Red Corsairs CSM army WIP (new - Blood Disciples p.4)

Hello, guys!

I've decided to participate in the "E Tenebrae Lux IV" painting challenge and make this topic to reveal my progress in collecting "Red Corsairs" - a Chaos Space Marine Chapter .

In foreword I'll display my relations with CSM army.

I have tried several times to start CSM army years ago and until recently can't find right attitude for myself to continue work for a long time.

Right now I build my CSM army around "Huron Blackheart" and his "Red Corsairs" CSM Chapter (former Astal Claws chapter). Badab war story told by FW, especially it is sorrowful part about Astral Claws downfall - very loyal to the Imperium SM Chapter - manipulated by some concealed figures from Imperium of Man and Realm of Chaos alike, hooked me deep inside.

In my vision Huron is crippled in body but strong in mind. He is still a loyal subject of God-Emperor of Mankind and will fight for the Imperium no matter the cost and indiscriminately with means (i.e. fight Chaos with it's own hands).

The army (or may be better to say - collection) will consist of:
- Huron Blackheart;
- elite units in Red Corsairs colours (former Astral Claws) - Chosen, Terminators, Raptors and Bikers;
- other units are from various CSM warbands - loyal subjects (pawns) to Huron;
- various Demon engines and Demons (much later).

It must be noted what CSM army comes with variety of colours. Very good stimulus by itself as I fall in love with miniatures painting.
 
Below are already build models:
 
- Hellbrute. Painted it two years ago simply because the model is great and without any relation to Red Corsairs (or intention to build CSM army):

Recent additions are (after I've decided to build a CSM army):

 

a) CSM from "the Tainted" warband (all hail the IA7 book):

- troops: 16 CSM (16 -> 1+6=7 - number of Nurgle) with MoN, 2 Flamers (and additional CCW), five with BP & CCW, other with bolters, Icon of Despair and Aspiring Champion with Power fist;

- HQ: Chaos Lord with plasma pistol and something.

 

With this unit I have enough models to field "the Tainted" warband in various PTS games. For example from full warband (315 pts) with Chaos Lord (125 pts) to small teams of 5 to 10 models along with Aspiring Champions with different wargear (sword and plasma pistol; power fist or bare - BP, Boltgun and CCW).

They are on their way ... right after I finish the Flawless Host squad. Too little grunts in the army right now to show up the real players behind the scene .

Thank you! Yes, all Red Corsairs symbols are free hand. They look almost identical, especially if you keep a model half a meter away from eyes. I've tryed to take a better photograph of symbol but I can't with my current camera and lightning.

Sumptuous colours, and a nice take on the corsairs. The paint job on ol' blackheart is nice - even tho it's in the top ten worst models list for me...I think they dropped the ball on him - especially when the 2nd ed fluff for him depicts him (in my mind) of an absolute monster.

Just yesterday I've finished my Bikes and Havocs squad. Can't make whem in time as my 2nd vow at the ETL to my pity.

 

Bikes are in Red Corsairs colours. They are looking a bit brighter than Raptors because I forget to apply Bloodletter glaze on all red surfaces.

Havocs are in Claws of Lorek colours (splinter group to Astral Claws). The colour scheme seems to be rather simple, but it only before you start to paint those red stripes. Not very satisfied how I make them.

Today, with all recently painted stuff, I am a happy owner of 1500+ Chaos Space Marines army composed mainly of Chaos Space Marines ...

... and, as every eager Chaos warband leader, I already have plans for further expand.

Next models would be:
- Daemon Prince with mark of Slaanesh: I vision him heavy bitten to submission and marked by Red Corsairs marines (may be by Tyrant himself), barefooted (without armour) with broken wings and bruises. Cheap and effective shock HTH oriented unit from game perspective;
- Helldrake: love his codex picture

and hope to make him seething with fire and smoke. This means mostly work with models base ... future will show the result.

These two models also bring my army to 1850 pts level!

The Daemon Prince model is ready. The cattle mark on his forehead which I was trying to make with green stuff looks bad, but in overall I like him a lot.

My progress so far ... Chaos Daemon Prince is complete. I was planning to paint it in blue/gray-blue paint scheme but he prefer to look like a ripe plume

I also Finished Chaos lord in TDA in Flawless Host colours. It needed for gaming to better soak incoming damage and do his job very well but his other "accomplishments"  were dubious to say at least. He already saw two combats and:

- rolls "lol what?" result on Chaos Boon Table and died to K'tan from Mephrit Dynasty at first turn in game against Necrons;

- was chopped to pieces with D attack by Imperial Knight in his second game against Space Marines.
