Good day today. My Exorcist arrived from GW (will defo be looking at that video tutorial) and my squad if Seraphim came in from ebay (and are already soaking in acetone.) I'll be able to finish my 4th Immolator from the spare Exorcist bits, have an actual Exorcist, and field a 3rd squad of Seraphim. My 2nd Heavy Flamer Sister also came with the Exorcist.

My next paycheque is going to be balls, but after that I'll be back on track.

All I have left to purchase:

Exorcist x2

Heavy Flamer Sister x2

Multimelta Sister x2

Penitent Engine x3

Rhino x1

Repressor x2 (or maybe 3?)

That's all I've left to complete my collection as laid out in my TO&E.

  • 7 months later...

It's been quite a long time since I've done 40k stuff. Busy summer and all that. I hate my job, you know how it goes...

Anyway, looking at maybe playing in an Kill Team tournament this Sunday, so I wanted to paint some Seraphim. I haven't decided 100% on the list yet, but now I've got a base of 5 Seraphim to use, might paint 5 more tonight.

The pictures aren't as good as I can usually get, but here we are.

I played two Kill Team games last weekend. The first against the Cult Mechanicus, and the second against Harlequins. I played a list with 9 Seraphim. Superior had a power sword and plasma pistol, and two girls had dual hand-flamers. I pretty much ignored scenario objectives and completely hosed both opposing armies off the table with bolt shell and flame, because they can't score objective points if they're dead, right? I have good feelings about the tournament tomorrow, will come back and report how it went. Hopefully bring some good news for the One True Faith.

The second set of five is done:

Now I can play a singel 10 woman squad of painted Seraphim in that Kill Team tournament today! Just going to go clear coat these and take a power nap...

Apparently I got home last night, typed up my Kill Team report, then was so tired I forgot to hit post before I shut down my computer and passed out.

So I played in a small Kill Team tournament yesterday with nine other people, at 200 points, using mission scenarios.

My list:

Seraphim squad

+5 Seraphim

x2 dual hand-flamers

upgrade one Seraphim to a Superior

melta-bombs on Superior

plasma pistol on Superior

leader: quick thinking for the 50/50 initiative steal

specialist 1: the one that gives weapons Rending, gave it to one of the hand-flamer girls

specialist 2: the one that gives weapons Poisoned (4+), gave it to the other hand-flamer girl

specialist 3: Scout, gave it to a random bolt pistol girl

Game 1, OML vs Deathwatch

Open board with a few of the Hobbit Goblin Town platforms and one or two small hills, not much cover and no concealment.

Kill points scenario, diagonal quarters deployment, Deathwatch wins Initiative

He sets up on two groups in a sort of cross-fire arrangement, I set up in one blob off to one side as far forward as I can get. I steal the Initiative and make a bee line for the smaller group off to my left. I wanted to bring weight of fire quickly to force a break test, but this was not going to happen. My Superior blew her own face off with Gets Hot!, though I did manage to kill at least one of his Deathwatch marines for First Blood. My two flamer girls got shot early, so I had 7 dual pistols going into Turn 2. They all shot at the same guy, who managed all of his armour saves. The Deathwatch guy with the heavy bolter made some good kills, and he ended up moving his second group forward getting me in an L-shaped kill box. Further unable to get through 3+ armour, I lost enough to force a Break Test, then lost more girls to failing that, then had a single girl left, who thought she might as well charge his leader. Then she died.

Not the best game ever. I made an error in putting my flamer girls so far forward, the plasma pistol was just bad luck, and all those armour saves on his part was just statistically unlikely.

Game 2, OML vs Orks

Ice World terrain, lots of cover and concealment in the form of random ice formations.

Three objectives to fight over, standard deployment, OML wins Initiative.

I deployed all my girls behind a substantial formation that blocked LOS as far forward as I could and waited to see what he would do. He had two Trukks with Orks in them, and he drove them into the center area of the board, splitting them up to move around an ice formation. I jumped my girls over to the Trukk on my right side and surrounded it to attempt to deny emergency disembarkation, then threw krak grenades at it. It exploded thrice over, but unfortunately killed as many of my girls as it did of his boyz since I was hugging it for the denial attempt. So three down for me, and two of my Specialists are dead. But hey, First Blood! His second Trukk drove around and disembarked to try and support the first group, and the remainder of the first group charged into melee with my Seraphim. Emperor bless the Hit and Run rule. My hand-flamer girl popped out and killed a sizeable chunk of the second group, and the rest shot up almost all of the remaining first group. In return he killed enough of mine to force a Break Test, and then the Break Test failures (always roll your Superior last, I guess) killed off too many of my girls to remain combat effective. The remaining survivor attempted to take out his leader for a VP, but failed to wound, then got hosed.

Game 3, OML vs Tyranids

Same Ice World, but this time I'm on the other side of the table

Infiltrate mission (the aggressor scores on VP for every model who makes it off the table through the defenders deployment edge)

Tyranids win the coin toss and choose to be aggressors. I set up my girls in a line across the table with my Superior in the center and a hand-flamers girl on each side to spread their firepower out. I also put a couple of girls up on terrain to get LOS to push his Infiltration distance out as far as I could. He Infiltrated two groups of Genestealers into No Man's Land, hidden behind two larger ice formations. I stole Initiative, then split into two groups to intercept, taking the high ground where I could. Shield of Faith and Hit and Run saved the day from Rending claws, and my hand-flamers got some good clusters of targets. It was a bit of a mess; both armies were Broken by the end of the game, but I had been pretty effective at killing his genestealers. He only managed one Genestealer escaping off the board edge, I killed the rest, but only two of my Seraphim survived to see the end, but I did win on VP per the scenario.

So I went 1 and 2 in my very first 40k tournament ever, and had a very good time.

Thanks, WarriorFish

Tonight I did something I've been wanting to do for a long time: convert some Infernus pistol Seraphim:

gallery_53134_10809_54373.jpg

No longer will I have to proxy models for my melta-cide Seraphim!

I took two regular Seraphim with bolt pistols, then Dremeled off the barrels and magazines. I stole melta barrels from the combi-weapons of my Betrayal at Calth marines, then used geneseed phials for fuel cannisters (I think they are Dark Angels bits.)

I am pretty happy with the results of this simple conversion, both in how it looks and the fact that I FINALLY got around to doing it.

Left to paint: 1 Seraphim Superior, 2 Seraphim with dual hand-flamers, 2 Seraphim with dual Infernus pistols. And then my Seraphim collection will be complete!

Indeed that's a nice quick conversion! I went to the trouble of cutting off bolt pistols and replacing with infernos (back when bitz ordering was a thing) but this is far easier. Worth noting to other Sisters players I think, this will save some effort :)

Definately the way to go, if you're not willing to spent money on four Canonesses, to convert two dual wielding Inferno pistol Seraphim! Did the same way back, when I got my first seraphim, though I'm a bit envious of the melta barrels, as I only had round bits of plastic, on which I had to paint on the characteristic melta barrel slit pattern.:dry.:

Back then, I was pretty much at the same stage as in your picture, when I wondered what to do, with the stumps left, where the magazines used to be. I decided to round them off and carve/file in some venting slits, in order to align the look of the pistols somewhat to that of the regular melters.

I know you said you're happy with the look and it might be a bit late for this suggestion, since the glued on canister bits might be in the way, but on the off chance you where wondering the same thing as I back then, now is definatly a better time to say this, then when the model is already painted. The converted model looks good either way!

I'd use the Inferno pistols from my 6 boxes of death company :P even though they might be a bit on the large size

Ninja Edit: I don't mean to imply that I don't like your conversion!

I'm glad the concensus is my infernus pistols conversion works, thank you all for the input.

In keeping with my original motivational intent behind this thread, I have a Sunday update. No pictures as it's just a boring assembly, but I made progress on my GW Exorcist. That kit is a beast, which is why I've been putting off working on it. But tonight I got the organ controls assembled, the rear deck and pipes assembled and glued to the chassis, and some gaps filled with putty.

Hopefully I can have it fully assembled and at least primed by this time next Sunday.

I think the organ playing Sister and the loader servitor will be put on tubes and then holes drilled into the tank to insert those tubes into. That way I can paint those pieces as well as inside their respective stations without trouble.

I have been a little frustrated lately, so I threw myself into a conversion project to take the edge off.

This is where I'm at right now:

I don't normally put so many accessories and decorations on vehicle builds, but I loaded this one up to distract from and cover our the plastic card construction. I didn't have small enough 90` angled strips to cover the joints on the scratch built rear troop extension and I'm not that good at joining them anyway, so I thought, "It will be sprayed black anyway, so I will just put all this extra crap all over it too."

I started with a Razorback kit, and so far I've used spare Immolator parts, some skull+chain decorations and a spike-dozer off a Chaos Rhino sprue, the front dozer blade and heavy flamer from a Chimaera, some old metal MK1 Immolator bits off ebay, plastic card, foam core, and a putty casting.

The Exorcist I was working on before this is pretty much done as far as modeling goes. The organ player is on a metal tube so she can be taken out and painted separately. All I need to do is figure out how I want to mount the loader servitor (sitck or magnets or something else?)

  • 1 year later...

OK, so it's been literally more than a year since I've updated this project. :ermm: I sort of quit 40k for a while, but lately have been more interested in finishing my OML. So tonight I painted up "Cardinal in TDA", who I sometimes call Armandus Hellfire just because.

These are not the best photos. My usual set-up for picture taking is unavailable.

Also at some point this summer I did a Retributor squad. Still need to be based, but other than that I think they're done. These are the ones that used to be yellow, back before I decided to go OML. The terrain is not mine:

Got some paint on my Repressor:

gallery_53134_10809_277805.jpg

Still a bunch more to do to it, but I'm happy to finally have some red on that black. I definitely put it on the table as often as I can, so it needed to be bumped up the list of things to finish.

I really like the repressor, but not the writing on the back.  While I think it is well done, it looks too informal and like graffiti rather than a pious slogan painted on a holy warmachine.   So, personally, I think it would fit the aesthetic better if you used the some type of lettering as you did for the "truth" on the dozer blade.
