I guess because gw chose the wrong material or processes for fine cast which shot any future non plastic models in the foot,so old stuff like the steel legion won't be getting any attention, guard aren't as popular as marines and so a sub faction of guard isn't worth the cost of producing plastics and so probably isn't high on their list of priorities.

I will say mad robot def chose the right material and process, I haven't had so much as one air bubble in over a hundred models from them, I can't say the same about fine cast or even forgeworld unfortunately

But the two part click and play stuff they can now do, like the chaos cultists etc. Should mean they can make guard cheaper to buy... Making them affordable to the avridge guy (or girl)?

Will there be more HQ units? Some Primaris Psykers perhaps?

...the power of voodoo?

Only another platoon command. And a company comand, made to look like scouts, they have the master of Ordance and that's it. As if there the platoon command of the heavy weapons. Calling in the strikes!

I'm very much stingy when it comes to Command. Power weapons and Boltguns add up to a load of points. Same with Srg... If there in combat a power weapon ain't going to improve odds that much.

I'm not saying it's wrong, just my opinion that a grenade launcher or another squad is better than officer equipment.

I feel the same about most of the elite squads, like storm troopers (who I love by the way!) if rather spend it on more squads.

Power of voodoo ? Who do? you do?

Remember, spykers can not be trusted. I would chose artillery over witchcraft any day of the week.

Load up them guns, boys! Shatter the skies!

Defo! But I don't feel right with basilisks... I mean, come on, they should be miles away from the front line.

I myself may have to take a page out of your book. I may have to swap some models around I like that heavy bolter team that uses the missile launchers gunner. I have too many of all of my gunners. I did take and magnetize my lascannons so they can fire lascannons autocannons and heavy bolters. I've got to take some pictures of mine again. So you can see my conversions as well.

:D

Any painting progress for us to see?

Any painting progress for us to see?

Yes! Yes I do.

I've been doing a batch of 40 infantry last night, got the black and brown done on all and then decided to finish one full squad off. I've also don't one of my Tanks this morning. Here is the infantry squad, I've moved/bent the arms to change the pose of the Sargent a little.

Here is the Russ. I've done it very dirty looking. I imagine blasts and flung up dirt around him, as well as the grime comming from the engine.

As this is a old verient of the Russ I've done it with a steam punk feel. Including the musket snipper riffle instead of the stubber.

Here you can see the engine. I think it fits in quite well. I was worried it might just look stuck on and not fully incorporated, I imagine this is the general look if the actually engine, but usually it will be more blocky and less pistons.

Message Begin: My Lord,

I wish to ask you advice on a subtitle punishment, if applicable, of a number of infringements an officer of the platoon I am currently attached has made.

The crimes are as followed:

Missing Equipment

Captain Umbra has a total disregard to the equipment he has been supplied with. When asked why he has no helmet, his reply was "I dunno Commissar, I don't need it" when I asked why this wasn't the case his reply was "it's good I look different so the other guys in my Platoon can see me"

Personal Items

Also noted, instead of the standard goggles to help protect the Regiments eyes in this environment, Captain Unbra instead has sunglasses. Note his eyes appear slightly blood shot and his skin dry. - Medical records attached ((-

Instead of thick gloves he has fingerless light gloves and none standard boots.

Worst of all is the fact that his combat weapon is 'up on my [The Captains] wall" and his has a crude looking shotgun and has shotgun shells rapped all over his body. Why I requested a reason for none standard issue weaponry he replied "Its grate for urban warfair!" Smiled at me and lit a cigaret.

Presentation

The main factor is Captain Unbra's hair cut. It's not standard and it's long.

For the enclosed enviro suited Steel Legion this is often overlooked. However, as he refuses to have no helmet it's obvious.

As well as being long and so could easily be easy to grab by an enemy.

The real problem is that it's the cut of 'House Celmaw' a Hive gang on Armageddon that the Captain used to be a member/possible-leader before being recruited into the 141st.

This could cause tension between the captain and some of his men. A lot of the 141st had been Hive gang members, some possibly rival to 'House Celmaw'

Disregard to orders

Captain Unbra always completes any task given to him and to a good standard. But if he can bend the rules he will do.

For example:

Easy Company 1st Platoon of witch he is Captain and is said to be the top Company and Platoon in the 141st was given the mission to hold a bridge. 2nd Platoon, Two Russ and I were attached to the 1st Platoon.

After taking the bridge with almost no opposition Captain Unbra put together a '"raiding party,"

Him and two other pick of the little troopers from his platoon, a Veteran squad and a small scout unit disappeared into the ruined city over the enemy's side of the river.

When I raised my objection the Captain said "This patrol will help disrupt the enemy movements and slow them down." When I Said it was outside our spec he replied "Sir, our spec is to hold the bridge, we will do it better with this patrol"

I attempted to dissuade the Captain and even said he should send it, but he should stay here with his platoon, he just replied "Captain Tenebris of the 2nd platoon can handle it here" and he walked off.

Conclusion

Although Captain Unbra is a fine officer, who has the tactical mind and his platoon members love him I request he be demoted, if not removed from all rank and placed into another regiment.

I look forwards to your reply,

Commissar Pit

Third War for Armageddon - The 141st fought in the defence of Palonious where they suffered heavy casualties. They were eventually reinforced by the Salamanders chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. During the battle around the Eumenides bridge the regiment was all but destroyed by a large body of Orks from the Blackskulls tribe as they migrated out of the Diablo mountain range. With the assistance of the Salamanders the bridge was saved and the Orks pushed back to the mountains. The remnants of the regiment were used to reinforce the 252nd Regiment. - Lexicanum

Hi Bluebelly1863,

Drybrush then a wash, paint the model, then was again (see below). It WAS a wash at least, now it's a watered down brown, with a little black wash in it.

Thanks for your comments mate! Don't mind metal TBH. Kinda enjoying the project (for once).

Hi RADU LYKAN

I've been doing mine like this

1) After basing, Spray black, lay on fronts, coat, Lay on back, cost again. Stand up and coat again.

2) Spray Zandri, leaving the underneath to look like shadow.

3) Drybrush Agrax. I was highlighting but it takes way too long, and the final look is much the same.

4) Ink brown.

5) Instead of black, I used black wash with a little black added. It's easy and quick to apply. It's cover is not as good, however, the bits that grin through look like white highlights.

6) Then the brown on boot covers, gloves etc.

7) Green gloss wash used for the goggles.

8) White circle on shoulder badge and red lightning bolt. That's the only real detail. Note, I haven't done flesh. It's so hidden it looks fine left in the cream.

9) Highlight the rubble with a quick drybrush of white.

10) Ink the model brown again. DONE

  • 2 weeks later...

I had to do it... Got a hydra!!! Going to have to convert the crew... The guy reading a memo is easy... I have a spare las cannon Gunner.

The model firing the Twin Autocannons... Might be a but if a faff. I have a few grenade launcher guys. I think I'll take his arms and weapons away. Add the original arms from the hydra kit and putty any damage/gaps up.

Pics comming soon...
