Yeah, that's a tough one since it's quite an upgrade too (points-wise). Anything you can add to visually drive the point home would be welcome. Just using B@C won't cut it since people can use them as normal missile launchers too. It would not be fair to get extra points for exactly the same piece of wargear...

An antenna maybe? Coming from the backpack? You know you can make antennas very easily by heating up the sprues the minis come with. Just an idea...

...or the fired missile bit from the newest Devy box.

You could also go with mactires suggestion, it's probably cheaper!!

End of Line

I'm using a psy-raven familiar to represent mastery level 2 and I also happen to be using a convered Njal for each of the 2 mastery level 2 models. The rest don't have psy-raven familiars so are just stock level 1. If I can find a source of psy-birds or psy-foxes, or other animals I may upgrade some. However this will royally cock up my carefully planned first vow which currently sits bang on 3,000 points.

I like this idea, where are you getting psy-ravens from SW1?

One is the one sliced from Njal's wrist. The other is a great eagle from the old WHFB epic sized game.

So the Chaos forum ETL is strong as long as nobody discusses the Chaos codex?!

Good times

well thats usually the thing that makes us argue with each other, last thing we need is to loose focus and get bogged down in debate going round in circles. Only just calmed down after the last lot of 'gw hates us'. Thats why Ive chosen the Aett as my second home. I just get a good vibe here. :)

If you will have me, I will pledge to the Fang. I feel like I let you all down last year and want to make amends.

No-one lets anyone down!

This is your event as much as anybody's else. You certainly do not need anyone's permission to play along with whichever faction you feel like!

So grab your paintbrush and attack brother! :D

Previous ETL's are like Vegas, what happened there stays there. So don't beat yourself up over it!!!

This ETL we want to make waves and challenge for the top spot. The only way to do this is have as many along for the ride as possible. Basically WE NEED YOU and as many undecided painters as possible to make this happen.

Now completion rate does have a major effect on the position factions end up at. So if you feel like you might not be able to do a certain number of models break it down into smaller vows. A wolf is clever, a wolf is cunning and a wolf is never alone. :p

Thanks, I will get eBay trawling then ;) haha

Firstly, thanks for that!

Secondly, I'm thinking of starting small and pledging a grey hunters pack with Rhino.

My next question is where do I lock my vows in? (first ETL)

On May 15th there will be a special ETL thread in every relevant forum called the "Strategium" as well as the main rules thread in the WIP forum. Once your Strategium becomes live, you can pledge your vows there. :)

How big a vow is everyone making?

It all depends on your painting speed. Going off previous ETL's an average vow is between 500 - 1000 points. Though of those you see 60 ish % completed.

We need as close to 100% completion rate as possible. So the best bet is to work out what you can paint in a month and vow that. Then complete it in a month and then do another vow!!!

I'll be aiming to paint between 4500 - 6000 points or more if I manage to really get going. So my first vow will be 3,000 points of characters with a target of completing them in 2-3 weeks to be on track.

Yeah I want to model something to make them be wysiwyg. Though the missiles in the B@C kit are quite dinky in comparison to the old metal ones. Maybe I'll play around with some old plastic backpacks and convert them instead?

try modelling the flakk guys so they're pointing up a lot more? >< sounds silly i know, but, with a slightly sloping base, and some adjustment at the waist, could look alright. Seeing as how regular ML guys seem to all just point straight forwards anyways.

How big a vow is everyone making?

My total vow will be around 1500, I think my first vow will be the infantry and characters which will total 960ish. After that I will vow groups of vehicles depending on the length of time it takes me to get done.

Tilted up, helmet with targeter, some kind of sensor/antenna/radar thing on backpack. Put it all together and it should look like he's going after aircraft.

How big a vow is everyone making?

I'll start with a grey hunters pack just to get a feeling of my painting speed and in order to be able 100% to start with a completed vow (I dont have a lot to paint my whole space wolves collection atm is around 1200 pts sad.png )

I have to echo the others here... Any vow is of value, no matter its size. And more important than the points value of said vow is ones ability to complete it. I made the mistake last year of biting off waaaaaaaay more than I could chew, so this year I am taking it slower and vowing things I know are obtainable.

Pro tip: Don't try to compete with WLK unless you have a serious fire burning in your hobby heart!! ;)

A little competition is a good thing, but in my opinion, goal setting and challenging yourself is much more rewarding!!

End of Line

Colour code your rockets.

Blue for anti air. Red for frag. Yellow for krak.

And it doesnt matter how much you vow, just that you do. Oh and finish it.

Like it says in the battle of the fang, the Wolves crave completion. Which is why yhey kept hunting Magnus
