1000pts Night Lords Starter List

Hi all,

I'm looking to put together a small NL list to start me off in the heresy and as a shopping list of sorts.

After having a look through some lists I didn't want to go down the terror assault route. So I've gone more for a general mix of things but I'm not sure if I'm lacking in any particular areas? Maybe I should be investing in more vehicle upgrades?

Ultimately I'm aiming for a more mechanised force but not until I get to a decent points level. I've already got a Storm Eagle and a Typhon sitting waiting for then.

Here's the list:

+++ Night Lords (999pts) +++

+ HQ (90pts) +

I give you kudos for running a non terror list they are common, but they do have an advantage over regular lists! I see you have mobility with the tanks and one rhino tank squad, terror squad can infiltrate, but you have one slow unit and a commander ready for combat with no home. Consider dropping a legionary so your centurion has a home in the rhino.

Now if you made your centurion a delagatus (rules on FW website) you can open up your options further coz he can pick a Rite of War, if you fancied it. Terror RoW does have some advantages mind so always keep it an option unless you really like your heavy stuff. You do have a Typhon waiting, and that 7 inch pie plate can always make up for 1 regular heavy slot

Thanks for the reply. I like the terror assault RoW but probably won't give it a go until I get a basic force in place that I can expand from so I wanted something more vanilla for now.

I know what you mean about the centurion, but isn't 10 the minimum size for a tactical squad? I was going to foot slog him for now with the larger squad but that might be a bad idea if they'll not get into combat.

A pride of the legion or chosen duty list was another option using a delegatus but I was concerned it was a bit low on numbers. I wanted to keep the terror squad in for fluffiness but is there anything you'd suggest to balance it out? Not sure what to expect at 1k from a HH army as I know it's a tricky points level.

I had a little juggle in the list and thought up an alternative with some raptors in. A couple of things like heavy bolters on the predator had to go, which makes me wonder whether I should drop it altogether and take more raptors.
