We Cheat Death from Her Rightful Victory.

No One Can Defeat Us.

Well, I finally made the latest, greatest, and newest member of the band:

So I have had these bits sitting in a pile on my desk for some time and I finally put them all together. For some reason I am really great at gathering bits and after like two-to-five months I can build something decent. I had been wanting to use that sanguinary guard axe for some time and happy to have it in the hand of another CCQ Noise Marine. I really wanted his right arm stretched out and pointing the axe at this next victim but I'm quite content with this pose.

Now to think of another two CCQ noise marines. Thinking of one with a phoenix spear but need to think of another weapon to use.

Also, my standard bearer in the back is going to get his left arm ripped off and replaced with a shield bearing one. Been thinking about that for awhile so it's got to happen. That way he can match his squadmates a bit more. Going to either find a sheathed sword for him with the idea if a battle gets rough he can plant the standard and draw his blade. We'll see how that goes.

I'm still chipping away at this army and my dumb self decide to make it a 1750 point force made up of two battalions. So I need to build more noise marines than planned and add an exalted champ to go with everything else I've got. Super duper!

Thanks Pearson! I wanted to show hints of corruption with the raptor shoulder pad and carving away the grill of the mk3 helm (which I've been doing to some other marines). I tried adding studs to armor for cool factor but botched it on that leg. I tried digging out the microbead and gave up hoping it would just look like damage. IT WORKED! :biggrin.:

The army is not dead and I am honored Nephilim! These poor sods have just taken a back seat as a lot of my attention is going toward my Black Legion. I honestly cannot give them up as they have gotten me through the rough times of previously crappy codices. Really the Blastmaster is what had kept me going. I miss all the fun times it had killed so many vehicles and removed chunks of infantry for me.

Glad to see this thread back up and running, even if it is full of dirty traitors....

 

I am really liking the command squad, and will be taking inspiration from it -- i too thought the custodes stuff from BoP would be ideal for the EC; sadly I've not got round to my terminator command squad & elite breacher squad which is what I had planned for the standard and shields! Nice to see it works out in practice!

 

I am hoping that the EC get a nice updated bunch of plastics soon - that will probably sway me to turn to the dark side.....

Great to see the squad all together! I know exactly what you mean when you say gathering bits and not doing anything with them for months as that's how a lot of my projects start. For the other noise marine how about giving him a smaller lightning claw, like what Nemac Vradon did with his raptor lord and biker lord. Looking forward to seeing more updates!

Sweet Fulgrim, those lenses!

This is probably the happiest I’ve been painting lenses. I wanted bright green but had no colors for it. So went blue using sotek green for the whole lense, then a line of lothern blue on the bottom, and a little dab of white on the top.

 

Good to see this log back!! They are really well painted. :)

Nice looking squad.

Will you be adding decals? I always think they ground the model nicely and bring lots of realism. Would give some extra oompf to a otherwise great paintjob.

How's the Alpha Legion coming along by the way?

  

Thanks Markus, it feels good to have a fully painted squad. Thanks to hobby-butterfly syndrome on my part it’s been a long time since I’ve had such an accomplishment haha :) Hopefully I’ll get this whole army painted.

 

As for decals I definitely want to add some. I have the micro sol and set, just need to look up some tutorial videos and give it a whirl on some test dummies. It’ll help as I have most of my marines built and I didn’t even use the bulk of etch brass I have for them. I also hope it’ll help with the large, flat surfaces of their tanks too.

 

As for the Alphas they are on break for the moment. I need to retool and redo some things on them. I’ll probably focus on them after I get these EC painted.

 

Stunnig paintjobs, that purple looks sweet! I've always secretly wanted to branch out to slannesh, that's how I want them to look colorwise if I ever get around to it

Thanks! After copying Kizzdougs’s older method of painting using Tamiya’s metallic I was hooked. And you should give Slaanesh some love! ;)

 

Start the addiction with a few models, then a kill teams, and boom! A whole other army on your hobby desk!

Brothers! The hour of Jubilation is upon us!

Long story short, after failing to recreate my 7th ed EC list into 8th ed and disliking the scale of the old marines this army has literally been gathering dust. Now, with renewed vigor I want to do right by them and finish them off. I've had this army since 6th edition when Noise Marines received their faq that let them bring a Blastmaster in a five man squad. I had love them until 8th and the downward spiral started there. These boys deserve more from me so here is their possible last HURRAH! So, ladies and gentlemen, arrayed in the picture above is my 2000 point army that I am attempting to paint in full aside from some stand-ins like the crazy colored marines on the right my nephew painted. I am proud and a bit concerned that his painting style is very Slaaneshi :smile.: I have made one change to the list, the one regular dreadnought was a stand in for a contemptor. However, after putting everything away after taking some picture I am swapping that out for a heldrake.

This comes to about 1971 points if battlescribe has their numbers right. So there may be some more tweaks and little changes but for the most part what you see will get painted and fielded on the table.

So things left to do besides paint? I have 2 noise marines with sonic blasters to make. I need to make one big backpack for one of my blastmaster noise marines. Then I need to finish up two of my ccw NM that will act as my MoE's bodyguard/escort. That and some detailing and I hope to just worry about painting and actually have a painted army for a change.

Other than that the only exciting thing I am working on is trying to rework FW's cacophony weapons I've been using as sonic blasters.

Originally I didn't want all my noise marines having the same pose. Especially since they are all using the same weapon. So I built that guy in the middle some time back to give some variety. As I look at him now and thinking about it I do not like that weapon being held one-handed. Plus, I like my recently painted marines lined up like a firing line. So back to that posing. However, I do not want to have too many marines using the same exact bits, especially the cloth wrapped on their gauntlets. So yesterday I started on the fella to the left. I cut and trimmed down the weapon and removed the right arm attached to it. Then I cut, pinned, and repositioned the arms. I liked it and started on the next guy. Not my best work but in the words of Shrek: "that'll do donkey"

Thank you jaxom for the links! Both are really good I just wished N8 had a bit better camera angle. I am going to go scrounge around for some transfers to practice, fortunately I have everything else and it's good to know about putting down gloss/ardcoat first too.

Awesome to see progress on your chaos space marines again! The new conversions and paintjobs look really good. I'm really looking forward to see some color on your character conversions. Also, any chance your Black Legion is getting some love soon?

Thanks AHP! It’s nice to actually paint again and I am hoping to get some good practice in with the infantry first. Then hopefully do a tad better job on my HQ and the stabby noise marines I’ll be finishing up. It had been a long while since I painted so I’m rusty. And I was never that great of a painter to begin with :)

 

And I’ve set a goal for myself being that I finish this army before I do anything else. I have some kill teams I want to finish up but I definitely want to get back to the Black Legion (or something bearing their colors).
