Wow you have been busy man, fair play to you chief. A lot ready for the ETL.

I am trying, I also plan to be moving house soon so want to build the models I have now so I can put my to-paint models in different box's.

Tonight, I built my Daemon Prince of Nurgle. Used Parts from the River Tolls kits, and a few bits from my bits box. I wanted something monstrous I think I kinda got it.

Hey there I like a lot of your conversion and the fact, that you used the chaos mutation-sprue for some.

But I just wondered, didn`t you talk of three different csm-warbands as you started your thread?

I am curious what the other two are like.

Will you give us what you promised or did your plans change on that matter?

:happy.:

Hey Yes.

Still in the middle of my house move, so not been on the forum much, but did want to respond to this post.

Currently I have 2 main warbands of CSM, The Plan will be to add a 3rd (and may be a 4th in good time... thinking some Slanesh Style Space Wolfs, and then some Plague Marines)

But yes Currently The Primary Group is the Iron Warriors, but I also have a section of Renegade marines who are a home brew chapter I call 'The Illuminated Dragoons'.. This is the warbands Daemon Prince - Tridon the Sinister and then one of the tanks I painted for it.

Edit: These are old photos and I painted these guys a few years ago, I think my painting has improved since then.

Slaaneshi Space Wolves... that sounds like an interesting concept, would definetly like to see they'd pan out. Your painting from five years ago doesn't look that bad. The predator and the demon prince look great.

Any chance we might see a loyalist Illuminated Dragoon at some point in the future as an example of how they looked before?

Thanks!

For the Space Wolves, I havent fully decided on a Palet. The core theme of them is going to be "Metal Music", so not the Emperors Children's excess of perfection, just something quite a bit darker.

The Loyalist Illuminated Dragoons, were called the Emperor's Harbingers, and when I started collecting the army they were loyalists I just decided I didnt like playing against other marine players, so I ripped up the aquilars and made them renegades.

Bellow is the a pickture of the Marines before becoming renegades, and then a bad one of how they are now.... I doubt I will return to this warband as the paint palet was just too problematic to enjoy painting.

They don't look too bad. I think it'd be cool to see them done up as renegades still.

As for the Wolves, I can't help but think of Lordi as possible influences for the attitude and general aesthetic for them. Should be cool to see.

Especially if you give a least one of them the platform shoes

Thanks for the quick response! I like th blue and gold of the Dragoons, but I think it`s a bit similiar to the Iron Warriors, at least it looks like that in the picture. Do you know of the colours for the traitor wolves yet? Did you mean, they should be a darker pink?

If their theme is metal music, have you considered to do something like black metal corpse paint on their faces?

Not red or blue "pack coulours", but the whole face painted in black and white.

I would do that :happy.: , actually kind of strange, that I haven`t heard of anyone doing this with his csm`s.

I think this could make them stand out, especially then they face loyal SW`s. Just a suggestion.

Greetings,

Velype

Edit; P.S.: I really do like the Nurgle prince, I think the troll body really makes him standout, the puking fits the theme superb. :biggrin.:

The backhair and all that, really looks like something you don`t see everyday!

Yes, that is the kinda idea I was going with... but with a spoonful of Nordic/Wolfing added in..

The colours are off slightly in the photos, the Dragoons are more Light Blue, White and Bone.. they look quite the contrast with my Dull Iron painted Warriors.

For the Wolves I am thinking a Dark Grey, contrasted with squad based highlights.. in yes a way similar way you stated, though havent even started work on them yet. Projecting 2018 or 2019 for this warband.

And thank you for the compliments on the Prince, I have done a pile more sculpting on him since the last photo but it's now in a box sitting in my new house. Going to be a few more weeks before I get anything done.

So you consider corpsepaint?

Some might consider it goofy, but I think it could look quite cool, given enough time and effort...

Sorry if I`m annoying you with it, it just happens that I like my own idea that much. :biggrin.::tongue.:

I did't even know what corpsepaint was.. (After a short Google Image Search) Yes.. something like that could be quite cool, the right tones would add a splash of color without assaulting the eyeballs as much.  (Which is the line I want to walk with my Slaanesh Marines, I want them to look Good but appear to be shocking)

Great thread! I'm curious what weathering powders you use.

I have been using powders from Secret Weapon Miniatures, A Iron Oxide and some clay red powder.  I am out of the pigment fixer at the moment and looking for a more econmoic source, I have been told that model railway stores are good for bulk shoping for this type of stuff.. just need to do it, and it is near the top of my list as I do have most of my R&H to add the pigments to.

Not to mention the pair of Knights I have just got.

Great stuff in this thread!  How did I misss it?!?  Must be the work of Tzeentch, that triksy bird brain. I'm loving the troll parts on the Nurgley Prince I was considering that myself, now  I have some ideas how it'll fit. Also loving the skaven bitz, something I have many of... so consider those ideas looted. Keep up the great work. The Dark Gods are pleased...well, except Tzeentch, he's very hard to please.

Well I have started Building my knights...

But Planning on building them with Swords and then magnetizable right hands, this will stop me from running dual-Guns but the I4 D is just too useful.

Iam also planning for one of them to be able to swap out a stubber for a Melta gun, but this will only be on one of them. Iam also trying to model in some Dire-Casters on the model on one of them so I can run it as a FW Demon-Kight with my KDK if I want. (Its also geting quite the odd head)

2nd Update from my new house.

Getting back into the swing of things now.. Spending a few hours everynight working on some Hobbie stuffs. Its nice to be back building models again (And just intime for the ETL).

Anyway last night I worked some more on my Pair of Knights I got from the Imperial Knights: Renegade Box set.

First up was the decision that I wanted to re-pose one set of legs I stared by following this Tutorial. ; this was supprisingly simple once I dry fitted everything.. I cut the legs apart at the Knee Joint, and then I realised that if I just swapped the bottom parts of the legs around most of the parts on the feet would work as is without cutting and the need for plastic tubes.

So I cut up the ball joint on the foot so it would lean the opposite way and then built both feet and then the bottom part of the legs, I then build the hips for the Knight and positioned the top parts of the legs so they would match up, as it was just an inverse of the standard set up it went together very well. See Picture..

gallery_63905_11231_19077.jpg

Following this I did some work on the carpace section for the 'Deamon Knight', I was able to fit the soul-grinder head very well, and with a little bit of Greenstuff and a whole pile of glue got something I liked.

Following this I used the throne from the skull throne kit, to modify the lower part of the carpace... I still need to add some more greenstuff to fill in some gaps, and to make it look more soild and to blend it into the main body.. but I like it so far.

gallery_63905_11231_678772.jpg

The Plan will be to mount this on the 'Normal' legs and have the Sword Arm Raised in a striking pose, then the Nurgle Knight will have the other leg forward pointing a Gun forward.

gallery_63905_11231_27391.jpg

Good call using the throne parts! I'm gonna have to be a biter and do something similar since you reminded me how good those parts look.

You should, they are great to use on a Knight... If your just building them for FW rules then some type of Shrine on the top of the Knight would looks cool.

Well I did some more work on the Knights Yesterday... Almost to a point that the only things left to do is to add some more Chaos Iconography to them and add them to the painting que. So decided to post up some WIP Shots...

First Up we see the Knights in the Deamon Forge itself, Every weapon is changeable, very happy with that event though its taken all week todo.

gallery_63905_11231_905288.jpg

Well this is the nurgel Knight, going to have less upgrades than the Khorne one. Still need to spend some time 'Destressing the armour', and some advice on that would be great. His face will have a helmet on it when its painted but thats going to be attached once painting is complete.

gallery_63905_11231_394660.jpg

This is my Knight of Khorne, I have reposed his legs and redone the whole head, and added some extra bits to the frount.

gallery_63905_11231_435069.jpg

One of the parts Iam most happy with on this knight is the Dirge Caster, I wanted to bulk it up a bit and make it look more like it was part of the knight. So bulked it up with some extra cables from a number of kits (Including the Helbrute Kit)

Well thats all for today, let me know what you think!

Vow 1

I Uveron rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete:

1 Herald of Nurgle, with the Doomsday Bell, The Locust of Fecundity, and level 2 Psyker (Shown by his outreached hand and extra details that will be on the base upon completion of the model)

A unit of 10 Plague Bearers of Nurgle, One upgraded to a Plague Ridden, One with an Instrument of Chaos, and one with the Plague Banner.

A unit 5 Nurglings Swarms

gallery_63905_11231_805856.jpg

A unit of 6 Nurgling Swarms

gallery_63905_11231_948502.jpg

A unit of 3 Beats of Nurgle (Converted with parts from Plague Drones and River tolls, they are the same size and on the same base as the normal model)

gallery_63905_11231_4608.jpg

All these units are from Chaos Daemons for a total value 721

This will be completed on or before August 15th, 2016. Success will bring eternal glory to Grandfather Nurgle and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Well managed to get a few hours in last night to start the first Vow.

The Smaller unit of Nurglings and the First Squad of Plaguebearers, got the grey tones done and the green ink applied. The Beasts of Nurgle got most of the Great Tones drybrushed on to them. Tonight I will finish this step with the rest of the vow..

I paint all my deamons the same way, first I spray in a grey, then I touch up any recesses that were not covered well in a darker grey, I then dry-brush in a dawnstone Grey, then again with Celestra Grey, then (for Deamons of Nurgle) I pick areas of skin to be painted in Nurgling Green (For Daemons of Korne I have used a flesh tone mixed with grey). The edges are picked out in Pallid Wych Flesh. Then this Grey tone model is washed Biel-Tan Green.

After this detail is then painted. Will talk about these steps later..

Last nights Progress for the ETL

Managed to get everyone washed and started on the bone detailing on the models. Using a Dark brown (Gorthor Brown) for any bone and wood on the models as a base. Then for bone deatils they are geting a light covering of bleached bone. The next step (not shown) is a very like brushing of white on the tips of bones and the teeth.

Like before going to paint everyone with this step before moving on...

gallery_63905_11231_1099745.jpg

That Khornate Knight is coming along swimmingly -- I really love how that Dirge Caster seems to have been grafted to the carapace fairly crudely! And using the throne as an alternate breastplate is genius! Almost makes me want to convert another Khornate Knight now ;)

In other news, I also really like your converted beasts of Nurgle: Those blight drone heads work surprisingly well on those river troll bodies!
