Empire great cannon to replace knight battle cannon?

Would the empire great cannon be an appropriate size to swap in for the knight battle cannon in order to get a more ornamental look?

Just a rough eyeball, but the barrel would look a bit 'stumpy', but the diameter seems like it might be correct, which'd be the big issue. If they mated up well, maybe use the battle cannon (in part or whole) to extend the great cannon - that'd give it the 'right' length, while still adding the ornamentation.

Thanks.  It might mate up well with the thicker part at the base of the cannon.

Actually, I was just eyeballing based on the image on the GW site and using the gunners for scale. Base of the Battle Cannon, against a Marine, comes up to the top of the knee - about 10mm-12mm. Looking at the Empire Great Cannon, it also appears to be roughly knee height in diameter scaled to the gunners shown with it.

I don't have a knight, but the outer diameter of the Empire Great Cannon is 10mm, inner diameter 6mm. For the Mortar it's 13mm and 9mm respectively.

I already ordered the great cannon, so at the very least I'll post some pics once I get them both together for any other interested parties.

I have returned with size comparison pics! It turns out to be a reeeaaally good match when used to replace the forward barrel.

Thanks! It's a super easy swap too, just a bit of cutting and filing and gluing, and then you can still potentially use the original barrel for something. I would recommend being careful with sanding the cylinders down though, because it's easy to get a large axial misalignment of the barrels which is pretty noticeable. Mine is by no means perfect but I think it looks pretty good.

 

I've considered trying to give the bolt cannon some more ornamentation in a similar manner but I'm not sure where to go with it. I considered trying to use some sort of gargoyle/Dragon/skill head on the end of each barrel, so the gun would fire out of the mouths. I'm not sure if there are any appropriate bits though.

iirc, the upgrades for the Chaos Predator have one of those gargoyle/dragon head ornamentations at the ends of the barrel. They might be a bit small, however.
