Personally I'm expecting the Siege around 2020.

We know that the Primarchs series is going on until 2020 (admittedly it might go on beyond the Siege, but it could at least be some indicator).

I could see the Forge World books going on to that point too (2 per year, we're getting Prospero later this year, let's say one each for Thramas+Signus, Shadow Crusade, Mars, Tallarn, the Solar War and maybe one other of mixed things like Retribution).

And that could also fit with the main series, where we tend to get 3 or 4 entries per year on average, and assuming we get Master of Mankind as #41 later this year, three more years would take us to 50-53, which is about what I'm expecting before the Siege.

Exactly. But do hope the end will arrive a year earlier - like 2019 at least

Surely more Novels are on their way? Another one next month please! I don't want stagnation or more books about Calth. I want book about The Emperor and what He likes to tinker with in his special dungeon where only his special friends can visit.

Man, I'm not writing another one. The last one took me a year and a half.

You got it easy msn-wink.gif Now go back to writing - and you will not break the sacramental deadline msn-wink.gif

Does it go something like this "blah blah, Golden Light, blah blah, can't see his face, indistinguishable features, etc, etc, ancient technology from the dawn of man, yadda yadda"

... if it does, then that's great.

If not, well. I'm going to buy it anyways!

Not that you can/want to change it, but it would be good to know if The Emperor is just trundling along with Plan A, or if he really can just see the future by sitting on his Throne and having a think ... or even if he's a bit pissed off at having the Chaos Gods blocking his psychic vision! I imagine I'd be pretty annoyed if I used my awesome psychic might to figure out the one true path for Humanity to follow without being destroyed only for a bunch of Warp based scum to send all the plans to pot. I mean it's not like the Eldar were ever in league with The Emperor against Chaos is it.

Or is it? Eldrad must have been his chum at some point!

He was for sure. I think Eldrad know the true 'soul' of the Empra for sure

I'm sure i remember reading a post on your facebook similar in nature to this as regards to the untamed beast of a creation that would come to be know as The Talon of Horus... and we all know how that turned out! msn-wink.gif

I would love another Scars novel...but they're already at Terra...pretty sure their next story will be their battle against DG at the Siege

Indeed the White Scars seem to have had nothing but A+ treatment, near enough all of their entries have been very enjoyable reads! I must admit though that i feel Path of Heaven should of been book 3 of 4 not potentially 2 of 3. I think all existing material preceding POH ends at the telling of Little Horus by Dan Abnett giving us 4 years of untold warfare and character development. I really want to have this period explored... maybe if Chris is doing a Death Guard Novel we might have a glimpse at some of this, but I would prefer to see evidence of their deeds either in the form of after action reports via Ilya at the time or Hibou Khan. Speaking of which what happens after he leaves Little Horus with half his face missing and his comrade Bion Henricos who fell... argh, so much extra detail to be explored!!

You win the Debbie Downer Award for today, A D-B.

I'm sure you're getting ready to respond with something relevant and sensible like, "It comes down to a limited amount of time to devote between my craft and my family, and I would rather invest what I have in projects I'm passionate about," but you should know in advance that you're wrong AND years late on the Dark Angels-Space Wolves Heresy tag-team novel that everyone's been REALLY waiting for, wherein the Lion and Russ trudge on to Terra whilst having flashbacks to fun times like the Tyrant of Dulan incident.

Now that I've exhausted my run-on sentence quota, I'll be heading home.

(In case it wasn't obvious, this post is in jest.)

I feel that a novel or novella between Scars and PoH would have been perfect

Plenty of opportunity to...

1. Flesh out characters like Qin Xa and Hibou Khan

2. Cover the early victories of the WS and how they start getting bogged down

3. Explore Shiban's transition into Tachseer

4. Etablish Jubal Khan's character and foreshadow his future ascension

5. Maybe even some flashback scenes involving the Khan and Russ, to further flesh out the tension between the two legions

Wishful thinking on my part...but I feel that a lot of stuff was omitted between Scars and PoH...more than enough for a full novel

Oh how the Scars teach space puppies the true meaning of speed biggrin.png

b1soul - I was quite happy with the idea of them skipping the four years and giving us a backwards glance view.

<insert four years of relentless, tedious, agonising heroics as both sides are worn inexorably down and the baddies, step by step, shot by shot, inch by inch, gain an unassailable upper hand>

(Path of) Heaven's above - PoH was depressing enough without exposing us directly to all that miserable hell.

Moreover, I think the point was it was slow character development almost without intrigue. Extraordinary military stratagem foiled in an extraordinary manner. I'd love to see some of that though - if Chris goes back to it once the FW have done a number on it, there could be a huge seam to mine. But, excellent as Chris is, I'm kinda happy he didn't expend energy on depicting that period at length.

Simply put: evoking it is easy, doing it well isn't (but Chris nailed it). Showing it in detail is a monumental task, mainly as it'd require constant devising of genius military moves and countermeasures. (Without which it might come off as deeply unsatisfying.)

So, I'm glad they skipped past it, and would love to see it when the ideas are there, but I'm glad they've done as they did.

I think Chris would've knocked an in-between novel out of the ball park.

I think it was more an issue of how much attention BL wanted to focus on the WS arc

2 novels worked fine. I think 3 would've been great for the WS, EC, or DG fans

I mean...Kyme is doing a trilogy for Vulkan. I would far prefer that his bad writing stopped at Vulkan Lives. No need for the terrible Deathfire and its upcoming sequel

I'm fine with Path of Heaven set where it was. I think an added 50-75 pages focusing on the character development of Tachseer and Ravasch Cario, the conflicts those two faced, and Von Kalda's burgeoning daemon-summoning plot, could have made a very good novel a great one.

It is a masterpiece anyway. Especially comparing to '.Kyme is doing a trilogy for Vulkan' - crippers

So far we know of at least three new Horus Heresy novels right?

Corax (compilation with new novella)

Master of Mankind

Crimson King

Are there any other novels that have been announced?

I wonder if the latest two short stories black shield and Myriad are a sign of whats heading our way.

Such as the fall of Mortarion and his legion and the war for Mars?

I mean I really enjoyed Cybernetica and loved the idea of the clockwork machine intelligence which is so reminiscent of the mechanicum symbol its a little scary.

Yes, those are the only ones we know are forthcoming, though both MoM and Crimson King do not have  fixed date yet.

MoM surely around November I think, and Crimson King next year.

I agree that the short stories can be indicative of full novels, simply because that has happened plenty of times in the past with the WH books.

Rob sanders has now done two Mars stories and I would love to see a Mars novel. It could be his first contirbution to the HH series. I also wouldn't mind if someone else does a Mars novel, but from the shorter works, it seems this should go to Sanders. Question is of course, is a full novel there actually planned.

Likewise people have been clamouring for Wraight to do a Death Guard novel and suddenly there is a DG short story from Wraight. It's also unknown what his next HH novel will be about. He does have Leman Russ Primarchs novel out in October and Vaults of Terra in May 2017. So the next one you'd imagine would not arrive before Fall 2017.

Ah, yeah, anthology. December seems ripe for MoM, then...

If that's the case, I assure you that I'll be starring in an aggressive campaign of TV commercials, yelling at people to buy the hardback/eBook for their winter seasonal celebration of choice.

"KWANZAA, AM I RIGHT? HERE, BUY THIS. LOOK AT THESE GOLD DUDES. CHECK OUT THAT KINGLY GUY. HE'S GOT ONE FOOT UP ON A ROCK, SO YOU KNOW HE'S IMPORTANT."

You wanted a book about the Emperor? Well, Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.

Nick Kyme also confirmed he's doing a third Salamanders novel (in the author's word of Deathfire I think it was). And rumours from the last HH Weekender (I think it was that) said James Swallow is putting together a compilation novel for Garro, possibly with some fleshing out between stories. That aside, it's wishlisting as far as I know (Wraight DG novel, Wraight DG novel... :D )

Not exactly the news to be exited with biggrin.png

Promethean Sun just puzzled me, to be honest. Only thing I really got out of it was a setting to play with in an AU story.

I wonder if we'll get something to do with Fulgrim soon. Everyone seems to be wondering where he's got to, in Path of Heaven. Though maybe I'm reading too much into Wraight's "don't suppose you've seen ___ lately" - alternatively, you could read further into those and decide an Abaddon short or novella is in the offing.
