World Eaters 121st Shock Brigade

Recommended Posts

Evening all! I've been requested to post some pictures of my World Eaters on the forum. They're traitor World Eaters, probably around the time of the combat in Isstvan, but I can see them fighting in the Shadow Crusade as well as they don't have too much in the way of non-standard equipment or modifications yet. Below is the 1,500 point core of the force, taken back in February and I'll post up some close ups of the various squads and units throughout the week. I'll also post some of the stuff I've painted since.

This 1,500 point force was taken to an event in London in February, where I won best traitor, having destroyed various Raven Guard, Ultramarines and Imperial Fists. Skulls for the Primarch! Blood for the Warmaster!

To start off, here's the commander of the Shock Brigade, Amarok, Master of Skulls. For some reason, the Nails in his head have left him with no only the desire to kill, but also to count. One of his self-appointed tasks is therefore is to count the skulls gained by the force under his command, which he does religiously.

Amarok is armed with Boarding Shield and Power Axe - his weapons of choice in the arena.

"The symbols on my axe? No idea, but they look good don't they! This nice chap in the Word Bearers gave it to me, said it would make me more powerful."

I don't think the shield gets cleaned much.

Hella looking forward to the rest of the force in close up if Amarok is anything to go by. I love the mix of super crisp paint and understated but messy weathering.

I have 45 XII despoilers sitting on my painting desk waiting for inspiration, so be sure to keep this business coming! ^_^

Thanks all! Glad people like them.

Isinfier - much as I love Forgeworld, I'm certainly not above using third party stuff! There's lots of good stuff out there.

AlphariusOmegon108 - The white is done using Forgeworld’s technique from their early Heresy painting guide (here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/fwDownloads). Only differences are that I use Vallejo's white thinned with Lahmian Medium to sponge on and then add a final edge highlight of white over the top. I always spray my models in sub assemblies too, so I can do all the dark bits with black or blue undercoat separately. This really helps speed things up and emphasises the contrast between the different areas.

I'll try and post some more photos tonight!

They are fantastic. I've been trying to compile a list of all the third-party vendors that produce items suitable for 30k, as well as any useful artwork and the like. I really need to throw it up sometime. >_>

As promised, here are some more photos of the World Eaters 121st – tonight it’s the Despoilers. In true World Eater fashion, these chaps are armed with Bolt Pistol and Chain Axe. I haven’t given them Boltguns as I don’t want to tempted to fire guns when I should be running towards the enemy. The sergeant is equipped with a Power Axe, Melta Bombs and Artificer Armour. Obviously, like any big Heresy Squad, they’re accompanied by an Apothecary to keep them going.

World Eaters Apothecary Tadaaki! The big bore pistol is standard World Eaters medical kit. I figure there are only two outcomes to World Eaters triage (‘biage’?) – either you’re fine and can carry on fighting or it’s bad enough it’s time for euthanasia. The ‘feel no pain’ rule probably represents something like the following:

“Hey Doc, I’m hurt pretty bad!”

“Hmm, yes, you are. Well, I can grant you the mercy of a quick death. “

Very nice work.

I especially dig the centurion and the apothecary. The blurb about the centurion's axe made me chuckle.

I dunno about you, but I've never been a fan of the FW apothecary kit. They are too chunky for my tastes. I'd rather kitbash my own - as you have done.

Evening! Here’s my World Eaters Javelin Attack Speeder. It’s painted the same as the rest of the army, using Forgeworld’s method as described on their website. Only some minor conversion work on this one – first, the addition of some spikes and flesh hooks so the speeder crew can still get their fill of slicing people apart. Second, some magnetised hunter killer missiles mounted on the flanks. They also make the speeder look a little more chunky and heavy duty.

Bonnet ornament! Of course it’s a skull.

The flesh hooks and chains are taken from the Chaos Marauder Horsemen and Skaven Rat Ogres.
