@Slipstreams: Im backand forth on the highlighting. I kinda like them looking like they swallow the light.

 

@ThatOneMarshal: The torsos are basic Mk4 guys. The wings are (obviously) Sanguinary, and the pads come from the standard Tactical kit. I hunt down the studded and blank shoulder pads with a vengeance. The claws come from the Warp Talon kit, and are being used to rep the Raven's Talons. Standard lightning claws will represent the normal sets of lightning claws.

been leaning towards a World Eater Heresy army, unsure if I want to tackle it (not crazy about rules or color scheme, but LOVE whats been done with them) 

here is a blurb I wrote up last night

I once kicked a krak grenade into an Ork Chieftan, killing the beast and losing my leg in the process. And how does my Lord thank me for my efforts, for the warping of my soul and lost humanity? He puts that monster in command of our Legion, leaving us to the whims of a broken demi-god.

Do I hate what Angron did to us? For forcing the damned Nails upon us, for turning our warrior creed into his own special madness? I wish I could…but he is broken himself. I blame the Emperor, that damnable tyrant. I intend to crush his golden halls, cast his guards into the same unmarked graves my brothers rot in, and when I’ve killed enough, when I finally drown myself in blood and emerge as the monster he made me…maybe then he’ll tell me why.

Why did he leave us behind? Why didn’t he fix Angron and save us from this madness? Why did he make us into the eater of worlds?

And then I’ll kill him.

In my head, the majority of my RG come from a Pred-Nomad force that returned to Deliverance on their own free will after a failed recruitment attempt from the Warmaster. The Praetor pictured above, and his part of the RG, will be more streamlined Legion Astartes and leave the funky RG aspect of the rules (and mk6 armor) to the reinforcements they pick up on Deliverance. Or as the Praetor thinks of them, "monsters and convicts"

 

That Deredo is gonna be killer

 

I've only played 1 30k game so far, 1.5k against an Ad Mech force(whatever the 30k version is called). I entered the game knowing the army wasnt prepped for a fight, being just a collection of models, and got the worst beating I've received in years. I can easily say the Deredo was the highlight for me in that game, laying down alot of fire power to try and counter the clockwork madness. He will have the missile upgrade, I just hadnt gotten to it when I took that pic.

Praetor with Legion Bodyguard all in Cataphractii Armor in an Anvillus. The Warlord trait rolled was "Child of Terra". AWESOME.

Not my usual style lately. I wanted a list that reminded me of second edition Orks.
This list is fairly shooty and has some mobility.
This is a two cad construction with Objective secure. It was a tough call to leave out the pain boy but something of a change for me. Everything has a job even if I am not sure what it is just yet.
The Kff Mek is going to follow the killa Kans and Dreds. the weird boy will join the Tank bustas if he gets Da jump as a power. the war boss gets to run around on his own counting on his boosted toughness to keep him up and kicking.
The SAG Mek will sit in a building and blast away hoping for a vortex.
I would have liked a pain boy...in every mob. Oh well.

My Anvillus with Praetor, Tactical Support Squad 1 and Deathstorm Drop Pod comes in...well the first 2 do. I was rather aggressive with the Deathstorm and it scatters off the table. Goes back into my Reserves. Could have been worse.

I've only played 2 30k games at this point, so I cannot make an accurate judgement. 

I would say that it's more important to enjoy your opponent before worrying about the army they play. Steve is always an enjoyable game

With 30k, Im Wolf-less at the moment. I expect this to be resolved once the T-Sons stop screwing over the release process.

 

and yea, I used the models I own. I actually would have preferred melta support Squad rather than plasma. I plan on doing 1 of each support weapon squad for the RG

Looks awesome, however I'd never play maelstrom unmodified and only play it modified when I'm forced to for tournaments; you're pretty much just playing darts in terms of objectives at this point

Yea, thats what I like about it. It makes for a more exciting game and forces decisions one normally would not make (do I finish off unit or pull back for the objective? do I risk charge for points or sit back and hide?)

 

I prefer Maelstrom over Eternal War. E.T. is boring in my book.

Well my group plays if a card is drawn that is unachievable (such as destroying Monsterous Creatures or Buildings/fortifications against an opponent not fielding any ), then we can dismiss and draw again. So a slight modification I guess. SIdes, you can always discard 1 card at the end of the turn.

 

Warhammer 30/40k is NOT a balanced game. A little work is required by all parties to make it a fun game.

I had a really good time.  I for sure prefer maelstrom over  Eternal War. We've only been playing E.T. missions for ...sense 3rd edition effectively. So I've had enough of that. 

 

I can bottle up and crush a Space marine army all day. Boring... 

Those poor silly Dark angels...  But that's completely unrelated. 

 

As the non 30K force I have to say I really like what I have seen so far from 30K. I think this was my first encounter with a legion force. Impressive. I hope one day to build my own.

Looking back at our game I feel really rusty with the Orks and was running on instinct. My dice really let me down near the end. I was supper pleased that I was able to infiltrate 3 of my units. Just putting WLK's army in a box was fantastic. I knew he'd find a way to fight his way out. He's a very tough opponent.

Yea, your infiltrating Orks prevented my infiltrating Tactical Squad (who carried the nuncio-vox) from getting in a good position. That simple act pretty much crumpled the coordinated strike I was going for and made me take some risks (like the Tact in your back field) that I normally wouldn't.

 

The number of units you had in Reserve was a pain, because I had to continually plan for what may happen as well as what was happening. That's a lot for my little brain to handle.

 

All in all, another fun and challenging game.

as just about everybody else in this subforum, I picked up a Battle At Calth set today. I then promptly tossed the tiles and crap aside and nearly creamed my pants over the models. I most definetely did not squee and start thinking of how to get more. No sir I didnt. *ahem*

I was pretty busy the rest of the day, so didnt get to explore the box any further. I did put off some sleep to chop up and modify the Cataphractii Praetor however, who is going to start my 30k Wolves.
I know I said I'd wait until the Wolves were officially released, but patience isnt my strongest trait and these models were so pretty I could not say no.

I think the head is a little high, but I didnt trust myself to clip it out and try again. Dont drink and model friends. Im shocked I didnt end up cutting off a finger or something.
