Work in Progress

some slight issues when it came to the resin drying or, when it was sitting for 7 years, or just in general. I bought these when Forge World had a sale which was just before GW released the plastic versions of the Shadowsword and friends.... I, SUCKER!!

Dunk in hot water, the part you want to reshape. Then bend to desired effect. In this case, I made the rest of the chassis first to get a better idea of the fit.

Before, with the Billy Idol impersonation

After with some reshaping. A tad more sitting in hot water and it was ready.

This is the first of the three. I am going to get all of them built then paint them simultaneously. It keeps the paint scheme homogenous and helps with my practice of assembly-line painting. With them being resin, there is some pinning that needs to be done on the large fuel tanks and another large brass pin for the cannons themselves. I am expecting to have them completed by Tuesday of next week.

No harm in having something a bit different, you can just say you got one before they were cool :P Looking forward to seeing them done, especially if it's as soon as you say... remember the commissariat doesn't like failure :P

Not saying it because they're different. I'm saying it 'cause if I waited, they could have been plastic which is soooooooo much easier to work with, and half the weight. Funny thing is, the cost doesn't go down. Go figure laugh.png

What is this word, 'fale-your'?

Hey guys, I hope its ok to keep posting how I'm getting on? I find it helps me keep going. So today I made some major progress with the hellhound. I think it's pretty Much done. a few little bits to sort out then start painting it.

Tomorrows job is to paint my siege drill!

I, Captain Baranov, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete a partial command squad consisting of Company Commander, four veterans, a Master of Ordinance and an Officer of the Fleet, as well as a Lord Commissar and a Chimera, from Codex: Imperial Guard (Previous edition) for total value of 310 (175 for Command Squad, 80 for Lord Commissar and the rest of the points for the chimera) on or before August 1st, 2015. Success will bring eternal glory to the regiment and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

My points numbers might be a bit off, as I'm running off of the the previous edition of the Imperial Guard codex, pre-name-change. If anyone wants to correct the point count feel free to PM me.

Anyways, onwards to model proof of my vow (Partial until the two other veterans come in):

True: you cannot do partial squads - missed that...

So the company command squad must include 4 veterans but can also include the Officer of the Fleet and /or the Master of Ordnance and/or Psyker? Or do they count towards the number of "veterans"? and if not what is the extra cost for them because no cost is listed (got the digital edition of the codex and I'm a bit confused).

The Command Squad is 60pts base and comes with a Company Commander and 4 Veterans, so that would be your minimum for a legal squad. The Officer of the Fleet, Master of Ordnance and Astropath are all 20pt upgrades. However, a Primaris Psyker is a 50pt/75pt cost model based on Mastery Level that's a separate entry in the HQ slot.

On the note of the Primaris Psyker and Psykers in general, how do we decide to handle points costs as far as Mastery Levels? I ask as there's no real way to model this onto the model, but personally I always take ML2 Psykers and never ML1. Would it be considered against the spirit of the ETL for me to put my Psykers down as ML2? It's the difference between the two of them costing 100pts or 150pts, so it makes a bit of a difference.

Oh yes, it was in the next page...

Right, I will keep the vow Baranov, but please add two more minis in the Command Squad to keep the points unchanged. If you don't have any minis to close the gap, I suggest count the two "specialists" as normal veterans with a 40pts drop in the total point cost...

Mastery levels are a pain. If you can somehow convey the mastery level with more elaborate painting/converting /modelling then fine. It's a bit subjective but if you go the extra length on the mini you'll get the points. Play fair and the points are yours... For example in the SM context people trying to replicate the symbols of the Epistolary and such. That's all it takes but it may not be that easy after all...

Excellent completion of your vow, Cod! Your paint chipping looks excellent, really love the metallic blue as well. Any plans for a follow-up vow? :)

As far as the blast effect, maybe some black drybrushed onto the shell for scorching and a little glow would make it feel more 'real?' Plus a little bit of black in the center of the smoke fading out would really sell it, IMO.

Yes, please keep this topic updated with any progress to report. Helps us all remember to keep those paint pots open :) Your conversion looks great, what did you use to build the GS fuel tank on? It's not mandatory though you can just rock up with your completed vow as Cod did. It certainly makes an impressive entry :P Great work Cod as usual an excellent completion, I like the cannon shell going off :D Keep the vows coming comrades! :tu:

No Partial squads? I wasn't aware of that. Alright, well, I'll have to wait a week to add two more minis, but I can bump it up to the full command squad, just not quite at the moment. I'll update the points cost and all that, but will that work? I knew I shouldn't have painted the Company Commander and one of his veterans early!

You can make the vow now and start on the models you have as long as the two new models get a before pic as well.

Get the paints out and don't drop the points if you don't need to!!! ;)

If you can add the two more vets that's fine, we keep the vow as is. Remember to take the pics of the remaining two vets when they arrive and let me know of the exact amount of points when you work them out. :)

Hey warrior, it started life as a chewing gum pot, I then cut it up and stuck my own ends onto it. Then raided my bits box for the other bits. Cheers mate :) I've sprayed it back to grey for now. The green s.didn't quite match the theme of my army.
