Diagonal Stripe (possibly black, possibly baby nu-sw blue or something with more contrast), with the legion symbol and/or pack symbol should work quite well.

I am not a fan of the baby blue, I am thinking a white or pale grey stripe, with the roman numeral 6 and the RT Wolf head legion symbol (hate the lazy blackmane company symbol being used for the legion).

 

The angles do not match up on the back for a diagonal stripe (going from the top right to the bottom left) and running the opposite way would mean putting the stripe through the freehand.

 

Would a thick vertical stripe look okay, with possibly a thin vertical strip alongside it?

This is called a Ginfaxi, and it is meant to bestow strength in battle or courage in combat to its bearer.

As she is to be the old dame of the legion and I wanted to go with runes and freehand which is markedly different from the usual stuff I do, I thought the ginfaxi would be appropriate.

 

If the front ramp had been flat I would have put it there, in fact I could make a 40mm base into a shield and do that, at the moment it is 25mm.

 

Also what about the colours. I wanted to jkeep it fairly neutral so as not to overwhelm the tank, but I am not sure if I have made the right choice, should I have been bolder and gone for a yellow/black combo, like the Wolf Guard, or a black and white like the long fangs?

 

Therein lies a problem because we have no ideas as to what colours or pack markings etc the 6th legion use in 30K.

I'm not feeling the red/white, how about gray/gold like the rest of the tank, or gold with a black background perhaps? I do however like the design.

Stay red but give it a wash of earth shade and black just to tone it down a smidge to get it in line with the rest of the model tone wise

Allfather on the hearthworld !!! I've finally triggered what has always bugged me about your shields : their lack of umbo s (or shield bosses or whatever you want to call them)

 

I like the pattern, and the second colour scheme looks right royal. The pastel colours would be more fitting for rune or wolf priests imo.

 

Also, I've just realised that a stripe might give it a modern/sci-fi aspect to the model, which would be a good thing; after all, these are vikings in space. :D

I think it must be the printer, which is using light in the scanning process.

 

These are photos of the paintings I dd for the shields, which got scanned as pdf's and then copied to word where I shrunk them down.

 

The white is administratum grey, so it is effectively he same colours as used on the tank. I could tone it down with a nuln oil wash.

 

The red and yellow are a lot darker also, but nothing some drakenhof or agrax cannot fix. I'll need to remember for the future to go a lot darker when painting shields for scanning.

 

On the plus side, I am ending up with a lot of these little paintings, I'll have to start sticking them on the walls in my man-cave, so I have a record of designs used :)

 

Thorn as for bosses.. I generally do not put them on as I find it really hard to make half spheres with green stuff. If you know of a supplier who does half sphere beads, that would be great and I could put bosses on my shields.

I don't know about any umbo suppliers, but would beads (meant for making amateur necklaces and bracelets) work ? It might be possible to find some that are soft enough to be cut with a sharp hobby knife.

 

Those darker colours are much better :)

Yes, I really should learn about adjusting colours on these newfangled computer-ma-bobs

 

Not too much to report over the lunch break, got the lenses glossed. Did some more red glazes to the quad lascannons & still trying to decide on the shields.

The grey shields look pinkish, because, I used some blazing orange in the highlight, which may or may not have have confused the printer a little

Not sure if it is te lighting or what, but the lascannons are a nice deep wine, blood red colour, not pink

One of my colleagues thinking he was being funny stuck one of my shield templates on the front!

If it was 40mm instead of 25mm it might look better.

Did the stripe as Thorn had suggested. Do I paint the metal section which breaks up the white, with white?

 

Is the white too bright, would another colour look better? I considered black , but was worried it would be too dark.

 

I was thinking to either broaden the stripe, or add a second thinner stripe.

 

I also have another dilemna, I was thinking to do a numeral 6 and a Wolf head in the striped area, but I am not sure if it is do-able, with all the split panels... What do you think?

I like the white stripe, but I'd probably put a dark contrasting colour on the sides to "fence it in". Possibly the same red as the Legion Symbol (aye, the true, Rogue Trader era version ;) ), or slightly darker. Alternatively, black should work, but it would then be best to do any markings within the stripe in black too.

 

I think either the numerals or the symbol would be possible, but not both, you're right.

I'll edge it with black, then if I do black numerals I will tie in nicely, plus a red edge with a red symbol possibly overlapping would not look so good.

 

I'll draw up some wolf heads on paper and see how they look later :)

Leviathans or Riot

So basically, you are saying I should get Leviathans and Spartans?

 

Considering at the HH weekender there was art of a Space Wolf Leviathan with knot-work on it, I am guessing that the runes are saying I should get at least one. But that means something will have to drop off of the wish-list to make way for it.

 

I have already dropped the idea of getting the CotW book set and trying not to get the Deathwatch: Overkill game.

1 to 6 leviathans?!?

 

I only have 3 dreadnought total. If I got 1 to 3, atleast 1 would be in full sprint mode, like Juggernaut, running forward to bull-rush someone , or atleast slam into them with an almighty rugby tackle.

Need to work out the best arm options

 

And why Tartaros terminators with no arms? Are they going to kick their opponents to death?

cause they can sweep  as per their rules but we dont know if Space Wolves will get stormshields  I have a gut feeling they  will  but I cant be sure , better to wait and find out I suppose
