Well after a long period of inactivity, and my partner in crime on here pursuing XIII madness, I thought it was time I had my own Heresy WIP thread. Some of the things shown at the beginning are not new, but I promise if you keep going there is some new content!

This thread will primarily chronicle my build progress of the 7th Chapter, 3rd Great Company, XIV Legion, along with any other heresy stuff I get up to.

'There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter' - ancient Terran proverb.

'In war, there are only two kinds of people. The quick, and the dead' - Unknown

"The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppose. Unlucky for him, we are the XIV legion and we shall never falter" -  Tamadas Dion, Legion Praetor 7th Chapter, 3rd Great Company, XIV Legion on the eve of the Sapathadis reclamation.

"For to be poised against fatality, to meet adverse conditions gracefully, is more than simple endurance; it is an act of aggression, a positive triumph" - Remembrancer Cataro Flande, aboard 'Echo of Barbarus' (Sentinel Class).

"Confront them with annihilation, and they will then survive; plunge them into a deadly situation, and they will then live. Indeed there is nothing I fear more in this galaxy than the wrath of the immortal XIV Legion" - Remembrancer Cataro Flande, aboard 'Echo of Barbarus' (Sentinel Class).

Legionnaire Vidanus Gorsk, III Great Company, XIV Legion

In a Legion already known for it's resilience and survivability, legionnaire Gorsk was somewhat of an exception. His outright refusal to die time and time again, despite suffering the most grievous of wounds had earned him accreditation from the senior ranks, and a watchful eye from Mortation himself. Gorsk's seeming invulnerability made an excellent pairing for his explosive and demolitions affinity and once recovered from the events at Isstvaan, he would later be promoted to serve in the 'Grave Warden' terminator cadre. A running in joke within the ranks of the III Great Company was that Gorsk would arrive first by drop pod and distract the enemy while the rest of the legion maneuvered into place. It had also been suggested by Mortation himself that there was a spare contemptor shell waiting should Gorsk ever require it.

As seen in the below picts, Gorsk was badly wounded in the dropsite massacre and was forced to make hasty battlefield repairs to his Armour using scavenged Raven Guard parts. The lack of fully functioning powerpack would prove to be a major disadvantage as his speed was greatly compromised.

Legionnaire Niquar Gidean, III Great Company, XIV Legion

Known for exceptional marksmanship with Bolter weaponry, Gidean's ultimate fate is unknown.

Legionnaire Debent Karkhull, III Great Company, XIV Legion

2.IC of Devastator squad Halgrop, Karkhull became separated from the rest of his squad in the thick of the fighting at the dropsite massacre. Like many survivors form the 3rd Company, Karkhull united around the banner of Apothecary Sadira until he could be reassigned by Legion command. His suppressive fire became a boon for the survivor warband, allowing other members to cross no-mans land unharmed whilst simultaneously shredding loyalists and cover alike. However, his trusted autocannon, 'Red Mist', jammed mid fire fight with Raven Guard guerrillas on the fifth day of fighting. During the brief moment of vulnerability, Karkhull was attacked by a hidden Dark Fury assault marine. His enhanced reactions sensing the immediate danger, Karkhull instinctively turned to face his attacker whilst his finger was inside the cannon's firing chamber. In the same moment, the assault marine Mannu Osgarg had seen the threat, and using his jumpack, barreled into the Dark Fury's flank, pushing the scything talons our of the path of Karkhull as his chainsword ripped its way into the Raven Gaurd's abdomen. The threat neutralized. Karkhull turned his attention back to the weapon malfunction, only to find his finger sawn off by the weapon's vicious recoil.

Legionnaire Mannu Osgarg, III Great Company, XIV Legion

Sole survivor of his assault squad, Osgarg proved a welcome addition to the Death Guard survivor warband under Sadira. His quick reactions saved the life of Brother Karkhull when he was attacked by a Raven Guard Dark Fury. Unfortunately, Karkhull would not be able to repair the life debt as Osgarg would later fall to a single sniper round which penetrated his left optic.

Primus Medicae Kyphas Sadira

Known in the 41st Millennium to the Inquisition under the moniker of Plaguelord 'Sadistra', Kyphas Sadira was in fact a very talented apothecary before succumbing to the 'destroyer hive', having made his way to Apothecary Primus of the 7th Chapter, and named successor to Apothecary Beimer.  It is speculated that Sadira did not have any measurable psychic power before the Siege of Terra, and that his ability was gained sometime during the Scouring period. Little is known of Sadira during this period, although it is known that he was a very prominent member of the Seven Pillared Lodge, personally overseeing the lodge development within his Chapter.

Sadira was usually armed with combi-flamer connected via quick reel, in addition to a customised apothecary tarantula array.

The quick reel:

Quick reels were gaining significant popularity with specialist formations (such as the infamous 'Hornet' suppression squads), the apothecarion, and junior officers within the Death Guard by M31. This is likely correlated to the huge uptake of the 'Deathspray' Bolter (Barbaran Pattern). The quick reel was a multi-purpose utility tool designed to allow a marine to drop his weapon and regain use of his hands immediately without having to activate mag-locks. It also meant that the marine was also extremely unlikely to be disarmed or have his weapon removed from his possession. However, despite the obvious advantages the reel afforded a marine in close combat, the real attraction of the reel was the other things it could be used for. Astartes had been observed unwinding the reel's wire to make battlefield repairs to vox units, trip-wires for explosives, cuffing prisoners of war, etc... Furthermore, the casing could act as a makeshift landmine, and had also been used as additional storage for ammunition or battlefield evidence. Despite the 200 or more uses found by warriors of the XIV legion, the quick reel was never observed to have been used outside of their ranks.

God I love this disease, so happy you finally got a thread going.

What other nasty surprises you got in store?

Thanks man. I guess I couldn't hijack Arkhan's thread forever!

There's 3000pt in little plastic bags waiting to be built...

Pardon the puns, but your stuff is sick man!!! :tongue.:

I enjoy puns :)    Look forward to seeing how your TS come on (I reckon they will have awesome rules)

I remember these guys

The birth of my neophyte slowed things down a lot, but should have a little more time now

Awesome they look so good. Hope mine come out as good as yours. That Primus Medicare is brutal.

Thanks - your praetor has come out as good; you have excellent GS skills. With regards to Sadira: Soldier first, apothecary second.

bravo sir bravo

Thank you, looking forward to seeing your fists grow.

holy crap man! this is AWESOME!

the broken, hand carried power plant..........genius. and the jump pack with only one thruster working, well you just don't see little details like that.

well done!

I'm glad you like it so far - I try to convert most models in one way or another, and spend far too much time thinking about poses and movement. Hurry up and get some unification stuff built goddamit.

Awesome!

Thanks, love what you did with Hebran Shabraste by the way.

Simply stunning :tongue.: definitely following this :biggrin.:

Thanks, get some paint on your angels soon.

Excellent work, I've always had a soft spot for the Deathguard. :biggrin.:

Out of interest, is there an LED in the explosion on the base of jump pack Legionary? I think I can see an orange glow? :smile.:

thanks

indeed there is - the LED is in the jumppack and lights the wool. The battery is in the base.

Unfortunately, the LED has since broken in transit so I will have another job to do if /when i move this chap over to 40mm.

How did you achieve such tight lines in your green stuff? O.o

Erm... persistance? If you are reffering to the Ultramarine head, that was proabbly the 5th attempt.

Loving these; the conversions, GS work and of course the painting. Great stuff!! :cool.:

Thank you! I've not commented yet, but I follow your thread and thought Hakkon's Riders were great.

So, it was my birthday last week and the Mrs had deemed I was a very good boy. Big thank you to Mrs Disease:

I also took a trip with my buddy to watch the 30k action at Warhammer World's Throne of Skulls event.

More importantly, I've nearly completed my Veteran Squad:
