+Betrayal at Calth: Conversions and Ideas for the New Box+

Recommended Posts

One of the best & simplest conversions I've seen to alter the B@C Contemptor is to remove the axle which joins the legs to the crotch, drill out the resulting holes in the groin & glue in beads so that you can rotate the angle the legs join the pelvis (recreating the joints in the FW Contemptor) - with the way the legs are posed, just angling the legs out can create a much more natural pose.

I'll have to try that on the next one. I had already remade the joints using brass rods to pin by the time I read this.

Speaking of which: still very much a rough draft, but I did get the legs posed more to my liking.

I decided to call him the ceremite devil, due to the fact that I have spilt enough blood over him on accident that it'd make a berserker blush... He also has a little captain in him ;)

My Space Wolves. I used the 40k upgrade pack for the shoulderpads, some SW bits and resin pelts.

I'm rather pleased with how they turned out.

Love the colour on these Wolves. Would you mind sharing how you painted it and also which resin pelts you used? Cheers

Making a slow start on my B@C models

My conversion skills are almost nil, so generally models are stock, but thought I would have some fun.

Welcome Jorgmundr, the twin blades of Fenris, from the story Prospero burns.
This is just a jumping off point, arms are tacked in place for now and need a good bit of filling, I also need to do some fur trim on the cloak.

I haven't also decided whether to stick with power blades or the chainswords from left over from my assault marines. A 3rd alternative would be to use the power swords from the B@C box set.

Also choosing a head.

Second left for the "pretty boy" look?

Thoughts hints and tips welcome...

Found a new head, so might run with this:

Needs a tidy up. What do you think?

Also got bored waiting for greenstuff to dry, so did a little disection of a dread

Hopefully he can be a bit less static now..

This is pretty small and simple compared to most of the fantastic stuff in this thread, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Going to be painting up half the box as Night Lords, and the veteran squad all have the combat blades attatched to them, but I didn't think that'd look quite right for this chap with the heavy bolter. Had a spare chain bayonet from a FW bolter, and with a little filing it fits near perfectly.

The claws are Zombie scythe blades for GW Fantasy range.

Its the second or third dread I have used them on, the first was to make a dreadnought sized lightning claw about 6 years ago :)

That is awesome; any chance we can see the whole thing for scale purposes?

Here you go:

:)

Oh man, I might just have to shamelessly steal that pose for my leviathan, including the wrecked contemptor.

Pure awesome.

THE PALE HORSEMAN

gallery_24878_5750_35586.jpg

Skorpa the Pale Horseman. Fleshmaker of the Rout.

During the great crusade, Skorpa along with a watch pack, were sent by the Wolf King on orders from the Sigillite, to accompany the Imperial Heralds Legion of the 7th company. Sometime after the Edict of Nikaea, Skorpa was instructed by the Wolf King to investigate and learn more about his brother Aurelian's chaplain program. Under the counsel of a chaplain named Xaphen, the Fleshmaker undertook his investigation, unfortunately the two astartes had very different ideologies and never got along.

Xaphen thinking Skorpa but a pagan, was arrogant towards the son of Russ and belittled the Fleshmaker throughout his tutelage. “He is but a savage. A pagan dog who will not understand our devotion or our beliefs.” - Xaphen to his Primarch Aurelian of the XVII Legion. Insulting the Fenrisian was a daily routine for Xaphen. But Skorpa held back the fury that raged inside him and waited for his moment.

Eventually Skorpa fulfilled his duties and was deemed reeducated in the eyes of Xaphen. Skorpa was then urged to have a death mask forged as a rite of passage from pagan to chaplain. Going as far as to insult the wolf and ordering him to a bath and to groom himself to look proper in the eyes of the mighty Imperium.

In his defiance, Skorpa got his revenge on Xaphen by killing his favored animal, a terran like horse breed of Colchis. Using the head as his personal death mask, while leaving the bloodied carcass on Xaphen's prayer altar and words written on the walls simply saying, the pagan was here!

On route back to Fenris, Skorpa and his watch pack sent their reports back to both the Leman of the Russ and Malcador the Sigillite. In his report and to the amusement of the Wolf King, Skorpa said that they did not smell right and that the frostborn should remain in the ways of Fenris. Oathsworn to the Allfather and to the Wolf King.

THE GODLESS

Uthred The Godless
Pack Master sent to assist and watch over the Imperial Heralds on orders by the Sigillite. Uthred has a distrust towards the pious, which the XVII Legion embodied. Earning him a reputation from the Imperial Heralds and the moniker of "The Godless." Uthred making a point to enforce the Imperial Truth, even amongst the brother legions.

They dabble in silent prayers and pay homage to the Allfather. "The God Emperor" they whisper in secret. It almost makes me laugh. He is but the Allfather to the frostborn and the only man to best the Wolf King in a real fight between two warriors. But a God King? should I hear the words spoken openly, my blade will silence them forever, for I am the sanctioned son of Russ.

Dark times call for dark deeds...

I wanted to think outside the box on this one, as I've seen very few SW contemptor pattern dreadnoughts that do the VI Legion justice. Once completed and when I am satisfied with the results I can be proud of it.

More photos on the SW forum and on my WIP/PIP topic...
