courtesy of "which way do you point the camera?" productions... Platoon Command Squad Various shots of the ISs And the Heavy Weapon Teams which I will vow for the Campaign. Thanks for looking. varchilde
WIPs of the Lascannon squad. Pics are a bit rubbish as I took them quickly before the light went. I'd been holding off starting them until the weather was good enough to spray them. No such luck; had to prime by hand :( First up one of the teams: Then the squad as a whole: Washes to be added next session. varchilde
So a quick update: washes added yesterday. Started the basing process today with the application of the Armageddon dust texture paint. Which was also added to the PCS and 3 IS I painted over Xmas break. The new texture paint in the large pots is a different mix to the smaller pots; directly applicable with a brush rather than needing a plasterer's trowel. I'll be interested to see how it looks when it is dry. Usual promise; pics eventually, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298770-cadian-82nd-special-operations-group-a-plog/page/5/#findComment-4631422 Share on other sites

varchilde
Picture time. I've completed my Campaign Vow (the Lascannon squad), and based up the Infantry Platoon at the same time Heavy Weapon Teams with Lascannons. For the purposes of the Vow they were pledged as a squad, but will ultimately form part of these Infantry Squads. Captain_Krash
Really like your simple base work. varchilde
Hiya gang, time for another of my rather all-too infrequent updates. I'm between big projects at the moment whilst waiting for 8th edition to drop so I've dipped into the back log of models awaiting paint and worked on some additions to the 82nd's armoured assets: A couple of new Armoured Sentinels, seen here alongside their existing buddies. And a Leman Russ Punisher All the new models need their decals adding, but I'll build up a batch of vehicles then hit them all in one go. varchilde
Great work as always varchilde, makes me wonder how Sentinels will fair in 8th as I've always wanted to add a few more... With vehicles being able to get involved in assaults, and Sentinels being able to put the boot in already I'm kind of hoping they might make viable counter assault units. I'm really hoping all the iconic guard models (HWTs, Sentinels, Russes) will be viable in 8th. If they can make Wyches good, surely we've got to be in a good place! We're on the Emperors side after all! I think we'll see our countercharge capability come from Rough Riders and Ogryn/Bullgryn. Just a feeling. The Pounder
I've got a massive soft spot for Sentinels! Glad to see them looking so cool! I see you've gone for plasma, if the regular plasmagun and pistol rules are anything to go by they should have 2 fire modes! Fingers crossed all units become viable. varchilde
Hello my fellow guardsmen! I've returned from the Warp with an update to the Cadian 82nd. I have to confess that during 8th so far I've been playing Carcharodons (as can be found in the Raven Guard forum) and Evil Space Pixies, but with my club tournament coming up in a couple of months I've got a hankering to shout orders at my models. I'm considering a tank heavy force, so I've started painting up some new Russes. Here are some WIP pictures of the hulls and turrets. (Guns still to be started). I've also gone big into Kill Team. Here's a shot of my Scion Kill Team, inspired by a funny auto-correct problem in a Group Chat. I humbly present Gaunt's Goats! varchilde
Ooh. An awfully long time since I last posted! I will admit to have been very distracted by playing my Dark Eldar of late, but with a new campaign starting at my club I've decided to muster the Cadian 82nd for war once more. The campaign rules allow for Characters to "level up" using the Custom Character rules from Chapter Approved 2018 so I've kit bashed and painted up a new Company Commander.
