OzDestro
Hi there, Easter gave me the opportunity to get some work done on my War Hounds Space Marine Legion. There's only a few of us out there doing war Hounds, so thought I'd share (but wow - close ups are unforgiving aren't they?!). It's been a bit of a journey with there being so little information on them, but it's finally coming together! http://www.ozdestro.com/uploads/1/3/0/1/13014732/3695822_orig.jpg http://www.ozdestro.com/uploads/1/3/0/1/13014732/5232279_orig.jpg This guy is to go with my Veteran Tactical Squad - each one a grizzled veteran who had fought the Thunder Warriors and come out victorious and been the Emperor's anointed executioners. I used the head from one of the Chaos Marauder Cavalry models and looks very much like a character out of a Frank Frazetta drawing of barbarians. His face was actually quite fiddly and the paint job is only really passable which is pretty disappointing. The spikey shoulder pad is a Master Crafted Veteran Spiky Shoulder Pad, BTW. If you missed our review of them earlier, have a look here . Can't express how cool these are! Also did some work on the beginning of a Tactical Support Squad. Kind of a funny story with these guys - I'd originally wanted all my War Hounds to be armed with Volkite weapons as they were a pre-Heresy army, but once Forge World set me straight , I had these two Space Marines without a home - one of them the very first War Hound I'd painted! You'll notice the freehand War Hounds symbol on his shoulder pad. http://www.ozdestro.com/uploads/1/3/0/1/13014732/8536028_orig.jpg So I repainted the helmets, elbow pads and the backpacks to be in the right colours for Tacticals and designed a Tactical Support symbol for the shoulder. The symbol couldn't be the same as the normal Tactical Space Marines (I use the arrows either side of the Legion number), so this simple arrow was different enough from the normal Tacticals to work as Tactical Support. http://www.ozdestro.com/uploads/1/3/0/1/13014732/4518571_orig.jpg With all those changes happening, I still couldn't bring myself to paint over the free-hand War Hounds symbol I did on the first of my War Hounds. It took too long and I still like the look of it. http://www.ozdestro.com/uploads/1/3/0/1/13014732/8951170_orig.jpg Anyway, hope you like them.Love to see some more War Hounds out there if you're doing them... Flint13
Looks great man! No one will be mistaking them for Ultramarines, that's for darn sure. Firepower
Anyone who can paint a convincing rampant crest gets a congratulatory nod from me. So, here. KrautScientist
I really love the bareheaded guy -- a perfect choice of head, and it works so well with the spiked shoulder pad. Don't sell yourself short, either, because I think the face looks great! That freehand War Hounds symbol is also rather impressive! Excellent work all around! Olis
Sweet veteran and shoulder pad, brother. But, and some of our fellows would not be surprised at this, onto the meat of the matter: Also did some work on the beginning of a Tactical Support Squad. Volkites! Always good to see Volkites. I think you'd like the Martian Death Ray Club. I certainly like to see you there, if only to check out my Rite of War concept - Sol Crusader. Knight of the Raven
Ah, the original War Hounds painter. Good to see you here. Lovely job on these marines; they're well modeled and painted, not to mention certainly more faithful to the lore than mine! DaBoiKyknos
Like it. Good use of the head as said above already. Is the first guy holding his bolter with a power-fist or did I get this wrong?
