I love your rendition of Legio Ulricon! :) I swear I tried as best I could to get some chevrons done on his carapace but the tape I got refused to adhere to the surface and I eventually gave up ugh Pray tell what masking tape did you get? I use tamiya 6mm tapes myself, and never found non-sticking issues regardless if its matte or gloss I'm sticking to. Also, rad Knight Black_out. Regardless of being chevron-less, he's shaping up to be something cool! I ordered some testors assorted size masking tape that just doesn't want to stick to the paint I put down for some strange reason. Black_out Posted December 22, 2015 Author Share Posted December 22, 2015 Well I've managed to put in more work on the Knight and I have to say I'm pretty damn proud of myself. This is definitely the largest model I've assembled and painted. I'm particularly happy with how the golds and red chainsword came out. Next comes the hardest part of putting on transfers to really add some character to the model. Which brings up a question; heresy era knights wouldn't have imperial Aquilas on them, would they? And now for the pics. This is just a shot to show off how I did the eyes, Tamiya clear red over runefang steel. What you're looking at here is 3 Terror Squads, all equipped with volkite goodness, 5 cataphractii terminators with combi-bolters and chainfists, contemptor dreadnought with dual ccw's and A FIRE RAPTOR!!! Man, that raptor was the toughest kit I've ever assembled but I'm really proud of how I managed to get everything to come out with it. Things have finally slowed down with the racecar (heading the the chassis shop next month) and the hobby bug has finally caught up with me....and strangely enough I actually WANT to paint, where usually it feels like a chore. This is a welcome change to me! I've got loads and loads to paint. 3x 10 man terror squads, 20 cataphractii terminators, 3 dreadnoughts, a vindicator and a fire raptor. Question for you all though, I'm thinking of getting a leviathan dreadnought for more anti-armor punch. Does anyone have a recommendation on where I may be able to find bases that reflect the Imperial Palace on Terra? I'm looking for an almost mosaic or pristine look if possible. I wanted to try my hand at some marble effects. Thanks! Edit: I currently have a Galatus dreadnought, 15 custodes, a Coronus, and the Ixion Hale model en route! Started only minor assembly on the one unit of Custodes I received, still waiting for my FW order to arrive so things can get underway. Assembled my Ixion Hale and Coronus models during the week on a snow day. I magnetized the turret and the blaze cannons themselves so everything moves independently. I also received my Achillus dreadnought in the mail yesterday, so that and my Galatus will be next on the assembly table followed by 15 custodes models. I'm really intimidated with assembling the dreads however, I want to get a dynamic pose out of them but have no idea how to go about it.
