Alas, I have found choom has a counter.

A most heinous of counters, born of hatred, bile and spit.

The Raven Guard special Moritat character, Kaedus Nex.

10 man Veletaris with apothecary and tooled-out Lord Marshal?

So much wheat before his guns.

Thankfully I had a baneblade to avenge them, but BOOM is not CHOOM.

We'll just have to see :happy.:

Quick thought: characters on jetbikes can't replace their heavy weapon can they ? I'm planning on converting a Sammael Model to be an Iron Warrior character, and I wanted a bit more volkite, because, well... CHOOM !

i don't think that you can replace the heavy bolter - but you could give the dude a volkite charger, or not?

Yeah, but a big choomer would have been even cooler :sad.: plus it would have been easier to convert the plasma canon to Volkite than into a Heavy Bolter, since the model's in metal.

Well... how about modelling in the big choom and simply use it as a counts as Heavy bolter in-game?

Delighted to say I've been able to add a Glaive to my armoury :happy.:

Niiice. :tu:

Cool cannon, eh? Don't lose the front bit. :P

You mean, the big gun?

Looking forward to using it generally - came up against some Strength D in the form of a Falchion the other day, and seemed only fair to even the odds thereafter!

Aye, gotta fight fire with fire, brother. Can't very well let the opposition have all the fun can we? At least with a Glaive, you can wax poetic about ashes on the field of battle, the cries of the doomed drowned out by crimson light and deep, heavy chooooom. :D

Hummm... Oh well, now I haven't got a choice have I ? :tongue.: Anyway, rule of cool always wins out :cool.:

-+data package uploading+-
Target: acquired
Chainfire protocols initiating

Blue-tinted targetting reticules focussed in, the beige and green of the quarry's cataphractii plate washed out. Streams of numbers highlighted all possible outcomes of expected attack patterns, intercepted communications morphed into bursts of binary. The centurion broke from the squad. The time was right.
Landing module: engaged

Commence chainfire

Thrusters installed atop the moritat's jump pack fired upwards, slamming him into the ground with incredible force. The shockwave and dirt spray staggered the Death Guard, gifting more data to absorb and process as the attack began.
The air cracked to the tune of volkite serpentas, unnaturally fast cybernetic fingers firing in an almost constant stream. The centurion slowly tried to march forward as if in a storm, his impenetrable plate deflecting every blast. Closing in, he awkwardly raised his scythe for a killing blow before firing routines adapted, serpentas spreading to target the soft flex in the temrinator plate's underarms. Screams erupted as the heat spread down his limbs and they exploded within the armour, dropping uselessly by his sides and leaking through the gauntlets' palms. In a split second, the moritat dropped his aim to the same flexible joints atop the thighs, and once more switched to pummel the throat.

His gaze dropped down to the boiling corpse, noting every dent, burn and hole caused by his bombardment. Switching to an empty data wafer, he triggered his jump pack and awaited the upload of his next target.

Not well written, but hey, an Iron Hand shot a terminator to :cuss. I really want my moritat now.

The large amount of strength five shots you can make can really put a dent in even large units but it's AP of five can fall short against MEQs, as opposed to guardsmen, Orks or 'nids*. If RNGeesus is smiling your way, you can lay down some hurt on MEQs. If not... well, your Moritat probably isn't long for this world if he's alone. ^_^

* Which is why some people still swear by plasma pistols even though they are almost guaranteed to suffer Gets Hot!

Very true! I confess that I was underwhelmed against that mainly mechanised army, just because the Volkites couldn't dent most things, but I liked them against Jetbikes, which are at least slightly squishier. Oddly, one of those support squads performed better in combat than at shooting - so at worst, I'd advocate the use of them as clubs...

All over 'VOIP!' in the context of Hudson in Aliens:

'Independently targeting particle beam phalanx. VOIP! Fry half a city with this puppy.'

We never heard it fire it could have went choom

I need to put choom into my next Heresy novel.

I had freem in the Night Lords Series, so it's only fair.

It's in. Have to wait and see if it makes it to the bookshelf, though.
