Hey guys, I finally settled on a second Legion and while I love my Night Lords I need a change from Blue.
And somehow I ended up going for a White legion. (why do I punish myself?!)

After painted the Event model as a Preator/ Centurion I realised I actually enjoy painting white, which narrowed down the Legions I was looking at for a second force. Having the Night Lords meant I had a traitor force already (to be honest they like to dip their toes in either side of the line)

Here's the Praetor  for those that hadn't seen it in the Night Lord thread.

Decided the Navigator had spent enough time sat on the Paint station collecting dust, accusing me of forgetting him.
I'm quite happy with the way the tree and blossom has came out on the sleeve, much better than the one on the back but overall I think it works.
Took me awhile to get the fur the right colour, but the one thing that took a few tries was getting the writing correct on the front and back, I'm not sure it comes out properly in the pics, but I'm happy I didn't decided to do it over larger areas, that was a trial itself with the brush.

And now for an actual update.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/pict%20capture_zpspulpwkke.jpg

(Thankyou to a friend for playing with his editor for me)

Two figures stood, one a giant among men. The other, her hair blowing free in the light wind barely reached the Giant's chest. From their vantage point they watched a distant City. A City silent, holding its breath distant lights dimmed. As if the City itself was waiting for the approaching moment.
A Vox crackles, breaking the silence.
'Ōame Squad has reached position. All units ready to begin compliance'

The smaller figure glanced at the Giant.
'I'll never understand your Legion's naming conventions for Squads, I may not speak Khorchin fluently.
But I know enough that that has something to do with rain.'
The Giant didn't try to hide his smile.
'You're correct little Mistress. I have heard how many other Legions do so, numbers, the leader's name for example.
But that lacks meaning, tell me. In the time you have spent with us since you and your fellows joined
our fleets. Do we act like the others?
There is symbolism in everything little Mistress. Some choose to hide it, others like the Sons of Magnus revel in it.'

Pausing to glance at the bank of battlefield vox waiting below he spoke one word.
'Begin'
The signal was given.
'Where was I?'
With a smirk of her own she replied,
‘I believe you were about to explain why your legion has such flowery names for everything,
Ōame Squad as an example.

In the far distance on the edges of the City Bolters began to boom.

'Ah yes, listen little Mistress. Listen, what do you hear?'
'Bolter fire'
‘Of course. But listen again. One bolter booms. But ten, twenty, one hundred. A thousand! Booming
over each other. Roaring like Thunder.
We unleash a storm and Thunder roars in, and what follows such a dread roar?'

The woman looks distant trying to find a meaning to the conversation.
'... heavy rain? A downpour usually.'

The Giant Grins.
'Exaclty Mistress. Rain descends after the thunder roars. Washing away, cleansing the streets of any
Waste or obstacle.'
You wonder why we have strange names for our forces. Think of it this way, we unleash the thunder
Every time our bolters roar. Ōame Squad is so named for like the water that follows they cleanse the
Streets of.. Obstacles. And they are very good at it little Mistress.'

With that the woman turned to the distant city. The sound of bolters and heavy ordinance exchanging fire.
Closing her eyes she could hear the thunder. A great storm decending upon this world's capital.

Almost to himself the Giant whispered.
'Listen to the Storm, listen well little Mistress. You are a Rememberancer. Remember how we bring a storm to these worlds.
For you, that we do this.'

The Sargent for the first Tactical squad complete.

Thanks guys :)

And I've finished the Standard Bearer.
I give you Honoured Tsuneo, known to his brothers as The Mountain.

Now back to painting Tactical Marines. Lets see how many I can get painted before I decide to build another member for the command squad.

And I return with updates. (see already more regular than the Night Lords.)

While not a full unit update I've managed to complete another 5 marines to go with the Sargent above.

I've tried to make each of them unique from each other, be it a red panel on the backpack, or leg, collar ect. We'll see if I can keep that up for the whole army but I'm hopefull.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0430_zpsf0p5szvk.jpg

Sargent from above with the unit's Vexilla.

And the other brothers.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0431_zpstfmi3ixh.jpg

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0432_zpsmxf4wqko.jpg

Group shot. I've converted blades for most of the units I've built so far for them, with only one or two per unit having the normal bolter attachment or knife for additional combat weapon.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0426_zps4nsxqgbh.jpg

I've also started working on another two for the Command Squad.

Two Veterans, The kneeling one was created from cutting down the old kneeling mark6 and lots of green stuff. They ended up bulkier than normal mark 2 but I think they work.

So a little WiP shot.

I liked the idea of not limiting the Scars to Mongol influence.

Pretty sure the Chogorian sedentary civilisation is based on ancient/medieval China, Japan, Tibet and maybe other East Asian civlisations. Shiban's guandao is a Chinese weapon. Qin Xa's name sounds Chinese as opposed to Mongolian. I think some Japanese weapons would fit just as well. The nodachi for example.

You could have brotherhoods recruited from aspirants of non-nomadic Chogorian stock. After the Khan conquered the Palatine's empire, he likely gained followers from among the "imperial' population. The WS could exhibit pretty diverse Asiatic influences.

That's pretty much spot on for my thoughts and what I plan to do.

I like the idea that while their former allegiance is replaced by allegiance to the Khan I can still see whole Brotherhoods being formed from intakes from the same area. Causing each Brotherhood to take on it's own identity. Besides as the Forge World books have shown. Just because a Legion is famed for one thing (this case bikes and speed) it doesn't just forget everything else. Still maintaining units for siege warfare, city fighting ect.

I return with another update.
While I haven't finished the remaining four members of the first tactical squad, they are next on the painting table. I plan to finish them over the next couple days and atleast one of the WiP command squad members.

But onto the Update.

I give you Divine Judgement.

A Sicaran Venator for the White Scars.
I pulled it apart to repaint and think it went well. Bar one issue, I reassembled it before painting it's name upon the small panel I'd left for it. Far to fiddly to do now without pulling the cannon off again.

So will have to see if I can find a small plate in my spares to paint it on and apply.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0463_zpsmaci2e7a.jpg

I've also started a project to run a long side this, mainly to stop me going insane from painting white.
(note to self don't paint tanks white by hand, remember to buy spray, never again...)

'Many misunderstand our Legion. Believing us to be nothing more than dirt shovelers.
Devoid of elegance and an understanding of other ways of war.
You and the Imperium have long believed that was all we were good for. Our deaths going unaccounted, our victories just a footnote.
We are more than that. While we destroy we wish the chance to rebuild.
For we are Architects and builders as much as destroyers.
The Legion as a whole has been broken by Terra's misuse. I will not allow that, we will finally stand with our heads held high once again.
For the good of the Imperium and Humanity Terra must fall.'

I give you my Warsmith (Name to be decided.)

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0454_zpsj23gnrob.jpg

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0452_zpsgevdksev.jpg

And the first five Iron Warriors, a five man Havoc squad.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0459_zpslcog75lo.jpg

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0458_zpskh1oqybr.jpg

As said at the start I plan to finish the remaining four members of the White Scars tactical squad, then moving on to the other two tacticals. To break that up I've claimed back 40 tacticals from my Night Lords to become Iron Warriors and will be working them in as I go to stop me burning out. (I decided, since I only play Terror Assault with the Night Lords the big pile of models might as well be used for the other two Legions. )

I'm back with some more Progress. You can't say I don't spoil you.

So to break up some of the white I've managed the first five of the the first 15 man tactical for my Iron Warriors.

Each Tactical will have two to three of these boarding shields within. One I think it works with storming trenches and fortifications. And two, the image of the shield bearing members being ordered to shield those carrying bombs or other members is too cool ignore http://i2.ifrm.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

So I've still got another 40 tactical and 30 other troops to complete for the Iron Warriors. Knowing how quick I can knock these out compared to the White Scars they might even get finished first.

So Pretty picture time.

Sargent and Nucio

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0470_zpsmgthnru2.jpg

The two shield brothers and the fifth model.

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/loquile/IMAG0467_zps3zm7ea4l.jpg

And group shot.

I've also managed some progress on the White Scars, They're at the stage where I need to paint the Legion symbol, pick out details and then weather and apply bolters. So first squad is nearly complete.

As always thanks for looking

I'll just leave this here: link

Whoops, nevermind, you've already seen the new White Scars kits. That'll teach me to check the threads first...

My mess-ups aside, these are some really beautiful models Loquille, your Scars are gorgeous with that bright clean white scheme(no easy task to accomplish, I'm sure). Your Iron Warriors on the other hand are wonderfully dark and menacing, I especially like the gold eye lenses as it's not something you usually see.

Thanks guys :)

I got distracted.

Bolters roared nearby, but the fighting had left this district for now. Keeping low Haru ran across the open street, dust clinging to his armour. Behind him support troops crept forward, watching for mortals lying in wait.
Reaching the other side Haru glanced around the corner seeing his target. Taking this city had so far been as straight forward as expected. What was not expected by the Command was how brutal it would become. Ahead a collapsed building, the structure’s use before the Legion came no longer recognisable. All over the city Brothers were falling, and buried in the edge of the building, one of those he could reach.
He paused, hearing those that had moved up with him open fire in the adjoining street. Bolters roared, while Volkites could be heard in between the Choom sound recognisable over the boom.

Keeping low Haru sprinted across to his brother. No shots followed with surprised him.
Coming in alongside the fallen he was amazed that he still drew breath. At his arrival the Brother’s eyes shot open.
‘Brother I can’t move’ Whispered the White Scare Haru knelt before.
The simple act of whispering caused the fallen to start coughing violently, exhaling Blood into the dust filled air. Haru knew he would be marked by the little specks mixing with the dust already laying upon his armour. He didn’t care, he had a duty to perform.
I’m here Brother. I’ll signal for the support to join us, if we can free you..’
‘No’
‘Brother’
‘It’s no use’ The brother whispered. Fainter now Causing Haru alarm.
The one arm free raised to stop him from moving closer.
‘I’m cold Apothecary. I can’t feel anything but cold. ‘
More blood flaked the air.
‘This must be what the mortals feel, so cold.
Let me rest, Brother. ‘
Moving to kneel beside the Scar Haru gripped the free arm, feeling him grip back, revealed just how little strength remained to the fallen warrior.
Now close enough to see his identification, a small talisman. Haru spoke.
‘ Brother Jirou, you have done the Legion and Terra proud. Your spirit will live on as I take this gift from you.
You shall be remembered’.
Even as he finished speaking his fallen brother expired.
Placing the slack gauntlet over Jirou’s chest. Haru raised his Narthecium, and with a blink click it whirred into life.

Thunder roared and the city cowered. For the Storm that follows sweeps all aside.

Primus Apothecary Haru.

Back with another Primus Apothecary, this time for the Iron Warriors. For some reason I enjoy working on them.

Big thank you to Chickenleg for the helm.

Coren Followed behind the assaulting units, him and those of his trade, spread across the great line, intermixed with the second wave.  Even now, the first wave battling through the outer trenches great explosions would burst ahead and above the advancing wave of Iron.  Shrapnel rained down upon them, all but ignored. Adding the image of heavy rain striking metal. Causing Coren to smile behind his helmet.

The smile vanished a moment later when one of those shells finally hit the second wave. 80 metres to his right he saw several brothers simply vanish, others thrown like ragdolls.

‘Second wave under fire’

‘Acknowledged.

First wave slowed. Ability to reach gun pits being recalculated. Begin reinforcement.’

Over the Vox the order was given. The roar of shells continued to fall as the enemy knew, if they could stop the second assault, the first would fail.

The time for a slow measured advance was over, as one the wave charged through the no man’s land, keeping to what cover was available. Already the Apothecarium’s Private Vox channel spoke of casualties mounting. The shelling was finding its mark.

A mis-step saved his life. A great explosion erupted to his right, the force of it sending him crashing into a shell crater. Coming to a stop when he met a fallen warrior.

Rising just enough to crawl to the edge of the crater he peered over. The trenchworks were barely 50 metres away. Even now the second wave, judging by the vox channels, having took more losses than anticipated, finally began to add their strength to the 1st.

With a sigh he slipped back down to where the fallen lay and activated his personal log.

‘Fallen brother of the 97th Grand Battalion. Assault on non-compliant trenchline. Defending the eastern edge of the Capital.’

He ducked as another shell went off nearby. Showering him in mud and fragments of Emperor knows what.

‘No identifying marks upon armour.’

Turning the fallen over a sigh escaped his lips as he assessed the damage. A high calibre shell had torn him apart. Even just glancing at the damage Coren knew at least one Gland was beyond saving.

‘Neck Progenoid, beyond harvest. Activating for the second incision.’

Even as he carved through his fallen brother. And with a care many would believe beyond an Astartes sealed the one, just the one Gland in sealant. He tuned into the Vox. Losses were high, but the trenches were falling. Listening to the sounds of the battlefield. Bolter fire and the sound of mortal weapons were slowly replacing the roar of heavy artillery.

Rising from the crater, he made it into the trench without drawing any fire, the scene that greeted him told him why. Three to four deep in places the mortals had tried to hold them back. But it wasn’t enough, stepping through the butchery, he started to come across the bodies he was here for.

The first, felled by mass gun fire. Both glands lost.

The second, glands harvested.

The third, one lost, one harvested.

The fourth, Glands lost.

Such a waste.

Bringing the Iron within was painful, for both sides. But the Iron always won out in the end.

Coren wondered just how many he and his brothers would be harvesting this bleak day. And, if their deaths would even matter to the Imperium beyond.

His Vox lit briefly. Third assault wave advancing.
