Well this is awkward.

I'm meant to be finishing the build of a spartan, but procrastinated (I'm awesome at that) and ended up starting a Praetor model...

Not sure if to keep the DKoK guy on the base when he would be an ally. But as Brother Captain Arkhan pointed out, the Death Guard despised weakness. Ally or not, anyone begging for mercy or help does not deserve the life they have been given

could be the base for a great duel

"Come one, come all and witness the great transhuman sporting event since Grot-Bowling, the first ever Imperium Inter-Legion Astartes Jousting League!

And tonight we have our first match-up! In the left corner, hailing from the poisonous death world of Barabus, wielding a wicked scythe he affectionately named "Vera" and representing the Death Lord's own, we have Praetor Skullface!

And in the right corner, hailing from the planet [REDACTED] and riding his custom Jetbike "Goldmember", here to champion the [REDACTED] Legion, it's Praetor [REDACTED]!"

I think brother Heinrich should be in this jousting competition too, his Blood Angel Centurion looks tasty.

I managed a little more on Dion, although sadly I failed my March of the Legions vow. Remodelled the scythe to be more biker friendly and able to give the impression of a passing 'Swoosh!'

That is a really nice model you have there.

Suitably brutal, the mod to the scythe is pretty cool, but the little touches such as cutting and angling the flap on the front fin ae what make the model :smile.:

I think I prefer the DKoK guardsman though, maybe rotated on the base to be looking at the scythe slicing towards him, maybe a wee aquilla in his oustretched hand, as if screaming "The Emperor prtects", Then his head bounces away in a gush of vitae, the jet-bike screaming into the distance...

I'm just mentally picturing a trench line of Imperial Armymen, sat there with their rifles ready to shred anything that emerges from the fog-shrouded No-Man's Land before them. In the distance they can hear it, a high-pitched shriek steadily growing closer and closer, every man waiting for the foe to reveal themselves as their hearts hammer in their chests.

The shrieking grows to deafening levels, it's so close, surely the enemy will appear from the fog any second now... Any second n-

The rusted scythe flashed through the first soldier's neck effortlessly as the pale Jetbike swooped out of the fog, shooting along the trenchline at hellish speed before diving back into the clouds. The fading whine of the Jetbike's engine accompanied by the sound of a dozen headless bodies slumping into the mud.

LIKE IT !!!!!!

cheers mate!

Awesome posing and theme to the model, I love it.

it's getting there, may have a few more changes yet

I love that guy on the base it really looks like a drive by beheading, he could be a deserter, and those are bad, no need to wait for a commisar, better 'discharge' him righ now :biggrin.:

still not sure if to have him (the DKOK) or a rival legionary, much test fitting to be done

Surprised you noticed the canard repositions - i did the other side too, he's definetley turning the bike to get that headshot    :)

i really smiled when reading this - it's exactly how I imagined. Glad we are on the same wavelength.

Sadly no update, but i've nearly built enough models to warrant getting the primer out...

I'm beyond happy to see that WE finally painted!!!!

Loving the destroyers, as well as Mr Free Hugs ;) .  Morturg will look great when he's finished!

Very nice use of the Sons of Horus torso for Morturg.

Looking really characterful and darned cool.

Thanks guys! The world eater needs a bit of blood don't you think?

The as yet unnamed Morturg counts as has been a joy to work on. Glad you noticed the sons of Horus torso, I tried to be sneaky by attaching a 'black shield' to it ...

Its that time folks:

'The so called 'Hornets' of 7.3GCoy were aptly named. On Barbarus (if you are lucky), a sting from a single toxwasp will kill you outright via cardiac arrest. If one is less fortunate, the poor soul is subject to between four and forty mintutes of the most excruciating agony imaginable as the poison stimulates every pain receptor in its path as it travels around the victim's blood stream. Meanwhile, the puncture itself will start to corrode the nearest flesh, releasing a vile stink which attracts the attention of the hive. I have been told that the local custom is to turn the khukuri knife the second one realises he has been stung.

I understand now why some legions forbid the use of destroyer marines or their arsenal. With my own eyes I have seen the 'work' of phosphex. I have seen what it does to men and xenos alike, and that supposedly is an easy way to go. May our enemies hope that they too die of cardiac shock from the hornet sting, rather than experience the Chemmaster's latest offering. Just like in the case of the insect, the only fate worse is to be taken alive. Despite this, I find myself fascinated by the Destroyer cadre within the XIV legion. Here, in the Death Guard, serving as a destroyer is seen as a pleasantry, with no shortage of marines volunteering for transfer. To my knowledge, no other legion behaves like this, not even the Iron Warriors. From what I can gather, they see it as some kind of test, though how they prove themselves is unknown to me. Even so, the attrition rate is atrocious, few will ever make veteran status through a combination of volatile weaponry, almost suicidal missions and I would suppose gene decay associated with the inevitable rad-phage. It is not just the hazard markings on the backpacks that set these astartes apart, the lack of hair, sickly gaunt complexion and copious liver spots are a giveaway too, although I guess to an outsider, that description could apply to any of the Death Guard!

... Alas, I have failed in my mission to document the XIV. As much as the Hornets intrigue me, I have not had the courage to visit their nest. To most, knowledge is power, but perhaps in this case ignorance is bliss?'
