Hi there everyone, I've opened a new thread for rules discussions here. I've passed over the discussions about the Death Guard Cremators in the form of quotes to give credit where it's due and to give the mods a hand.

I've also had a new idea for Thousand Sons Breachers, using reflective shields like Archimedes' Bronze shields against the Roman Fleet. Tell me what you think about this over in the other thread :)

Urge to do a multiple Caestus and Medusan immortal boarding party list with Orth.... Rising.

Also just want to say it's cool seeing my Team Breacher sign floating around. Glad people liked it!

If there are any traitors or those who don't like Fists who'd like a different one let me know!

Since the downgrade of Tyrant Siege Terminators at the Horus Heresy weekender, I've been thinking of a new Elites unit to give my beloved Iron Warriors. What could be more natural then a Breacher variant ?

So I've had this idea of a combined arms unit, of basically 5 breachers (with pikes rather than bolters) and 5 support marines (you can then take 5 more of each). This could offer some interesting tactical opportunities, ie more protection for your special weapons carriers, and still have some amount of oomph in the first turn of close combat. Also, model placement within the unit would become vitally important, which is a bonus as it is more interesting to play, but also a downside as it might slow the pace down a bit.

What do you guys think of this as a possibility ?

If we start developing any rules, don't forget to do it in this thread.

Fighting with a pike one handed is probably super awkward. Maybe chain spears? Do extra guys have to be taken in pairs? Overall I really like the idea.

Perhaps overwatch on 5+ as the breachers give the support weapon guys a bit of extra time to react.

I think a Stor-Bezashk specialist breaching half and half unit could be cool. The fluff mentions they use a lot of rad, phosphex and grav weaponry, so maybe give them access to graviton guns and irad cleansers instead of standard specials? I feel like a short-hafted billhook or boarding hatchet would better fit the confines of breaching fortifications and trenches than pikes though...

I'm just now realising I was confusing the Greek and Macedonian Hoplites: most hellenists had the massive shields and a long spear, the macedonians had two handed pikes (the sarrissa ?:huh.: can't remember). Well some kind of lance that can justifiably give counter attack :P

I was thinking more along of power technology or something, as chain spears and glaives smack more of Night Lords.

I like the expanded overwatch.

I was originally thinking of pike&shot formations as a basis, but the billhooks idea is great :)

I think it would be best to steer away from excessive grav and rad weaponry, so as not to mimick the Hand's Immortals and the Death Guard special unit we've built over in the other thread, but since several people have expressed interest we can move that discussion over there.

But surely if you play Iron Warriors and are looking for some shield action you want the Super-Robot-Breachers in the Iron Circle!

What's better than MC Breachers with big hammers?

MC creatures with big hammers that aren't overpriced ? Just kidding, they look pretty good (in rules and fluff terms) and awesome model ! But I've still got a soft spot for the infantryman, and this is Team Breacher after all :P

So I built a Siege Breaker for my Thousand Sons...

Awesome ! Can't wait to see him painted !

How about Lascutters, on a spear that allows them to "set" a charge, where if they do not move in the proceeding movement phase, they get to use their Lascutters at their normal initiative and Weapon Skill in the first round of combat. As they only get 1 attack anyway. Makes them truly defensive, because no-one likes taking a S9 AP2 hit to face.

Have I mentioned that I like lascutters?

Sounds like an interesting idea though might be a bit weird no ? (then again it is set to be a weird unit)

Let's carry on discussing the unit here (since that's what it's there for) :D

@Black Cohort:

@Paladin and everyone else wondering: Head is an Iron Hand upgrade helm, torso was a finecast Techmarine. Legs were from a HH Iron Father, the shield arm consists of a bunch of Deff Dread parts, a sensor cover from a land speeder, and a spotlight. The morningstar arm consists of Huron Blackhearts' arm, a DA Termie mace, and a world eater meteor hammer. The backpack was a leftover from a Grindhouse Games Allied power suit.
