Advanced Infiltration: Heralds of Extinction

Recommended Posts

I ordered this little guy a couple of weeks ago and took some time on Sunday to get him built up - so cute!

I magnetised all the top guns, as well as feeling a bit mad and did the sabre missiles - I'll be able to remove them in game, if they ever decide to make them good and I take them. I did magnetise the neutron blaster also, but did it a bit low so was pointing downwards...I was unhappy with it and doubt I'd ever use the other two anti infantry options anyway to just decided to glue it in. This guy was always meant to be a discount venator.

It's been a few years since I built one of those, but I remember them being a blast to build, probably the best experience I had with a FW tank. Can't wait to see how it looks later!

Thinking about adding some dirty sneaky wizards to my Alpha Legion, I was looking at:

XV: Thousand Sons
+ Rite of War: +
Rite of War: Recon Company

+ HQ: +
Centurion [125Pts]
. Delegatus: Artificer Armour, Athanaen, Cult Arcana Discipline, Nemesis Bolter, Psychic Discipline: Pyromancy
. . Bolt Pistol
. . Power Weapon: Power Sword

+ Troops: +
Reconnaissance Squad [85Pts]
. Legion Recon Sergeant: Bolt Pistol, Bolter
4X Recon Legionary: Bolt Pistol, Bolter

+ Fast Attack: +
Ammitara Occult Intercession Cabal [300Pts]: Ammitara Fate, 9x Ammitara Intercessors, Athanaen, 10x Bolt Pistol, 10x Nemesis Bolter

Cheeky nasty recon company to add to my alphas and push the theme. Recons could always be swapped for some tacs to place the centurion.

++WE ARE YOUR DEATH++
- The Heralds of Extinction

Volkite Culverins Heavy support squad painted up for my #AlphaLegion , for some reason, "Heralds of Extinction" came to me, and I think it'll stick. Sounds a bit chaosy perhaps...

Volkite Culverin Squad to battle ready - they need transfers and weathering to finish them off, as well as some touch ups to the trim that you only see in super close up...

Here's some headshots:

Finally founds the inspiration to complete some headhunters that had been sat on my desk for 2 weeks after grafting the HH torsos to Mk6 bodies:

Just two of the chaps for now, but I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. Guns have been magnetised so I can swap them for combis should the need ever arise, or just stick some volk chargers on them to represent that option.

Looking good.

Any army shots knocking about? I feel like it must be looking pretty spectacular by now.

Yea, pretty shocking how it's crept up, but the weeping of my wallet is only matched by the weeping of my opponent's every time they get that bonus 2" from the AL. I have even more unpainted thanks to a cheap bulk lot I found online (and the Falchion...).

Been working on these guys recently, they've been made up since Dec/Jan, but just getting round to getting paint on them.

I'm still deciding what to do withthe shields, hence the tape, but vertical stripes seem the path of least resistance, and means less large flat area of teal that can go wrong...
