Play the feral warrior, attack the Vengeful Spirit. After trading blows make like hell for retreat, and then BAM. several star forts warp jump in and the field turns against Horus. then the warmaster has to beat a hasty retreat, with the united SW+DA fleets hounding him for a spell. it almost sounds like a plausible novel, so of course we'll never see it. Instead, 13 more stories of the Iron Hands and how their failure to adapt is soooo useful on the battlefield. You put a little bass, a little three cord riff behind that and repeat it over and over in a death metal growl, I think you've got the makings of a decent tune. Fire Golem
I really enjoyed this novel,a good insight to the VI,anyone else stoked to build up a VI legion after reading this? I spent most of yesterday searching my bits box for Space Wolf parts and built my first Space Wolve legionnaire. I'm liking the VIth legion a lot at the moment. Marshal Rohr
When I get around to the Space Wolves portion of my Dauntless Few I'm going to have a hell of a time making them look less wolf-stuff everywhere, and more barbarian. Dantay VI
My 6th Legion are pretty bare, Wolf-wise, with the exception of the Praetor. They work pretty well qithout and the dangly bits. I do plan on the odd pelt here and there though. Looking at ATS, Russ Honour Guard are said t be swathed in furs and carrying great harpoon like weapons :) How do you plan to make them more barbarian Marshal Rohr? Use Marauder bits? I found the book to be quite enjoyable :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314428-wolf-king-spoilers-and-discussion/page/7/#findComment-4193511 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
While I have 15k+ of 40k Wolves and enough bits and unmade guys to make another few thousand, I have decided to wait for FW to start releasing models before I start a 30k Wolves army. the oft repeated quote of how the Wolves of 30k will look different from the Wolves of 40k has me intrigued and worried at the same time. Dantay VI
Same here, which is why I don't have so much infantry just now, but I am going for mainline tanks and aircraft... I do not make them overly wolfy anyway, so they will not be affected by any great "cultural" change in the Wolves. The infantry I do have, I can always add to wolf-wise when the time is right :D Although I have been tempted to do a Raven or Scars allied contingent :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/314428-wolf-king-spoilers-and-discussion/page/7/#findComment-4193522 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
I have a Raven Guard army now because Corax was always one of my favorite primarchs, and patience is not one of my strongest traits. Dantay VI
Hahaha, the Raven Guard have always intrigued me. I am not sure how well they will mesh with the Wolves, but I reckon they could be a pretty potent combo. Could have an army of monsters :) Wulfen and the altered marines from Corax's failed experiment. Would be cool. How do you find painting all that black? Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
Well I used to play RG in 40k, so pretty boring actually. The mutants...I am somewhat angry on how the BL updated that situation, and a great hate for the AL was born on that day. Gav was almost added to my personal Book of Grudges, but I remembered the Last Chancer series and he got a pass. I want to avoid the ott wolfyness of the 40k stuff, so I'm interested in how you plan to avoid that and go the more barbarian route too, Marshal Rohr. I found the book to be quite enjoyable All my armies next compromise the power armor aesthetic, so no bare chests, arms and the like. I also tend to avoid third party bits that don't feel right for the range. I prefer the subtler kinds of conversions. A top-knot here and there. Very few unhelmed heads. Furs worn like cold weather clothing and not Liberace's wardrobe. Minimal 40K pack markings. Axes are the primary CCW, with swords reverted for commanders. knives are tools and used in conjunction with the axes. Stuff like that. It'll be a while before its every realized, but it will be one of the more unique space wolves armies ever on the board. depthcharge12
I think once Alan Bligh gets his hands on the VIth, everyone will be super happy. Dantay VI
Well until I get somethig from FW, I will be relying on iconography more than anything for my Wolves, and minimal wolfiness My PIP wolves: http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151010_223504.jpg http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20151010_223938.jpg They require a bucketload of cleaning up, but it is intentional. I am a messy painter, so do messy bits first and clean up on the armour I do plan to add bits like knives and runes t the armour sparingly but not pelts.. dangly bits and engine intakes n exhausts do not mix!! http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20150422_184917.jpg My Jarl, he most wolfy of my 30K models http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb456/dantay_xv/20150413_191214.jpg Anyway back to the book.... I am annoyed they retconned away all the honours thing for the Wolves, but in a way I ma also glad they gave the we have less honours because of our role and also we have no friends or allies because of our actions... Personally as a wolf player I can feel like that on the forums sometimes with the amount of levelled at the 6th. It is also good to see that the Wolves have learned that they must change with the times and evolve from what they once were to what they are now, andI hope they expand on how the change occurs. A good story with a cool twist in the tail. Fire Golem
No pelts! Except the Jarl ;) they look really cool though, and the Celtic knot work is excellently painted on the shields. I don't mind pelts though, the one FW art example we have for the Space Wolves is wearing one.
