I think chopping up tiny bits of sprue could work for bits of bone, and small blobs of green stuff for muscle tissue/viscera. Bones painted whitish, muscle tissue reddish, then you're painting Blood for the Blood God over it anyway. Just a little textural difference and very subtle color difference.

 

Hmm, now I really want to try it...

So yesterday, Some progress on my Spartan!

 

I've been putting this bad boy off really. I e wanted to do this idea of having a warning beacon inside with blood smeared all over the place on white walls, however the white just didn't look right. So I started again and went for a murkier tone and love it. The only downside with being dark is that the bulb does not light up the blood so well but screw it, I might swap for a more powerful one on the next Spartan

Thanks! Yeah it is a bit, I'm hoping having the light will draw some attention too it.

 

I see with the new mastodon model seen at the forgeworld open day, you are able to remove the top so at least when that is out work done inside will not be wasted!

As much as I love receiving new toys, a part of me dies inside as I then realise I have to clip, clean, assemble, soak, scrub and scrub again before I can then even prime, then wait a day and then finally start to paint.

 

6 hours in and everything is ready for a bath...phew!

Oh, yea i feel you on this one, it takes ages for me to clean up models, but it looks like garbage if you don't do it. Atleast FW is really cool about it, once there was a misscast on one of my M4-shoulder pads, so they sended me 4 new ones

1st world problems: a :cuss tone of new forgeworld resin turns up and your butler is out so you have to clean it yourself......

Right, well, there is a lot going on hobby wise at the moment.....

 

I have my 2250 army to get ready for scorched earth

I have also enrolled on a 40k campaign with my 30k eaters. This requires 4 army lists of 2000 points

I've started a 30k campaign which kicks off Wednesday with a 1000 point game

 

Phew!

 

What this means us a hell of a lot of painting in short space of time.

 

So currently in process of being worked on are 2 x Spartans, 2 x contemptors, another 10 chainaxe marines, the venator and Khârn. They are all at different stages but need the extra marines and contemptors by Wednesday so figure I concentrate on them

Our legion contemptors are one of my favs. They're clearly XII legion without being overdone. Looking forward to seeing them all finished up!

Yeah I think you are right. They are also a joy to paint. I hated the look of contemptors when I first saw them a while back but love the model now.

 

I've ordered some chain to add to them to make them a little more crazy looking, will see how that pans out

Detail and weather venator

Detail and weather 10 marines

Details on another 20 marines

2 x apothecaries

Khârn the bastard
